Once the had placed their food on the table, the boys each reached for a slice of their pizza, all eager to taste the hot, cheesy triangular pieces. As Carver chomped down on the piece in his hand, his gaze travelled over to Sutton, and he though for a moment about Tino's words about them being good together. His heart ached a little at the memories that tugged at the back of his mind, but he shook them away. It's all in the past, what's done is done. Swallowing his mouthful, Carver cleared his throat. " So, Sutton, how has life been in college? " He spoke up to the blonde, earning him two slightly shocked looks from his friends, obviously caught offguard by his sudden polite approach toward his ex. Beside him, Jeremy sat there with his eyes glued to his friend,
as though locked in a trance, whereas Tino simply looked between the two exes, curious to how Sutton would react to Carver asking such an.. intrusive question, one that could potentially cause some awkwardness.

Sutton Archibald

Sutton waited for her friends to get their slices of pizza before she reached over the table and grabbed one for herself. The blonde flopped the pizza down on the plate that was in front of her, but not before taking a quick bite. She had to admit that the pizza did taste delicious. As the girl enjoyed her food, she heard the familiar voice of her ex. Thinking he was starting up another conversation with Ariel, she didn’t think much about it. That was until she heard him say her name. Sutton’s head immediately popped up and her gaze narrowed in on Carver as he asked her the question. The young girl couldn’t help but have the shock she was feeling be evident by her facial expression. Sutton coughed slightly when the food went down the wrong way, quickly raising her hand to cover her mouth as she swallowed the food and cleared her throat, ”Uhm..” she said. She was speechless for a few moments, really not have been expecting Carter to be the one to ask that question. From everyone else’s reactions, she knew she wasn’t the only one surprised,”I-I mean it’s good, I guess. No real complaints thus far. What about you?” she asked, trying to keep things as casual and not awkward as possible.

Carver nodded stiffly to Sutton's reply. " Likewise, I suppose. " He inwardly cringed at himself for trying to start up conversation, things felt as though they were getting increasingly awkward for him. Taking another huge bite of pizza, he swallowed hard, unsure of what to do. His gaze drifted back to Ariel, who he felt most comfortable with out of the girls. " You ladies have any other plans for the evening? " Tino piped up, taking the spotlight off of the two exes. " We're heading off after this to explore the area, you could come if you like. " Jeremy and Carver's head whipped to look at him, shocked that he would invite the girls along, after all, it was awkward and not the greatest atmosphere at the moment. Sitting up, Jeremy bent to Carver's ear and whispered, " Dude, what is he doing?". Clearing his throat, Carver spoke up again, " Uh, actually Tino, I'm sure the girls wouldn't want to come messing around in the snow. " He made a pointed look, wanted Tino to understand, although he seemed to be avoiding his gaze, smiling at Stella.

"That sounds fun, we'd love to join!" Ariel quickly responded without hesitation. Stella and Sutton both immediately looked over at their friend with very irritated eyes, and then they looked at each other after Ariel just gave them a confused shrug. Sutton gave Stella a look that made her friend interject in the conversation, "Ariel, I'm sure they really don't want a bunch of girls tagging along on their trip," Stella said, turning to face Ariel who was seated beside her. Ariel shook her head, "But they invited us?" Ariel replied. Sutton bit her lower lip, not really having an argument to Ariel's statement. She wanted to speak the truth and correct her friend by saying Tino had only invited them, not all three. It was obvious that Jeremy and Carver were not pleased with the invitation given by their friend, which was why Sutton had been prepared to reject the offer before her friend beat her with a response. After a few seconds of silence, Sutton finally spoke, "Yeah, but remember you wanted to just rest tonight after dinner so you could kick the last of your cold and be ready to ski tomorrow!" she reminded her friend. Sutton knew her friend still was a bit under the weather, and she had mentioned on the way to dinner that she wanted to get some more rest before tomorrow. Sutton felt relieved to have remembered that comment from Ariel, that was till the girl replied, "You're right, but I've rested all day and am ready to do something fun!" Ariel stated, looking at Sutton and then at Stella. Ariel then turned to look over at the guys again, "We're in!" she restated.
