name: Mavis Morrow
age: 28
gender: cisfemale
orientation: hetero

───────────────────
height: five foot six
hair colour: dirty blonde
eye colour: light green

───────────────────
personality: stubborn and strong-
willed, loyal, impulsive, bold,
rational, sarcastic, blunt, istp

─────────────────────────────────────────
about: Mavis works for one of the only newspapers in Weinstein Hill,
writing on a daily basis. Living is pretty simple for her, staying in her small
apartment with her cat, Reuben, a British shorthair. It can be hard for her
to make friends or form relationships at times, with her stubborness
combined with her sarcasm and bluntness that she has. Mavis grew up as
an only child living in Weinstien with her father, who worked as a police
officer. After his passing, she's pretty much been on her own, going
between day to day just to pay rent.

weinstein hill was a nice little town. all the people were nice, everyone waved, kids could walk to school, people could walk the streets at night without worry. it was nice. bucky enjoyed it. of all the places he had found to live in the past four months, he definitely liked weinstein the best. he hoped he never had to leave. he had been there for two weeks. he was living in a cheap apartment building, but he didn't really mind. it was a quiet place. some of the neighbors were a bit sketchy, but the owners were nice, and a sweet old lady lived next door and she made him cookies.

every morning at six eleven exactly, bucky would wake up and write about his dream in his journal. he couldn't always tell if they were memories or not, but he would never risk the chance that they were memories and he would forget them. after that, he would leave for about an hour, walk the streets and pick up any stray change or cash he could find, then go back to the apartment building. he'd add half of what he found to his jar which contained the money he was saving for rent. he took the other half and, if he had enough, went to the cafe a couple blocks down and bought a cup of coffee and a muffin.

that was where he was now. at the cafe, drinking his coffee and, well, he hadn't been able to afford the muffin, so just the coffee.

It was one of those days again for her. The kind of day where Mavis would wake up early in the morning and would end up falling asleep just before the exact same hour. Who knew writing would be this difficult sometimes. Her situation, however, made a little sense. Not much happened in Weinstein Hill, it was a small town. She sometimes questioned her decision to become a journalist here.

As she woke up that morning, six-thirty to be exact, it was a wonderful surprise to find out that the ancient coffee maker in her kitchen had finally broken down on her. She'd try to attempt to fix it later, but, the young journalist still required caffeine. So after saying a quick goodbye to Reuben and filling his food bowl, Mavis had her jacket, laptop, and bag and was out her apartment door, onto the streets.

The small bell at the top of the door made a soft chime as she pushed open the door. Walking into the small cafe from the colder morning air, she found herself hit with the strong scent of coffee and small pastries. It was nice; so much so it made Mavis wonder why she hadn't come here more often. There was a quiet atmosphere, that seemed to be broken as she carefully made her way over to the counter. With the time of morning that it was, barely anyone was here - Mavis could pick out one guy sitting by the window, drinking his coffee. Soon enough, she had coffee and a blueberry muffin, and awkwardly sat at one of the empty tables, pulling out her laptop.

bucky looked up quietly from his coffee when the door chimed. usually people didn't come in this time of the day; it was right after when people would stop for work, and right before people would be stopping in for breakfast. the woman who walked in was someone bucky had never seen before. that wasn't a difficult thing, of course; the only place he ever really went outside his apartment was the cafe, and if she hadn't been in recently, he wouldn't know her.

he watched her for a short moment before directing his attention back to his coffee. he did keep an eye on her; it was a bit of a paranoia thing that he had been experiencing since he started running. bucky found that he never quite felt safe anywhere he was, and he always felt the need to be entirely aware of his surroundings. anytime anyone made a sudden movement, he directed more of his attention at them, doing a quick scan over their clothing to check for any unusual wrinkles that could point to a concealed weapon.

when the woman who had walked in pulled out her laptop, his eyes shifted to her and he watched quietly for a few short moments. after convincing himself that she probably wasn't a threat, bucky looked back down at his coffee.

Mavis slightly knew of the eyes on her from when she walked in through the door, but she could definitely sense them in her peripheral vision while she hid her face behind the screen of her laptop before they looked away again. At first it made sense- there was nobody else here at this time of the morning, and she happened to walk in. But because the barista at the front seemed to no longer be paying attention anymore to the world around them, she had a pretty good guess of who the gaze was coming from. Tensing up, and ceasing her quick typing she had started, Mavis drew her eyes up a fragment from her activity to the man a few tables over, an eyebrow raised questioningly.

Even though she could see the top half of him quite well from behind her laptop, it was still difficult to make out who he was with his face turned down towards his single cup of coffee on the table. Did she know him at all? Or was it the other way around? If there even was a chance that Mavis knew the man, it was hard to tell for that very moment.

bucky kept one eye on her even after she turned to look at him, though he was careful to keep most of his attention trained elsewhere. he sipped quietly on his coffee, occasionally focusing more of his attention on the woman who continued to look at him. he was forcefully pulled out of his trance when the door chimed again and an older man walked in. bucky recognized him immediately. he came in almost every morning but never at a specific time so bucky never knew when to expect him. he watched the older male for a moment as he ordered, then he turned his attention back to the woman.

Mavis had a feeling he was paying attention to her, even with his eyes being trained on anything else in the small cafe but her. This was going on for too long, she realized to herself. It was to either do it now or probably miss the chance of figuring out whoever this guy was and what was up with him completely. Tilting she laptop half shut, she leaned over her single table lightly in the direction towards him. The words instantly flew out of her mouth before she had time to figure out a reasonable way of asking things.

"Do I know you or something?" The tone of her voice was almost accusing, but her face didn't look angry at all. It seemed more... intrigued.

bucky looked up in surprise when he heard words directed in his direction. "uhh..." he started awkwardly, not really sure what to say. he hadn't had an actual conversation with another human being in God knows how long. most of the 'conversations' he had participated in involved someone telling him what to do and him doing it. "you- uh- no, you don't.. know me..." was what bucky eventually got out.

"Oh um..." At that moment, there was an almost overwhelming feeling of awkwardness that Mavis had after his response. She was now quiye sure she had seen him at some point, however she couldn't exactly remember where at the moment. Her eyes widened as she tried quickly thinking of how to fix things. Right from the look on his face, it was easy to see that something seemed a little wrong with the confrontation she had sprung on him. "...apologies, guess I thought wrong." She finished.

The young woman relaxed herself, leaning back into her chair. There was a short pause before she continued on a whim. "I'm Mavis then."
