"Sir Elsevier of House Krimmalkin, I banish you for treason and conspiracy. May you never return while breath fills your lungs."

The words poke at his skin as he's tossed into the portal, still aching after his queen tore his immortality from his veins. Apparently, 500 years of loyal service did not protect one from the frayed mind of a crazed Unseelie queen. She even took his sword - of all things - Elsevier was lucky she let him keep the clothes on his back. He gasps as cold rolls over his skin, seeps into his lungs, constricts around his throat - and finally, finally, the portal spits him out.

The exiled knight lands on his hands and knees- gasping for breath, ears ringing. His palm and knees his a hard wood floor - and looks up to find an unfamiliar world and hateful black eyes staring into his soul. He freezes, stuck in the malicious gaze and wonders just where he has landed.

Dust particles flew through the air as Kincaid rolled through the woods in his 1969 Dodge Charger. A certain gleam caught his eyes as he arrived to the scene of the murder. What the hell? Kin watched as a large demon, who for once didn't inhabit someone else, loomed over a young man, somebody probably about his age. Must be a demon gone rouge kind of thing. Probably got tired of his host.Kin shrugged off his thoughts and stepped quietly out of the vehicle, careful to avoid detection.

As he rounded the end of the car, Kin popped the back hood, revealing the arsenal that he carried everywhere with him. He picked up the shotgun nonchalantly and rolled it over in his large hands, feeling and admiring the weight that came with the power of the weapon. Another growl came from the creature that looked the man under him over, which made Kin roll his eyes. He slammed his hood and walked briskly around the front of the car. "You might want to shield your eyes." He said, looking to the man and then back to the entity that surrounded him.

Elsevier is trapped in that strange gaze, and so confused and lost that nothing else registers. Not the purr of the engine, the scent of oil and fumes, or even the slamming of the trunk. Only the growl of the beast spurns him into motion. Elsevier scrambles back as if on fire, hands scrabbling at the ground, and ends up sprawled on his rear with dark eyes in his face.

A voice breaks his attention from the dark entity. His gaze jerks towards the sound, seeing a figure holding a strange... weapon perhaps. The former immortal takes the warning to heart and quickly covers his face. His heart beats a taciturn rhythm in his chest as fear bubbles up his throat. They definitely didn't have these creatures where he came from and he sorely hoped they weren't common.

Kin cocked the shotgun filled with salt ammunition, ready to fight this beast and send it back to Hell where it belonged. The portal had now closed, which struck Kincaid with curiosity. With a Steele gaze, Kin popped the beast with a shotgun shell. The loudness of shot no longer effected Kin, as he'd already mostly blown his ears out between guns and his loud music. The demon before him curled up with a his, now diverting his attention to Kincaid. "Come get it." Kin said, coaxing and taunting the pitch black mass. Kin whipped out his trusty bible pages and cited off the needed lines to banish the demon back to Hell. As he spoke, the demon charged, but began to get weaker and weaker. One more cock of the gun and a blast to the face, the demon was no more.

The young male wiped his hands off and walked back to the back side of his car, ready to clean up and get some grub. Kin had nearly forgot about the man that cowered on the ground, to scared to move. He raised and eyebrows as a confused looked washed over his face. Kin out the gun down and headed back towards the unknown man.

Elsevier gasps as the shot rings out, jerking back as if stung. His breath puffs out as his ears ring strangely, hearing the scattershot of salt pinging off the ground. Warily, he opens his eyes, gray gaze observing where the beast had once been. Huh, where'd it go? he wonders. Surely it couldn't have just disappeared. Elsevier shakes his head to rid his ears of the ringing and it slowly fades.

The elf slowly stands, brushing off his pants of debris, and notices that figure striding towards him. His eyes widen minutely, hair falling in his face as he freezes. Elsevier's mouth does an odd goldfish expression as he observes the man's clothes. They surely weren't elven made; he had never seen the material before. What odd land had the queen thrown him into? His heart slows to a regular thump-thump as he realizes the man carries no weapon.

"Uhm, thank you," he says awkwardly, head tilting curiously to the side, unsure of his footing in this world. Did one thank a stranger for destroying whatever that thing was? Was that polite? "What... er what was that??" he questions, pulling a stray leaf from his hair.

Kin knelled down to get to eye level with the strange man before him. He looked the other man over as he listened to him talk. Curious... His clothes look hand made. He looked over the man's face, studying his features with a steely gaze. After the man was done talking, Kin had to shake his absent thoughts from his mind and return back to reality. "Oh." Kin said, unsure of what to tell the man. He looked dazed, and very very confused- of course not unlike anyone else he's rescued, but this man looked different. "That was a demon. It's hard to explain really, but you're lucky I got here when I did."

Kin stood again and held out a hand to help the man up. "Kincaid Berk." Kin said calmly, waiting for the man to grab his hand. "You don't quite look like you're from around here." A couple of cars passed by on the highway that sat across from the two men, causing a slight wind to blow through Kin's hair.

Elsevier's head tilts to the side, regarding Kincaid calmly and with no small amount of piqued curiosity. He sincerely hoped he would never cross paths with another demon again. "They aren't very friendly," Els remarks dryly. His eyes widen at the man's offered hand before taking it gently and allowing him to help him to his feet.

"Elsevier... er.. Krimm," the elf introduces, rubbing the back of his neck.

Elsevier laughs at Kin's comment, hard enough that his cheeks turn pink and his eyes glisten with mirth. His teeth flash brightly as he grins, "You have no idea." The passing cars startle the former immortal and he jerks to watch as they pass. His jaw unhinges as the metal beasts roll by smoothly. What sorcery was this?? "Are those demons, too?" he questions quickly, pupils dilated with worry as the cars disappear from sight.

Kincaid smiled as he resumed his overview of Elsevier. He raised an eyebrow hat his last question asked, and looking to the man as a whole, reading his body language with ease. Kin turned to see another car whiz by, and was somewhat confused by Else's question. Maybe he fell? Or maybe that demon really did get to him? Kin ran through possible options on what happened to the man, as he was quite confused with Elsevier's confusion. "Those?" He asked, pointing to a car that passed by, "That's a car? You know, like the ones you drive in?" Kin felt a little stupid for the way he talked to the man, but he wasn't sure if Elsevier was being serious or not.

"Listen, you seem like you might need some help." Kin said evaluating Elsevier's stance and movements once again. "Why don't I take you to a hospital?" He asked, actually concerned for once about someone else's safety. He had hardly known this man for five minutes, yet he could tell that something was very different about him. Very different....

[Northstar.]

"Ah, like a carriage!" Elsevier says excitedly, eyes brightening, suddenly far more interested in these strange things called cars. How did they work if horses didn't pull them? And why did they growl? He grins at Kincaid, so very proud that he had deduced that himself. Perhaps he could grow to like this world! It seemed so very interesting!

"Hospital? If it would please you," Elsevier shrugs and concedes to Kincaid's offer easily. He did not know what a hospital was, but surely it would be a friendly place! It's not like he had anywhere else to go. That singular thought deflates Elsevier like a needle to a balloon. His eyes lose that bright, curious glimmer and his shoulders slump like a puppet with strings cut. How would he make a home here in this strange world? His eyes dart to Kincaid and he brightens again so suddenly.

"Do you have a carriage- er car? Shall we ride in it?" Elsevier asks chirpily, once again excited about these strange metal things. He tucks a few strands of stray hair behind a pointed ear and bounces on his toes like a hyped-up retriever puppy.

Like a what? Kin was rather, dumbfounded at watching this Man's actions and the way he talked. It was like he was from a completely different world. Maybe he's Amish? Wild thoughts raced through Kin's mind as he tried to figure Elsevier out. He smirked as he watched the man in front of him go through three different emotions in under a minute. "Lets just uh, let's take you somewhere to cool off." Kin said, nodding towards his car. "I'll just take you to my place for now." Kin said, confused with him, unsure of what to do with him.

Kincaid headed back to the car and rounded the back to finish cleaning up so the two could set off. It was just now beginning to get dark outside. He figured that if he could get himself and Elsevier home, maybe he could figure out who this man really was and where he was from. After he closed up in the back, Kin slid into the drivers seat of his beloved vehicle and waited on his newfound companion.
