As kin listened to Elsevier speak, he shook his head in dismay. "I could never put you in that situation." Kin raised his head to meet Els' eyes, admiring the slight twinkle they still had in them. "I don't want to get you hurt- My world is very different from yours." Kin said, partially hoping that Elsevier would persist, and partially be hoping he would agree.

Kin felt a special way about Elsevier. He didn't want to see another person that he felt for hurt. In the back of Kin's mind, a thought nagged. You could teach him how to fight- make him strong again.You wouldn't be alone anymore. Kin half wanted that as well. He wanted to train Elsevier, wanted to make him strong enough to fight the demons of the world. Then again, getting Els hurt, or worse, killed, would crush Kincaid. He stayed silent for a moment, thinking his options over.

[Northstar.]

Elsevier gives Kin a flat, challenging stare, one eyebrow raising in a perfect arc. His teeth catch the light as he smirks. "I won't get hurt. I'll be fine," he says, brushing off Kincaid's concern like idle dust. In all actuality Elsevier probably would get hurt, but he thought it would be better to get hurt with someone to help him back up then no one at all. "Teach me, Kin," Elsevier says brightly, leaning forward to stare into pale blue eyes with enthusiasm. He debates with himself for a minute before opening his mouth again.

"I was on the queen's guard," he adds to his case, chin tilting up. "I do know how to defend myself." Mostly against more, ya know, mortal creatures and with swords instead the thing that made his ears ring, and of course not in this strange world where everything was completely different, but that's beside the point. And he definitely doesn't bother to add that Solungarde had been at peace for - oh - about a hundred years. "Please?"

Kin grunted in thought and rolled his eyes in annoyance. He licked his lips before talking, "Fine, fine. I'll teach you everything I know." Kin knew this was going to end up as another bad idea, but part of him felt relieved that Elsevier wanted to stick with him. "We need to start training soon so that we can move on to the harder jobs that might find my dad." Kin smiled, ready to start showing someone else the family business.

Ever since Sam left, Kin wasn't sure what to do with himself. His father had gone off previously to work for the family business and hasn't returned since. Kin hated to admit it, but he missed them. He at least knew that Sam was safe, as the two talked regularly on the phone. Kin had vowed to Sam that he would find dad alive. So now, he was on the hunt.

It was now later that Kin preferred to stay up. "We can start training tomorrow, I've already got a tip-off for a new location." Kin said, a smile on his face. He was excited to show Elsevier and watch him learn. "I'll get you some blankets to sleep on. I suppose if you're going to be staying with me I should look into getting another bed, aye?" Kin stood to grab the blankets and looked back down to Elsevier with butterflies in his heart.

[Northstar.]

Elsevier grins as Kin concedes; he thought the other man might put up more of a fight over it. "Thanks Kincaid," he murmurs. "I won't let you down," he promises brightly. He really has no clue what he's getting into, but Els finds he doesn't mind too much. He's quickly discovering that Kin is very different from anyone else he's ever met, and he finds that he likes that.

Elsevier stretches lazily as Kin says something about blankets, his mind now on tomorrow and all it would bring. He's brought out of his thoughts when Kin says he should get a bed. "Uh- you don't have to do that!" Els says quickly, not wanting to cause Kin any trouble. "This- this is fine!" He pats the couch as if to show Kin that the couch is perfectly acceptable to sleep on for the foreseeable future. Elsevier's smile is sheepish as he looks up at Kincaid.

"I know you won't." Kin said, humming with happiness as he saw that Elsevier was excited to work with him. "We can start with something easy tomorrow, but I'll keep that a secret." Kin stood from the couch and walked off to get some comfy blankets and some nice sheets for Elsevier. When he returned, his arms were filled to the brim with blankets and couple of pillows.

Kin smirked as he watched Elsevier try and convince him that he didn't need a bed. "I hope you'll stay with me for a while. We'll mostly be on the road and be in motels, but when we aren't we'll be here. I think you'd prefer to come home to a nice bed." Kin said with a smile, ready to listen to Els' retort.

ooc: no worries dude, I've had little motivations today as well.

[Northstar.]

Elsevier is kind of excited for tomorrow. His eyes hold a glint that doesn't fade even as Kin returns with an armful of blankets. Els takes the blankets gently from Kin with a wide grin and sets about making the couch. He mumbles to himself about the strange material of the blankets - much softer than the threads of home, unless you counted furs - as he tucks the sheets.

"Fine," Elsevier concedes, shaking his head with a grin. His own bed did sound nice, despite the fact that he found the couch perfectly acceptable. More than acceptable, actually. He takes a seat, looking up at Kin. His gaze is warm and open, grateful that this man, of all people, had found him.

"I'm glad we see eye-to-eye." Kin said, smiling back at Elsevier. "I'll start looking for a bed for you tomorrow, but there no telling if we'll get a call or. not, so stay on your toes." Kin smiled again as he looked at Elsevier and the makeshift bed that he made. Kin too was excited for tomorrow, though he wasn't sure how Els would react to the guns and the sounds they made. He was fairly certain that Els would be able to handle it.

"Get some rest, we'll be up early tomorrow," Kin said, turning away from Elsevier. He pushed the hair from his head to keep it from getting in his eyes. He was more than excited to show Els his side of the world, as it was rare to get to show someone else what Kin did for a living.

[Northstar.]

Elsevier sleeps like a rock. No terrors haunt his dreams and curiosity drives him awake before the sun rises. The world is quieter in the darkened morning hours and he spends a few minutes staring out the window as cars pass. The headlights of the metal contraptions entrance him as they zoom down the street. He finds that he likes this world more with every new discovery.

Later Elsevier asks Kin where to bathe and figures out the mechanisms of a shower(he finds it odd but much more suitable than toting buckets, and he's sure to tell Kincaid so), and after being mind-blown by the toaster(that he doesn't like so much; it makes him jump every time) Elsevier finds himself excited for what Kin will teach him. "I am prepared," Els declares brightly to Kin. His face is lit with unchecked happiness as he bounces around Kin's home like a bunny on a serious sugar high. Maybe he had a bit too much coffee- the dark liquid was bitter but Els found he liked that, too.

Kincaid slept peacefully as well, though he had the usual nightmare that took over his dream realm. It was a reoccurring dream, which to someone who knew the supernatural well, it wouldn't turn out good for Kin. When Kin woke from his slumber, he let out a large lion-like yawn, accompanied by a stretch to match. He knew that Els would be up by now and he licked that- finally having someone to wake up with- a friend.

Kincaid slipped out of bed and admired Elsevier as he walked to find where the man had gone off too. After finding Els, he leads him to the shower and laughed as he tried to turn it on. "This may take some time, but eventually you'll get the hang of it." He accompanied Elsevier through the other daily routines, helping him get ready for the day. Kin quickly found out that coffee should be limited for Elsevier though. "Let's just get out of here and head to the range." Kin said, a laugh escaping him. He'd never seen someone so interesting and intriguing as Elsevier.

[Northstar.]

Elsevier is absolutely buzzing! He follows along behind Kincaid at a jaunty hop-step- curiously stopping occasionally to remark on something he hadn't noticed the day before. Like doorknobs! They were so odd! And the locks on them didn't look all that sturdy to Elsevier. And don't get him started on the television. That would be best saved for another day. Once in the familiar carriage - car - Els calms considerably, leaning back comfortably in the seat to watch the view pass by.

"What is first for today?" he questions, head tilting as he listens to the tiny voices through the radio. He figures he'll get used to it eventually. They pass the red 'eye' when it turns green and Els watches it warily until it disappears from sight. Then a huge... creature... roars past. "A dragon!" Elsevier whispers dramatically to himself, counting the wheels. Eighteen of them. Ah, a carriage then. He turns his gaze sheepishly to Kincaid, a self-depreciating grin on his lips, hoping he hadn't heard his odd little comment.
