[Northstar.]

"Cool off? But I am not overheated," Elsevier remarks, head tilted to the side in confusion. He was just happy this man was not leaving him alone, where the demon had once been growling in his face.

Elsevier trails along behind Kincaid, practically hopping in his footsteps. Then they come upon... The Car. Elsevier abruptly stops, even as his new friend moves forwards. It was a shiny contraption, indeed. With wheels that weren't wooden very strange and clear glass windows. It was... well, lovely. Elsevier runs a curious hand along the roof and door before pulling open the shiny handle. He doesn't pay any mind to Kincaid waiting on him as he curiously looks in the vehicle, from the window crank on the door, to the air vents at the dash, and especially the buttons. Elsevier makes a little 'huh' sound as he closes the door behind him and spies a lever. "What does this do..." he asks, even as he pulls at it and the seat leans back. Elsevier huffs a chuckle and sits the seat back up.

"I like this car," he declares with a grin. It was much more comfy than a carriage. "It is marvelous!" The gray eyed man leans forward to inspect the buttons on the radio. "What do these do?"

Kin couldn't help but to laugh as Elsevier messed around inside his car. He knew this man has either been locked away for a very, very, long time, or he was from a completely different realm-- which at this point, wouldn't surprise Kin. It almost felt like slow motion as Kin watched Elsevier reach for the stereo. "Don't touch that." Kincaid said quickly. He reached his large hand out and enclosed Elsevier's hand, just to stop him from touching his pristine radio. "Driver picks the music." Kin sat there for a moment, his hand wrapped around Elsevier's still, very unsure of what to do now.

Elsevier freezes as Kin grabs his hand an inch away from the button. His blue-gray eyes comically widen until they're as round as saucers and Elsevier's mouth hangs open. Is the button... Bad? he wonders. Was something wrong with it? Would it hurt? ... And then Elsevier smiles. It must be a custom! Of course only a driver could pick music! What an interesting culture!

"Would you please play something, Kincaid?" Els asks, all polite and well-mannered with a thinly veiled, excited eagerness. His hand remains beneath Kin's until the button is pressed and sound flows like water. Elsevier jerks back, startled at the abrupt noise, hair ruffled with surprise. He observes the speakers that sound seems to come from. "Are... Are there tiny... people in there?" he questions morbidly, his eyes almost horrified at the thought.

Kin let go of Elsevier's hand absentmindedly. He looked to the other mans face with more curiosity and laughed as Elsevier was content with the radio once more. "Yeah, yeah sure." Kin turned the button on and smooth old rock washed over the inside of the car. Kin shook his head and laughed at Elsevier's manners and good behavior. "Relax Elsevier, relax." Kin said, watching his reaction to the stereo. "It's electronic, it comes from my CD player." Kin said, pointing the where the CD player was on his console. "You put disks in here and it plays music for you." Kin smirked as Elsevier asked his question-- Theres no way in Hell this kid is from here.

Kincaid shook his head and put the old car in gear. He was careful to take it slow in order not to scare the man in his passenger seat. As Kin backed from the spot and drove off, he shifted the gears comfortably, nothing keeping his eyes on the road and on Elsevier. Kin took the long way home to let Elsevier watch the road go by and take in the scenes, as it was the least he could do for him.

Elsevier looks all too relieved as Kin explains the workings of the radio. His shoulders relax as he sinks back in the seat, tense, nervous muscles slowly unwinding. The music was exquisite and foreign- unlike anything he had ever heard. It was so different from the bards and musicians of his home(who were admittedly cold, and calloused and more often than not very pompous). The former immortal is so lost in the sounds, the tones, the words, that he doesn't even startle as the car starts forward.

"Amazing," he murmurs, breath puffing against the glass as the vehicle drives down smooth, black roadways. Every time another car passes his eyes follow it with interest, completely enamored with the different colors and styles and shapes. His eyes are drawn to the architecture of homes and businesses as they pass- so very strange to one accustomed to stone castles. At one point he gasps as they come upon a red stoplight. "It is looking at me," he declares warily to Kincaid, leaning forward to peer at the 'eye' as it turns green. "What a strange world," Elsevier mumbles to himself with a small grin, "I think I like it."

Kin would take an occasional glance at Elsevier as he drove, admiring the mans admiration for his world. Elsevier admired the small and large things in life, and he had only been here for, what Kin had guessed, a couple of hours- if not less. He grinned cheekily as the two pulled up to a stop light. Elsevier of course found the light very intriguing, which made Kin chuckle at the other mans words. "Yeah, I like it when it's green too." Kin said jokingly, knowing that Elsevier would only understand the color, and not the actual purpose of the light.

As Kin pulled into the large city area, he drove along the smaller, more narrow roads with ease. He never thought he'd be a big city man, but it turns out that he preferred the lights and sounds of the city. After about five minutes of driving, he pulled into a parking garage, parked in his designated spot, and turned off the ignition. "You can stay with me if you'd like it." Kin said, looking to Elsevier with curious eyes. "Theres enough room for you to stay, so it won't be a problem, but-" Kin said, driving off. He wasn't sure whether or not to ask the man about his origins. "I'd like to know where your from. I hope you understand but it'd be weird for me to invite a stranger in my home- especially in my line of business."

[Northstar.]

Elsevier grins at Kincaid as they pass the 'eye,' (deducing that the 'eye' must be angry when red and happy when green) and continues to stare out the window like an excited child. The parking garage that comes into view reminds him of the castle - though not nearly as cold - and he wonders what kind of stone it was carved from. "I don't know how I'll ever repay your hospitality," Elsevier murmurs, peering at Kincaid with a bright smile at the man's offer.

Elsevier doesn't understand Kincaid's hesitation; asking the origins of a stranger wasn't intrusive. Far from it, especially if you wanted to stay alive in court games. Still, the query makes him uncomfortable and he wonders if this man who saved him could possibly believe him. His bright expression fades to slightly furrowed, worried brows.

"I came from Faerie, though we call it Solungarde," Elsevier says slowly, not meeting Kincaid's gaze. He stuffs his hands in his pockets and wonders if Kin thinks he's insane. He probably wouldn't believe himself if the situation were reversed. Whoever heard of someone falling out of a portal into Solungarde? Now falling into a portal, on the other hand... All too common, especially with the queen involved.

Kin was still turned to Elsevier as he watched the other mans movements. He watched as the man furrowed his brow and though, which made Kin himself think. I don't know.. Theres something about you that I like, a certain simpleness thats humbling. I'm getting ahead of myself though, I need to find out who you really are first.

Kin shook the thoughts from his head as he heard Elsevier begin to talk. His own brows furrowed and his eyes grew wide when the other man told him where he was from. Taken slightly back, Kin hesitantly spoke, "I- I'm not sure I know where thats at." He looked over Elsevier's face, searching for clues of something, though he wasn't sure what. Though Kin had seen and heard far worse things, he decided to take Elsevier's information in at one piece at a time. Kin noticed Elsevier's nervous look and movements and hoped that he wasn't the one causing him to be nervous.

"You can tell em what happened if it was something bad." Kincaid, looking back to Elsevier's face, concerned. He had never felt concerned for anyone that he's saved before. Oh well, something bad happened to you? Something bad happens to all of us. Get over it. "Here, how about we go upstairs before we get into this. I can make you something to eat and get you a change of clothes."

[Northstar.]

Elsevier's gaze jerks up to Kincaid's as the man begins speaking and he smiles wryly. At least he didn't throw me in an asylum. Or laugh. Els isn't sure which would have been worse.

"That would probably be best," Elsevier murmurs his consent as they head inside. When he looks around Kincaid's home that curious glimmer is still there, but muted, and he makes no comment on anything he sees. His hands stay in his pockets, shoulders slightly drooped.

"Solungarde lies in the veil between worlds," he begins slowly once they're settled inside. "It does not exist on this plane." Els pulls a coin from his pocket - a golden, solid thing with the queen's crest on it- and begins to flip it between his fingers. "There are no... mortals there," he continues, wincing just a bit - now he was mortal- "Fairies are most the common citizen, followed by elves, brownies and many other minor species." Elsevier is frozen for a moment, biting on his lip nervously. "I was right hand to the queen, a knight of the court. I disobeyed her and she threw me out. Now... I'm mortal, too." His eyes dart up to Kincaid's pale eyes and Elsevier offers him a lopsided smile.

As the two arrived to Kincaid's apartment, Kin gave a sigh of approval. He figured that his apartment would be messy, but for once, it wasn't. "You can sit anywhere you like." Kin said, making his way to the kitchen to make something for his new friend. He figured chicken tenders and some microwavable mac and cheese would be good enough for Elsevier. As the food cooked, he leaned comfortably against the wall in order to hear Els better.

Kin tried to remember everything that Els said, that way he wouldn't be as confused later. His listed intently, trying to wrap his head around the whole situation. Once he met eyes with Els, it was like he understood everything all at once. "So she sent you here through that portal then?" Kin asked, now realizing that it wasn't the Demon's portal, but Elsevier's. "And what did you do so wrong to get you banished like that?" Kincaid asked, turning back to the kitchen to retrieve Elsevier's food.
