" I remember" He said, wincing. Pound Cake squeezed his eyes shut, resting his head back on the grass. " Kiddo... I'm sorry" He said quietly. The bat opened his eyes and looked over at Alessa" It's my job to protect you and... well..." He gave a soft sigh, gently putting his hand on her smaller paw, " I know.... I'm not the greatest dad, but.... I want you to know I love you kiddo." Pound Cake's voice was a little weak and dreamy, but he meant every word, " I promise I'm gonna do everything I can to protect you and keep you safe, no matter what.Things look a little bleak now, but everything will be okay"

[Boomer]

Alessa appeared to be panicked now. "A-are you dying?!" she barked. She didn't understand why Pound Cake was acting so strange. She felt like hiding as she heard the ambulance's siren. They were close now, which made her want to flee. Alessa was too weak to bolt.

" What?" Pound Cake blinked confusedly, though his thoughts were fuzzy, he registered her question, " No, no i'm not dying, cupcake. i'll be fine" He insisted. Tulee put her hand to his forehead as if he had a fever. " You aren't acting fine." She muttered under her breath. Pound Cake rolled his eyes, " I heard that, long ears." He cracked a small smile though he looked exhausted. As he heard the ambulance, pound Cake wasn't sure if he was relieved or more worried- he knew how Alessa felt about doctors and hospitals. " Alessa-" Pound Cake started, but was cut off by a cough

[Boomer]

Alessa's eyes were widened with fear as the ambulance stopped a few feet from them. She glared at the EMTs as they approached the group. Determining that Pound Cake looked the worst, they got him onto the first gurney. After putting him inside, Alessa growled like a feral animal as they came back to get her onto the second gurney.

Pound Cake was too exhausted to protest as the EMTs put him on the gurney. Subconsciously, he tried to pull his large wings closer to his body, but they ached too badly to move. His right wing was still bent awkwardly to the side. Though, Pound Cake was slowly beginning to feel a strange numbness instead of pain. Part of him wanted just to just to sleep and forget everything for a while, but he forced himself to stay awake. Pound Cake tried to push himself up so he could see Alessa, but he couldn't seem to find the energy to do it. " Alessa" He said, " It'll be alright. I promise, they aren't going to hurt you and I'm right here, kiddo."

[Boomer]

Alessa was too tired and weak to struggle as she was pulled onto the gurney. She was loaded inside and was right next to Pound Cake. As one of them gestured for Tulee to join them, the other got an IV started for Pound Cake. Alessa pulled away and struggled as it was her turn for an IV.

Tulee didn't hesitate to follow the EMTs, worried sick about Alessa and Pound Cake. She had seen Pound Cake over use his powers before, but she'd never seen him in this bad of a shape in a long time.

Pound Cake didn't flinch as the EMTs began the IV; he was oblivious to pretty much everything going around him as he felt himself slipping into a semi-consciousness. It was a struggle to keep awake, but he was trying his best not to let sleep overtake him. Pound Cake shifted slightly and reached out for Alessa's tiny paw with his free hand. " I'm right here, kiddo" He murmured almost inaudibly.

[Boomer]

Alessa stopped as the IV was finally placed. The doors slammed shut and the sirens blared as they were taken to the hospital. Both of them were hooked up to monitors and had their blood pressure taken. Alessa didn't flinch when she was hooked up; it was routine to her at this point. She only fought the IV because she didn't want to be stuck with another needle.

Pound Cake rested his head back, still gently holding Alessa's paw. He knew she hated needles and he desperately wished there was some way that he could comfort her. At the moment, the best he could do was try to stay awake and mostly conscious.

Tulee anxiously watched as the EMTs worked, she obviously couldn't help either of them. Alessa still didn't trust her and Pound Cake looked pretty much out of it. All she could do was wait and hope that they got to the hospital soon. Still, Tulee was glad that the EMTs had let her stay with Pound Cake and Alessa.

Alessa stared at the ceiling as the ambulance rushed them to the hospital. It didn't take them long to get there. Once the ambulance stopped and the doors opened, Alessa and Pound Cake were pushed into the ER. They were put into a room together, but separated by a curtain as they were put into gowns. Alessa didn't feel any pain as her blood was drawn via her IV port.
