[Boomer]

"I won't break, I promise..." she said quietly, moving towards the kitchen. Alessa found a bowl and put some various fruit into it before going back into the living room. She set the bowl next to Pound Cake as she sat down. "See? I'm okay." she said, flipping her paws up and down for him to see.

Pound Cake gave a warm laugh," Okay, okay you have me there. You're pretty strong, kiddo" He insisted, " I know you won't break, but still I don't want your leg to hurt and I'm perfectly capable of getting myself fruit. " Pound Cake smiled at her fondly as she came back with fruit for him, " Thank you, Alessa" He said, touched that she cared about him enough to get it for him. Pound Cake munched on the fruit, almost immediately feeling a bit less drowsy.

[Boomer]

"I've dealt with worse pain, my leg isn't too bad." she replied, glancing over to him. Alessa was happy that Pound Cake was eating the fruit; she noticed that he already seemed a little better. She looked out the window when she heard a boom of thunder. She wasn't afraid of the thunder, she hated the idea of going outside and getting her coat wet. Alessa was more afraid of her coat parting itself and her burn scars would be visible.

Pound Cake nodded thoughtfully as he finished off an orange. He wasn't exactly sure what to say as she said that she had gone through pain far worse than the soreness in her leg. The bat didn't doubt that she had been through a lot. He admired her strength and perseverance for all that she had been through. Still, Pound Cake didn't want Alessa in any pain that could be prevented. Ruffling his wings, Pound Cake looked out the window at the rain, "Well... it looks like we won't be walking to the shops in this weather" He said thoughtfully.

[Boomer]

"Maybe we should wait..." said Alessa quietly, "We can get that pizza... unless you had a different idea?" The pup looked to the TV and noticed it was flickering. The power soon went out, which made Alessa jump. "W-what's going on?" she winced, a little panicked. She hadn't dealt with a power outage before.

" Yeah, we can have a pizza delivered- " Pound Cake started, but he was cut off by the loud clap of thunder. As the lights went dark, he wasn't exactly worried, " Whoa there kiddo, take it easy. "He said, " The power just went out, it's no big deal. It'll come back on soon, I'm sure " Pound Cake grabbed his phone and slipped it in his pocket in case he needed it if there was an emergency. Since it was still daylight, it wasn't terribly dark. Still, Pound Cake decided to get a couple of flashlights and his lantern becasue he wasn't sure how long the power outage would last. The bat stood up and walked into the kitchen to rummage through the draws. After producing a couple of flashlights, he offered one to Alessa, " Here you are, you might need this. Come on, we can play a board game or cards if you like?" he suggested to keep her mind off of the storm

Alessa got up and followed Pound Cake into the kitchen. She was afraid to be left alone. After taking the flashlight, then nodded to him. "O-okay..." she said quietly, "What kind of games do you have?" She hadn't played too many board or card games before, so she was pretty clueless.

Pound Cake went over to his television cabinet and rummaged through the drawers, Most of the games he hadn't played in a very long time, but he was sure he still knew how to play them. " Lets see, I have Monopoly, Checkers and Chess, Scrabble, Uno, dominoes and a pack of regular playing cards" He said, shining his light over them. Pound Cake wasn't sure which ones she might be interested in or would know how to play; he was fairly sure that her mother hadn't played board games or cards with her.

[Boomer]

"I think I've heard of checkers before." she said, waiting for him to finish reading off the list of games. Alessa didn't know how to play, but she would be willing to learn. "It seems easy enough." she mumbled to herself.

" Alright, checkers it is then" Pound Cake said cheerfully. He took the box of checkers and sat the board and pieces up so they could play it on the floor. He also set up his lantern so that it lit up the space between them with a cheerful glow." Checkers is fairly easy to play" He assured her, and began to explain to her how the pieces moved and the rules of the game. " Would you like to play as red or black?"
