Alessa nodded as she held onto Scarlett. The girl was glad to get out of the hospital again. She allowed him to pick her up and she relaxed once she got settled. "I-I like the cookies, b-but I think I need something a little more healthy..." she said quietly, looking up to Pound Cake, "B-but we can have cookies later."

Pound Cake gently picked up Alessa and walked out of the hospital with her. Truthfully, he was nearly as glad to get out of the hospital as she was. The bat gave a warm laugh, smiling down at her, " I think you're absolutely right. Cookies for dinner probably wouldn't be very healthy" He said, " Well, what would you like for dinner? I can make just about anything you want" . Pound Cake was glad to cook Alessa anything she wanted. It sort of struck him as almost funny that she wouldn't want cookies for dinner; though he wasn't going to let her do it. Most little kids would just love to eat dessert for dinner.

"I haven't had a lot of different food..." said Alessa quietly, trying to think, "Um... I guess whatever you want to make, I'll try." She trusted Pound Cake a lot more now, as he helped her and didn't break his promise. Although she paused a few times, she was at least comfortable enough not to stutter. The pup shut her eyes as she cradled Scarlett. "What time is it?" she murmured.

Pound Cake nodded, understanding. " Hmm, how about macaroni and cheese? And a nice salad?" He offered. It was quick and easy to make and he was fairly sure she would like it. The young man smiled a bit as he noticed her stutter had lessened. " What time is it?" He repeated, " I'm not really sure." Careful not to disturb her in his arms, Pound Cake checked his wrist watch " It's a little past 5:30". he announced, " And we're home, just in time for me to start dinner." The bat opened the door and walked in, " Would you like to lay here on the couch so you can watch television? Or would you rather lay down on bed?" He asked her, wanting her to have the freedom to choose

"That sounds fine to me." she answered, giving a nod. She didn't recall ever have mac 'n cheese or salad before. The pup was relieved to be home. Deciding between the couch and her bed, Alessa was quiet as she thought of an answer. "Whichever is easiest for you." she finally replied, "I'm not picky." Alessa still wasn't used to having so much freedom, she liked having the adults decide.

" Alrighty, Macaroni and cheese with salad it is then" Pound Cake nodded approvingly. He smiled at her answer, " Either is okay with me. It's really no trouble, i just want you to be comfortable. " he said thoughtfully, " Your bed will probably be the most comfortable." Pound Cake took her upstairs and set her gently on the bed. " Now, is there anything I can get you before I go fix dinner? If you get bored, I have a lot of books in the other bedroom and I also have plenty of paper and things to draw with, you can have them if you want." He offered.

[Boomer]

Alessa nodded as she was brought to her room. She curled up with the quilt, then shook her head. "I think I'll be taking a nap." she whispered. The pup cuddled with Scarlett, then shut her eyes. The pup was tired from the whole experience and wanted to rest until it was time for dinner. "Today flew by..." she mumbled.

" Mmm" He nodded, giving an approving nod. Pound Cake knew that she was exhausted from everything that had happened today. Truthfully, the bat was a bit tired himself. He smiled softly down at her, " Yeah it has flown by, hasn't it?" Pound Cake gently tucked the covers a bit closer around her. " Get some sleep, I'll keep dinner warm until you wake up, alright?" He said quietly, in case she had already dozed off.

"Wake me, please..." said Alessa softly, "I don't want you to wait." The pup struggled to stay awake, but she soon fell asleep. Alessa slept rather peacefully, which was a tad unusual for her. Typically Alessa would have a nightmare about her mother or the accident. She was far too tired to even have a good dream.

Pound Cake quietly walked out, closing the door with a soft click. He softly padded downstairs and then started on dinner as quietly as possible. The young man couldn't help but think about all that had happened that day. It had practically been a blur and had been an emotional whirlwind. Pound Cake didn't know how he felt exactly, but he did know he was happy. Alessa had been the best thing to ever happen to him.
