alec was surprised when her father cane bursting into the hut. he couldn’t really understand what he was saying but it looked to be pretty urgent. the man looked like in a hurry,he had worried eyes. something was wrong, alec could already tell. alec but his lip, looking at the two wondering what they were talking about. cerridwen thankfully translated for him, telling him that the commander was seen near and that they had to leave. she was really up-front about everything, telling him that he will die if he goes back with his own people. alec looked at her in shock, seeing that she was in a rush. the commander was a bad person, that’s one thing he knew for sure and she ensured that they will kill the delinquents at sight.
alec was silent for a long while before doing anything. he had an idea, and was not sure if it would work or not. he stood from the chair he was tied down to. cerridwen mentioned that the commander was near... he knew what to do. ”wait...” alec said,in an attempt to collect all of his thoughts. ”why don’t you come to us,back at the drop ship. she can’t be heading there right?” alec looked at the grounder trying to do what’s best. there was a way that he could save help his people and help the grounder who was fleeing from the commander. it was still all so new to him. alec couldn’t imagine what the reactions of the delinquents would be if they saw that the earth was already populated.
alexander started again,”and of the commander comes to us,then maybe we could work something out. some kind of treaty or something. we could tell them where we came from and you could hide in the dropship...” alec trailed off, trying to find the right words to say. ”back there, they won’t mind. you warned us about her and now we could help you. “ alec told her looking at her through her mask that she put on. it was intimidating but alec was trying to make cerridwen see the bigger picture. ”i just can’t leave them...” alec confessed,he would feel bad. he couldn’t leave one hundred people to die, especially knowing the fact.

the warrior looked at alexander as if he were crazy for even saying what he had said. cerridwen shook her head. "the commander doesn't just come into this territory for no reason, there is nothing here but woods and villages," she said. "your- um- dropship would have been visible all the way in polis, the commander would only come here from something important, like seeing if your friends were invaders," she told him. she sighed and shook her head. "the commander doesn't care for peace, all she wants is power. if she feels that my family has disrespected her then she will kill all of us," she told him. "she doesn't pity anyone and she never shows mercy," she warned him. "you can go back but im not coming, i won't risk my life and my family's life," she told alexander. she continued on her way to help her parents get ready to leave.
cerridwen threw all of their clothes together, their weapons and any food that they had that could be eaten a while from now. she walked out to their one horse and put their things into the settle bag. once everything important was taken out of the hut, her parents made their way out. her father took a torch off of the wall. he raise it in the air, closed his eyes and then threw it onto the hut, starting to light it ablaze.

alexander listened to the grounder, and was silent for a long time after. he felt defeated and felt like he completely ran out of options. he couldn’t trust cerridwen but he knew that she wouldn’t lie about the commander. alec could see that she really was afraid of what the commander would do to her. if she discovered her family. alec looked at the warrior who left the hut and her father who started to light things on fire. he walked out with her, still not knowing what to do or say. he feared what would happen to all of his friends. if someone already spotted the commander then maybe they have already got to the drop ship.
everything was happening so fast,he couldn’t even comprehend the situation fully. alec watched the fire rise, and for a moment he thought that maybe he would go back. die with the people he knew. what was the point of living if everyone he knew was going to die. the earthy was pre-conquered. who knew what the arc was thinking right now? the wristband he had on told the arc of he was alive or not. but once they realize all of the one hundred are dead they won’t want to come down anymore. not even if alec was still alive. alec closed his eyes for a moment and thought of the perfect plan...
alec opened his eyes and looked toward cerridwen, their whole family was in a rush. they all had heir things up and ready to go. ”i’ll go.” alec said inaudibly. he cleared his throat, ”i’ll go with you...” alec said more clearly. he didn’t know what he was doing anymore. he saw the life now came by the second and the earth was just a flat out crazy place. he looked at cerridwen with worried, saddened eyes. he felt like his life was just getting ripped apart in a matter of hours. it was insane to him.

the warrior had to stop for a moment and looked at the fire. it swallowed their small wooden hut whole, as if it was nothing. it look so magical, cerridwen felt like she should reach out and touch it, like it was calling her for some reason. her body was pulled forward, the fire becoming a magnet. "cerridwen!" her father's voice broke her trance. her head snapped away from the huge crackling fire. "we need to go before heda sees the fire and comes this way!" he yelled, his voice rising above the deafening sound of the blaze.
cerridwen nodded and ran towards her mother and father, covering her mouth to keep the smoke out. she started to cough as she continued to walk off, leaving her life behind her as she did so. everything that she remembered happened on that land, in that hut and now it was gone, burned to the ground. still, she wouldn't get emotional. it was just a house, a house that they could build again wherever they would go now. she had no idea where they would go now, none of them did, but they would get there. they would be far away from here.
she was about to start running when she heard alexander. she halted and turned back, seeing him through the licking flames. "then come! we can't stay here, we will be found!" she yelled to him before turning back to her parents, hoping he was following.

alexander heard cerridwen reply. she was already racing out of the huge smoke cloud. this was their home, alec thought. it just be hard to just burn and leave it. though it didn’t look like any of the family members were really hurt about it. the most he could see is when cerridwen looked at the blazing fire blankly. alec nodded in her direction,he had a slightly blurry image from her as the smoke got thicker and thicker. alec started to go towards her...
though he stopped for a second, thinking about what it reminded him of. he brought his eyebrows together in remeberence. it was when John Murphy and him set fire in the ark. the only reason why he was done here in the first place. the stupid decision that he made so that he could never see his parents again. alec shook his head and began coughing when he realized the situation he was in. alec was starting to notice the little things he did. alec noticed that he just stops on his tracks, watcher he’s doing...he just gets so deep into whatever he’s thinking about. alexander continued to cough until he ran out of the smoke,he saw cerridwen.
he had a lot on his mind, too much in fact. alec had too much problems and this was the first day he ever stepped foot on land. it was disappointing honestly. alec never thought the earth would be this cruel. alec sighed, and then looked at cerridwen. ”where are we even going?” he asked curiously, this looked like to be their home. where else would they have? all alec could think of his possible relatives or friends. but if they didn’t alec just thought they could go to the drop ship. where he could be back with his friends...

the warrior continued to walk with her parents, hoping alexander was following them. she looked back for a moment, admiring the smoke that was pluming up into the sky like a trail of gray clouds. if the commander wasn't going to find their shelter before, then she sure would now. cerridwen watched as alexander finally caught up with them. she started walking again, letting him fall into pace beside her. she shrugged. "wherever the forest takes us, we are going as far away from here as we can," she told him. they would probably go another area in trikru territory or possibly even try to sneak into another clan's territory without them being noticed, which she knew would be hard.
they kept walking and walking, every step that cerridwen took made her legs burn a little more as she walked across the rocky terrain. when she looked behind her she could just barely see the rising smoke behind her. she knew it would eventually burn itself out. she felt like she was just mindlessly wondering now, trying her best to keep going, no matter how hard she just wanted to stop. she needed rest, she needed-
a horn sounded off into the area, following by a whole chorus of other horns. cerridwen knew right away what that meant. acid rain was coming now. she and her parents began to search frantically for anywhere to hide from the rainstorm that was coming from them. "here!" she said as she found a small cave that had been covered by leaves and dirt. she slid herself into the cave, her parents following her. she looked up and saw alexander and realized her had no idea what was going on. "get in! ill explain once your in!"

alec nodded toward cerridwen,so that was the plan. to get as far away as possible. alec tried to remember his surroundings as best as possible. he wanted an escape route. so he knows how to get back. though, the teen had no idea where he was at. for most of the time on earth he had a bag over his head preventing him to see anything. who knows how far away he has from the dropship? it didn’t feel like he was walking a long way when the grounder originally kidnalled him. though,it could have been just the heat of the moment/adrenaline type of thing. he was exhausted, that was one thing he was sure of.
alec contained to walk despite his legs feeling like jelly. he tried to take his surroundings him,so he has an idea of where he’s at. he noted the fallen over tree and the oddly shaped bushes. everything. for the most part he was quiet and so were the rest. there was a small fear that the commander would find them and that he will be executed along with cerridwen and her family. alexander then thought of his family and what they were thinking. were they even told that the kids were sent down here? alec tried to shake away his thoughts about them,it was too much for him...
the group then came across a rocky sort of terrain, which alec was not looking forward to. it was going to be quite a workout. the delinquent never walked this much at the arc. but,yes he did as much as he could especially being locked up for the last two years. thankfully,at the arc they gave him time to work on himself. other than the earth skills class; that’s where alec would see murphy. murphy, alec thought. alec prayed to himself that the one-hundred would survive until alec gets back there. they had to...
alexander jumped a little when a mysterious horn sounded. alec stopped in his tracks looking at cerridwen for answers or a brief explanation. alec looked around to try to see what was going on. all he could see is a bunch of bugs at his feet, running toward the opposite direction they were heading in. alec watched cerridwen as she was lookcing for something. he was confused, not knowing what to do. ”what’s going on?!” alec asked worriedly, cerridwen looked like she was in a hurry. she then stopped at a small cave. she uncovered it by clearing out the dirt and leaves. alec simply ran into the cave...
it was dark inside and alec went towards the back, squinting. regardless of his situation,he was an outsider. he felt that to them, alec was expendable. he would be the first one they will kill. when cerridwen hopped in,alec didn’t hesitate to ask,”what’s going on?” he repeated more calmly. it seemed that she knew exactly what was going on and that this was simply a normal everyday thing.

as soon as alexander made his way into the cave, she and her family quickly covered that entrance with rocks, trying to make sure that as little as possible acid rain would get into the cave where they were hiding out. sweat dripping down her forehead, cerridwen sat down on the rocky ground. "fire rain," she told him. "it burns you skin. if you stay out in it, you'll die," she told him with a grim look on her face. her parents had always called the burning acid rain, fire rain, so that was what she called it. she started to here the wind pick up, loud cracks of thunder, before she heard the sound of rain droplets hitting the top of the cave. her eyes scanned around the dim cavern, hoping not to see any droplets of water coming in. thankfully, she didn't find anything. "always trust the bugs," she whispered under her breath with a smile.
