"i'll be careful, but i'm sure she's just a bit ambitious. she'll calm down eventually." he said carefully, trying to soothe his mate's worries. magpietalon noticed blackfire seemed deep in thought and tapped his nose to her head. "why don't you go get mouseberry to check on quickstar, and i'll finish setting up patrols. then we can go hunt together." he offered, being worried about the leader himself.

Buckpaw // tom - apprentice

buckpaw's eyes shot open at magpietalon's annoyed tone, his gaze cloudy and confused. "sorry, magpietalon! i must've overslept." he stood, nudging oceanpaw with his nose. "c'mon, get up. the clan needs to be fed."

Emberpaw // molly - apprentice

"yeah!" she glanced around, a bit confused. "i stashed them somewhere around here." she marched forward, poking her muzzle around a big tree, clearly trying to find the acorns. "i swear i had them..." finally, she started digging up some dirt around a tree root and found the stash. "found 'em!"

Quickstar - Tom
The leader laid his head on his paws. Then he hopped up. Then he sat down. Then he got back up. What was he supposed to be doing again? He hung his head. He hadn't been eating and he'd been very tired lately. He wanted to care for his clan first. If he was to starve, Magpietalon would make a wonderful leader. He sat down, his eyes closing slowly.

Blackfire - She Cat
She nodded slowly, nudging him one more time before wandering to the medicine cats den. "Mouseberry?" She called, stepping into the den. "Magpietalon wants you to check on Quickstar."

Crowpaw - Tom
Crowpaw padded over to Emberpaw. "When did you collect all of these?"

Sneezekit - Tom
Sneezekit is sleeping happily in the nursery, dreaming about becoming a warrior. Me too, Sneezekit.

Lambblast looked at Emberpaw's stash, amazed at the apprentice's wits. "Wow, that sure will help out in the future." The warrior told Emberpaw. "Great thinking!"

*Grapeshine*

The she-cat snorted at Blackfire's response, then padded over to her apprentice, Buckpaw. She decided that she may as well show that she can refill the fresh-kill pile. Maybe then, Quickstar would notice her talents? "Buckpaw? Are you ready to head out and hunt?" The gray fluffy she-cat asked her apprentice.

*Mouseberry*

"H-huh?" Mouseberry looked up at Blackfire, surprised. Her eyes darted around camp, making sure she didn't dose off and miss something important. Realizing that everything was just the same as she left it off as, she got up, and nodded to the former queen and headed over to Quickstar, a tom who she wasn't too shy with.
"Hello, Quickstar." The she-cat greeted, her voice soft and friendly. "How's it going? Are you feeling alright?"

Quollkit's ears drooped down at the sound of her mother's voice. Emletsflower was terrifying when angry, but luckily for her, the calico wasn't only aiming her threats at her. "S-sowwy, mum." Quollkit mewed, leaping away from the entrance of the nursery.

Sneezykit was taken by surprise when he heard Emletsflower. "Right. Sorry, mom." Sneezykit murmured, sniffling. He bounded over to the nest she laid in. He hoped his mother wasn't going to blame him for anything, so he added, "But I wasn't going to go out there, I promise!"

watching blackfire walk off, magpietalon's thoughts filled with worry for their leader. he shook his head, trying to clear his mind, before starting to walking through the camp. he looked around, confused, before realizing nearly everyone had already left camp. he flattened his ears. my hunger must be getting to me, he thought.
he walked over to cheddarstorm, sitting beside the exhausted-looking tom. "why don't you go see mouseberry?" he asked, "you aren't looking so good." he tried to sound firm, but he wasn't sure the warrior would listen to him.

Buckpaw // tom - apprentice

buckpaw quietly huffed, glaring at oceanpaw's sleeping form, before turning quickly to face grapeshine. despite his sour attitude, he put on a happy face and tried to sound excited. "sure! we'll definitely catch something this time."

Emberpaw // molly - apprentice

she purred, puffing out her fur with pride. "i found them by following some weird tracks in the snow." she pushed some over to crowpaw and lambblast, leaving streaks in the snow. turning around, she kicked dirt over the left over acorns, covering them. "we can come back when we're done hunting and bring these back to camp. i'm sure mouseberry won't mind storing them."

Quickstar looked at Mouseberry. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Did Magpietalon send you?" He shook his head. "That cat worries too much, I'm fine." He stood on shaky legs, stretching out before flopping back to the ground, almost unwillingly. He gave Mouseberry a sheepish grin. "Perhaps I'm a bit weak."

Blackfire - She Cat
Blackfire watched Mouseberry pad away, then shook her head. "I suppose I'll go hunting." She murmured to herself.

Crowpaw - Tom
Crowpaw tilted his head. "What kind of weird tracks?" He picked up a few in his mouth, ready to scatter them about to catch something. He was hungry, and he knew the others were too.

the black and white tom awoke in the warrior's den relatively late. he glanced around. no one else was with him. he vaguely smelled grapeshine's scent, making him figure she was last to leave. despite his abundant sleep, he got to his paws tiredly. after cleaning himself from head to tail, he padded out into the clearing. yawning, he looked at quickstar. the spotted leader was laying, rather ungracefully, on the ground next to mouseberry. he looked worse for wear.
xxmontmorency sidled up next to magpietalon and cheddarstorm, not picking up any words spoken. "quickstar isn't looking so good, is he?" montmorency meowed quietly.

clovercloud was dreaming. it was an odd dream - the fluffy she-cat was being chased on the sandy banks of a big river, one she didn't recognize. chased by what, she didn't know. they were brown and as big as monsters, with long fur draping across their thick necks and where a tail would be. most of them had white spots on their faces like clovercloud, but some stretched father than hers. the creatures were gaining on her, kicking up sand. the sand didn't seem to cling to clovercloud's fur. just as one of the creatures was about to touch her grey-tinged tail, she woke up with a jolt. one of her paws kicked the air, and she stood up, shaking her pelt. the warrior's den was empty. she had been nestled into the corner, thus going unseen by montmorency. she trotted into the clearing, avoiding her clanmates' nests littered about the den. it seemed much of the clan was out on a patrol of some sort.

magpietalon startled at montmorency's voice. he quickly collected himself, a twitch of the ear being the only sign he had been frightened. looking back at quickstar made him wince with sympathy for the thin leader. it seemed he and blackfire weren't the only cats worried about him - had everyone picked up on quickstar's dwindling health?

"i'm sure mouseberry will be able to bring him back to himself," he mumbled half-heartedly. quickly turning to give cheddarstorm a pointed look, he added, "and she'll help you, too. until she gives you a clean bill of health, you're not to go on any patrols."

"they were like tiny pawprints," she mewed, trudging around the snow and searching for any traces of prey. "we might have better luck if we put these near tree roots - the last mouse i saw was under one."

He trudged away from the other two, parting his jaw to see if he could catch a whiff of anything. The cold air stung his mouth, and he snapped his jaws shut.
