♛ “okay, cool.” the backyard had some more kegs, a fire pit, and a handful of people. they sat down in front of the pit on the wooden logs. "“so.. you get out often?” eli asked. he usually kept to himself, but he didn’t really want to admit that to panther. he seemed like a pretty nice guy.

Panther laughed, shifting to get comfortable, and so he was more facing Eli. "Not really, I tend to be pretty busy, since I'm going to college full time. Hohepa decided to drag me here to-night, though. They really wanted me to meet you, so here I am," he explained, conveniently leaving out the part where in general, he just really sucked at saying no to people and would probably do some pretty wild things if someone just batted their eyelashes enough. "What about you? You don't really seem like a party type of guy- no offense."

♛ he laughed before saying, "yea, you're right. i didn't want to say no, though. so, here i am." he shrugged. he really didn't know what to say since he was running out of small talk. how were first dates supposed to go, again? mainly, he just wanted to leave the party but didn't know where to go. to his place? that would be even more awkward. panther's place? you can't just subtly ask someone that. anywhere else? no, most places were closed for new year's eve. "it's 11:30 already... here's to another year of mediocre choices!"

"To mediocre choices," Panther repeated, trying to humour Eli by raising his glass. He also sucked at small talk, a lot, and he found himself looking around them quite a bit before he turned to Eli again. "Tell me something about yourself that I wouldn't guess when I first met you. And nothing like 'I don't like country music' - nobody likes country music." he said. It was maybe a little much for a first date, but he couldn't think of anything else to say or do, and he wasn't quite ready to call it quits yet.

♛ "i don't know.. i'm a pretty predictable person. you probably know everything about me just by looking at me." he laughed nervously. to tell the truth, eli was completely ready to go home. he didn't really want to give this blind date a chance anymore, however nice panther may seem. he took a sip of the beer and stood up. "i'm gonna head home, okay?"
