Alessa looked to the plate placed in front of her, then turned to Rayna. "O-oh... w-well, I've been t-taught to wait u-until my mother ate first. T-then I'd get the scraps." Even with Rayna saying it was okay, she still waited for Rayna to start eating. The pup just couldn't break herself of the habit; the nurses would often take their lunch breaks or snack breaks in her room so she would actually eat something. Alessa set Scarlett next to her, closer to Gavin than to Rayna. She thought nothing of it as she set her best friend on the ground.

[lullaby]

Rayna

Rayna frowned, pitying Alessa's past. "Well, you're allowed to help yourself to any food you'd like as long as you're here. And nobody is getting the leftovers of any meal." She promised, sympathizing with the pup.

Gavin

Gavin perked his ears at the sudden stir beside him. He turned around, glaring at the doll being set next to him, before shifting it to Alessa. He picked it up by the end of it's ear gingerly, as if it had been contaminated with a nasty disease. He flung it across the room, grunting in annoyance. "Watch where you set your toys." he growled simply, turning back to his plate.

[Boomer]

Alessa's focus went from Rayna to Gavin as he picked up Scarlett and threw her. Without even thinking, she focused her energy on Scarlett and stopped the toy from hitting the wall. Alessa's golden eyes were glowing, meaning that she was using her telekinesis. A faint purple aura surrounded the toy as it hovered in the air. Alessa brought Scarlett back to her and she clung onto the toy. The glowing around Scarlett and the girl's eyes faded as she slightly rocked back and forth. "Are you okay Scarlett?" asked Alessa quietly, glancing down at the toy. Alessa then rubbed her temples and quietly winced; she always got a headache after using her power. It took her a minute to register that she had used her power in front of her new family. Fear was embedded into her eyes as Alessa backed away from both of the foxes. "I-I... I'm sorry!" she winced, "I... I just..." She was petrified of being hurt again for using her telekinesis. Alessa was frozen in fear, unable to move even with her mind screaming at her to run and hide somewhere safe.

Rayna

Rayna glared at Gavin for his action, turning to apologize to Alessa, before cutting herself off. Her gaze was attracted to a soft purple glow in the corner of her vision. She turned towards the source, agitated. Her eyes dilated in shock on what was happening. Was her eyes playing tricks on her? Unfortunately, she had been disproved of her thoughts as the floating doll had moved towards Alessa, who shared the same purple glow that surrounded the doll. Rayna jumped at the sudden haste in apologizing from Alessa. The fox jumped up from her seat, one paw on the coffee table as the other reached out towards the pup. "No- no, it's okay!" She was still blinded by her thoughts what had just happened before her. She was now barely paying attention to the words leaving from her mouth.

Gavin

Gavin let a half eaten sandwich hang from his mouth, frozen in shock as a supernatural myth had been preformed in front of him. His gaze followed it as it returned itself to Alessa. When Alessa jumped back, the only response he had been able to give was a twitch from his ear, the whole situation leaving him speechless.

[Boomer]

Alessa flinched when Rayna reached for her. Finally her mind allowed her to move as she hightailed upstairs. She hadn't ran that fast in years. Alessa found a closet and shut herself inside it. Although she hated dark rooms, the small and cramped area oddly enough made her feel safe. She shook a bit as she stared at Scarlett; only a sliver of light shone into the closet from the hallway. "W-what have I done?" she whimpered, "My one chance to be normal, to wipe the slate clean... and this happens." The girl buried her muzzle into Scarlett as she teared up. "This isn't fair..." she winced, "I couldn't let you get hurt. If it were the other way around, you'd save me too." When the fire had broken out, Alessa had forced herself to use what little power she could muster up to throw Scarlett out her bedroom window. Scarlett was her first and only friend; she couldn't stand the thought of Scarlett burning in the fire.

Rayna

Rayna pulled her arm away as Aleesa booked it up the staircase, proceeding to blindly hide herself in an unknown room. Rayna sighed, stood up from her seat. She cast a glance at Gavin momentarily, seeing as he had been to shaken to be able to make a move, she climbed up the stairs to begin her search for Alessa. She entered each room warily, expecting to see the white coat of the pup to glow in contrast to the darkness of the rooms. Eventually, near the end of the hallway, she had caught the sound of a soft, muffled sob. She sighed, letting her ears direct her to the room Alessa was hiding in, which was in a nearby closet. Not what she expected,
but she was relieved nonetheless to of found her. She crouched near the door, rising her tone in a soft, concerned voice. "Alessa?
Are you alright..? You weren't in trouble.." She frowned, assuming that her outburst had contributed mostly to fear than anything.

[Boomer]

Alessa quieted herself down as Rayna said her name. She let out a shaky sigh as she looked right at the door. She could tell from Rayna's tone that she wasn't going to hit her. The pup slowly reached up and turned the knob, allowing the door to swing open on its own. Even though she wasn't using her power, her eyes slightly glowed in the darkness; at least part of her eyes as her hair covered her face. She nervously flicked her tail. "I-I'm sorry..." she said quietly, "I-I won't do it again, I promise."

[lullaby]

Rayna

Rayna smiled sadly as Alessa allowed the door to be opened. She backed out of it's way, before moving forward closer to Alessa. "Shh..It's okay." She brought a paw up to stroke the pup's hair gently, more of a hover as she was careful not to snag a claw on one of her many tangles. "You did nothing wrong, so there isn't any reason for you to be apologizing. You just caught us off guard is all." She soothed. She decided to push her thoughts to the back of her mind to think about later. She still hadn't of processed what had just happened, but continued to comfort the pup from her troubles.

[Boomer]

Alessa shifted her gaze to the floor when Rayna came closer. She was just so nervous and anxious. The pup brought her knees to her chest and rested her chin on them. Scarlett was still in her paws. "I... I didn't want to scare you." she said quietly, "I had to protect Scarlett. S-she's my best friend in the whole world, a-and I know if it were the other way around, she'd keep me from g-getting hurt." The pup looked to Scarlett for a moment before forcing a small smile. "Scarlett was the only nice thing my mother ever did for me." whispered Alessa, "We've been together since my first birthday."

Rayna

Ranya gave yet another sad smile, the small backstory tearing her up inside. ”It’s okay. We know you didn’t mean to.” she paused, before adding on in a change of subject. ”Are you still hungry? Or would you rather go see your new room first?” she asked, figuring it best if they both stopped dwelling on this subject.
