Jared and Tino began to discuss their courses of action once they reached the skiing areas, wanting to work out what they wanted to do ahead of time. Carver lifted his soda up to his mouth to take a swig when something bumped into him, causing the contents of the can to splash over his face. Quickly lifting his sleeve to wipe the sticky liquid from his face, he growled " Hey! What's the he- " But when he opened his eyes and looked down, his words came to a stop before completing the sentence. Before him stood a familiar short blonde, who also seemed to notice him, as she had just spoken his name. Carver's eyes studied her face, taking in the small changes that had come with the final stages of puberty, and slowly drifted down her body, picking up the other details that had changed since he had last seen the person before him. Soon, his mind was in a different place. Memories of the past flickered through his mind, comfort, joy, passion, uncertainty, and hostility, they seemed to punch him in the gut as he remembered the times he had spent with the girl. That is, until they ended what they had had two years ago. Perhaps it was enough time to let go of and appreciate the high school relationship for what it was, yet, deep down, something began to stir within Carver, something he wasn't very sure of.
In the few seconds that he had taken to reminisce, he hadn't noticed that a small smile had been threatening to take place on his lips. However, the painful tugging on his heartstrings allowed him to pay attention, and he turned his smile into a hard line. " Sutton. " He greeted, though it seemed more like curt acknowledgement. Beside him, Tino and Jared had stopped and begun to watch what was unfolding. " Hey Sutton, long time no see. " Jared waved a little, giving her a small smile. Tino also gave a little wave, though he never really knew the girl, having not attended the same high school as Carver. Huffing, Carver rolled back his shoulders so that he stood straight and stiff, not wanting to reveal any emotions to the people around him. " I'm guessing you came here for a vacation too. " Carver commented, watching the other two (?) girls that stood beside her.

Sutton Archibald

The blonde watched carefully as the smile quickly vanished from Carver's face. Seeing how quickly his mood turned cold after he had recognized it was her who had bumped into her, caused a little smile to nudge at the corners of her mouth. She took pleasure in knowing that her standing in front of him annoyed him, and disrupted whatever happy mood he had just been in. Sutton's mind started to run wild as she stood tall in front of Carver, not wanting to appear weak or in distress, even though her heart was beating insanely fast. Carver wasn't even on the list of people she had expected to bump into on this vacation, and it pained her to see his face again. After their high school relationship had come to an end, Sutton made it her mission to avoid Carver and anything that had to do with him. She had quickly gone from loving this boy who was standing in front of her, to hating everything little thing about him.

Sutton's gaze quickly shifted to Jared as she heard his friendly voice say her name. The girl let out a quiet sigh and gave a slight wave to the boy, "Hey Jared!" she replied. She was kind of relieved that Jared had spoken to her, as it made the whole situation a little less tense. She remembered Jared from high school, and he had always been kind to her, even after Carver and herself had ended their relationship. You could say she had been friends with Jared in high school, but that ended quickly after her messy break up with Carver. In all honesty, if it hadn't been for Jared's long time friendship with Carver, she probably would've fought harder to keep him as a friend, than she did to fix her relationship with Carver. As Sutton heard Carver's harsh voice make a comment, she let out a irritated sigh and returned her eyes to look at him. The girl huffed and shook her head gently as she formulated a reply, but before she could get her words out her best friend Stella jumped in, "No Carver, we just flew three hours with our suitcases so we could grab dinner!" she replied sarcastically, "Of course we're here for vacation! What kind of dumb question is that?" she asked. Sutton smirked slightly at her friends sarcastic response, and turned her attention back to Carver, "Hopefully you guys are heading home rather than just arriving, so we can actually enjoy our vacation"she commented. While she mentioned the group as a whole, she was specifically talking about Carver. She was hoping that he was heading home, so that she wouldn't have to chance running into him again.

Turning his hazel gaze to the girl standing beside Sutton, Carver smirked. " 'What kind of dumb question is that?' " Carver mimicked Stella, rolling his eyes. " It wasn't a question, sweetpea, it was a statement. " He leaned forward and tapped her on her nose when he used the pet name, as though he were speaking to a small child. Pulling back, he turned his attention back toward his ex. " Actually, we only just arrived, same as yourselves. You have the fortunate pleasure to see this hot stud, " He waved his hand up and down, referring to himself, then to the others, " and these two buffoons for the next few weeks. " Beside him, Jared scowled at the insult, and Tino simply scoffed.
" Speak for yourself, buffoon, but I am a gorgeous angel. " Tino smiled at the girls, winking at Stella as he 'subtly' began to stretch out his arms, flexing his muscles, though they appeared missing beneath his huge coat. Jared slipped in front of Tino, blocking the view. " I am a handsome devil, thank you very much, Harrison. " He also began to flex, before Tino shoved him, which led to the two starting up an argument on who was the better looking one.
Rubbing his temples with his thumb and index finger, Carver let out an exasperated sigh. Deciding to ignore them, he focused back onto the girls. " Anyway, as I was saying, you'll definitely be seeing us around. We intend to enjoy our time here, and I bet all the other guests here would too, so if you don't mind, try not to go around wrecking people's days. " His lips held a smile, but his voice held a bitter tone. Eyes burning with an unknown blaze, Carver walked away, his strides long and quick, and his friends followed quickly after him, forgetting their bickering for a moment to wave goodbye to the girls before continuing the debate as they trotted down the hall and toward the main entrance.

Sutton Archibald

Sutton's eyes followed Carver's hand as it reached over to tap Stella on the nose. She watched as her friend quickly reached up her hand to smack Carver's away, but was too slow to actually hit his. The blonde quickly returned her focus to the boys as she listened to Carver explain how they would also be here for the next few weeks, "Fantastic!" she said sarcastically, a frown quickly making it's way onto her face. Knowing that Carver would be hanging around the same ski resort as her made her blood boil. Sutton quickly took a deep breath, trying not to gag at the sight of the boys fighting over who was the most attractive. The girl rolled her eyes, and tightened her face slightly when Tino winked at Stella. Her head quickly began to shake in disapproval as she watched the boys make fools out of themselves. Her attention continued to stay focused on the two buffoons until she heard Carter's voice again. She closed her eyes slightly as her head began to turn to face him once more, "I'm sorry Carver, that'd be you who goes around wrecking people's days..." she corrected. A small smile started to pull at the corners of her mouth when she heard Stella giggle at her reply, but she forced it away and continued on with her straight face. As Carver walked away, and the boys quickly followed, the girl stood still and took a deep breath. She then quickly spun around at the sound of a familiar voice, "Who is that?" Ariel asked. Sutton had been so distracted by Carver and his friends, that she had completely forgotten her friend Ariel was standing right behind her. Sutton shook her head and turned her gaze over to Stella, "Carver Harrison," Stella replied, "the idiot who played Sutton," she added. Sutton quickly ran her hand through her hair and let out an irritated sigh as she turned around in the direction she had originally been headed. She quickly gripped onto her suitcase and started to walk to her room, not wanting to continue the conversation about Carver.

As the trio quickly made their way away from the girls, Tino cast a glance behind him, " So I'm guessing that's the infamous Sutton Archibald, eh? " Turning back, he hooked an arm around Carver's shoulder, grinning. " She's a lot hotter than you said she was, I can't believe you let her go. Stooping so low as to dating someone as ugly and idiotic as you are, wow, maybe I'll have a chance. " No sooner did he finish his sentence, Tino howled with pain as Carver smacked him upside the head. Huffing with annoyance, the brunet stormed ahead of his friends, shoving his way out of the main doors and into the cold. Just as the door was closing, he overheard Jared scolding Tino for pushing Carver's buttons so soon after such an interaction. Standing in the snow, he took a deep breath, the freezing air calming him as his heart rate began to slow down it's racing, and his hands relaxed from their tight fists. Closing his eyes, he ran a hand through his hair and sighed raggedly, " Why? Why of all places to see her did it have to be here? " He muttered to himself.
His friends soon appeared beside him, and Tino uttered a small apology, but Carver held no hard feelings, now over his irritated mood. " So, I say we go ahead and head to the ski store and then the lift, I'm sure I can speak for all of us when I say it's time to rip into some snuhhh. " Jared grinned, already trudging down the steps and heading left, where the road lead to a path that veered off and up toward the mountain. " Agreed. In fact, after that unfortunate event, I'd like to hurl myself down the mountain. " Carver joked and followed after him, pausing only to hold his hand out to Tino, who took it with a bat of his eyelashes and an overly high-pitched giggle. Together they began to head down the road, swinging their arms wildly like a couple of kids. Once they reached Jared, he joined hands with Tino as well, which led to the start of a childish argument (in a playful way) between he and Carver, both wanting to be the only one to hold hands, leaving the boy in the middle to be tugged back and forth like a ragdoll. Yelling, shrieks, and hysterical laughter could be heard all around as they made their way toward the mountain.
It took them approximately forty minutes for them to reach the ski store, figure out what they wanted to go down on, and get the right sizes for them. Carver decided on using a snowboard, Tino joined him in the decision as well, leaving Jared, the less balanced - well, more clumsy, not that he liked to admit - of the three, with a small sled. After thanking the store owner, they took the rentals and headed toward the ski lift, which was a two minute walk away from the store.

Sutton Archibald

After a few minutes of walking, the girls finally arrived at their room. The blonde girl breathed a sigh of relief as she pulled the room key out from her pocket, and pressed it against the door. She watched as a small light lit up with a bright green color, and then she gripped the door handle and slowly pushed it open. Sutton leaned against the door, holding it open for her friends as her eyes scanned the room. It was just as nice as the pictures, which brought a sense of joy to Sutton. Once her two friends were inside the room, Sutton reached for her suitcase which was right outside the door, and rolled it inside. The girl gripped the handle of the suitcase and removed herself from leaning against the door, causing it to slowly close behind her. She took a few more steps into the room and stood still in the center as she looked around. There was a nice lounge area in the middle of the room, which she knew would come in handy at multiple points throughout this trip. The girl's eyes then quickly shifted over to the three doors that were wide open, and revealing small previews of the other rooms. Two of the doors showed bits and pieces of the bedrooms, while the third door gave a glimpse of the bathroom. A small smile started to form on the girl's face as she headed in the direction of one of the rooms. The room she first saw had only one bed and a small bathroom connected, but her friend Ariel had already claimed it. With that being said, Sutton took a few steps away from the doorframe of the room, and turned to head towards the next bedroom. This room had two beds inside it and a bigger bathroom connected, and so far only Stella had claimed one of the beds. The girl quickly walked inside the room and placed her things beside the bed, flopping down on it immediately after she was free of all her items, "So what's the plan for today?" the girl asked Stella. Sutton took a deep breath and relaxed her eyes as she waited for a response from her best friend,"The next bus for the ski store leaves in fifteen minutes, so I say we grab our ski clothes and catch that bus!" her friend suggested. The girl nodded in agreement and quickly rolled from off of the bed. She bent down in front of her suitcase and unzipped it, digging through it for her coat, snow pants, and goggles. As she searched for her items, she glanced over at her friend, "Is Ariel coming?"she asked. She watched as her friend shook her head, "Nah, she's using today to try and kick the last of that cold she has,"her friend replied. Sutton nodded and then continued to search for her things.

The ski lift wasn't exactly what Carver saw as an ideal way of getting up the mountain. Preferably, he would have liked to have just used some form or teleportation, flying, or anything else that did not require his own physical effort. Heights weren't something that he liked, more specifically directly vertical ones. Climbing trees, standing by the windows or on the balcony of a tall building, a ski lift; all of them had a one way direction that if he followed, would end up with his on the ground, flattened like a bug on a windshield. So for Carver, the rides up the mountain would be significantly worse than the ones going down.
Jared and Tino held no hesitation and paired up together when they caught the ski lift, leaving Carver to catch a seat on his own,
he wasn't very happy with them for ditching him. Although he was abandoned by his friends, all around him people were bustling about, either attempting to catch a ride like him, or making their way to meet friends at the bottom of the mountain, or other things like that. Children as young as eight began to join in the ski lift, leaving Carver to feel quite pathetic, being upped by a couple of kids. However, he did not move from his place, and looked up the mountain, where his friends would have gotten off on by now. Although the range was high, it had a more subtle drop toward the ground, as needed with using skis, boards, and other forms of transport, so he did not have any fear for falling up there. It just had to be ski lifts that were the only transport to get up the mountain, a way which left him shaking with fear - well, not that badly -. Grunting to himself as he saw yet another child climb aboard the lift, Carver stomped toward the ride, forcing himself to ignore the anxiety in his belly as he practically leaped onto one of the seats, hugging the sidebar for dear life as he peered down and saw the ground rapidly grow further and further away.

Sutton Archibald

After the blonde and her friend were in their ski clothes, they headed out of the room and back towards the hotel lobby. Before actually walking out of the room, they waved bye to their sick friend and then continued to their destination. They had four minutes to get to the bus so that they wouldn't have to walk the forty minute hike to the ski shop. Sutton and Stella both walked as fast as they possibly could towards the entrance of the hotel, but their walk quickly turned into a jog, which quickly turned into a run after they spotted the bus pulling up to the front of the hotel. The girls sprinted as fast as they possibly could through the hotel lobby, dodging incoming guests as they weaseled their ways through. As Sutton reached the doors of the hotel entrance, she extended her arms so that she could push the door open without having to stop. Once the girls were outside, they waved their hands so the bus driver knew to wait for them, and then jogged up the three steps that took them inside the bus. Sutton quickly found two empty seats and fell into one of them, trying to catch her breath as she watched her friend sit next to her. She wasn't much of a runner on a good day, so wearing five pounds of snow clothes did not help the situation. Once the girl caught her breath, she repositioned herself in the seat and looked out of the window, ready to finally hit the slopes.

After the bus dropped the girls off at the ski store, they headed inside to get their rentals. They had reserved their skis online, so all they had to do was show their confirmation number and get handed their skis, instead of wait in the long rental line. The nineteen year old girl grinned as the boy behind the counter handed her the ski gear, and then she stepped back as he handed Stella hers. After they both had everything they needed, they found a bench so that they could slip on their ski boots. After that was done, the two girls quickly stood up and headed out of the doors of the ski store. They were finally ready to head over to the slopes, which Sutton was so excited about. The girl quickly started walking the path that led to the ski slopes, and started up a short conversation with her best friend. The walk to the slopes wasn't long, so when they arrived the girls quickly looked at a map and headed towards the nearest ski lift.

As the lift moved forward, headed toward the top on the mountain's ski-area, Carver hesitantly scooted his butt to the back of the seat, still holding onto the side for dear life. His eyes were scrunched up, closed so that he could not see what was going on around him, too afraid to see the terrifying drop below. It was a few minutes before he could hear his two friends calling his name, forcing him to open his eyes. He was nearing the end of the line, and could see Jeremy and Tino waving to him from the deck that allowed people to get off of their seats. However, he was still in mid-air, and the ground was still so far away. Crying out in fear, he hugged his board and scrunched up his eyes, wishing he had paired up with one of his buddies, feeling scared and rather pathetic, not being able to handle being alone in the terrifying height. The seat soon reached the deck, and Carver was practically frozen with fear, needing his friends to drag him away before the seat took him back to the bottom. After some comforting words and coaxing from Jeremy, and a joke making fun of him from Tino, Carver finally relaxed, hugging the ground and mumbling unintelligible words into the snow.
The boys left the deck in search for one of the ski slopes, chattering about what plans they wanted to sort out for the trip. Although they all had different ideas, they all seemed to agree that they didn't want to just go skiing and be stuck inside all day, but also wanted to explore the forest that surrounded the resort, and perhaps sneak around the more restricted areas. Once they came across a simple downhill slope, they began to prepare themselves, Tino and Carver both getting their feet locked into their skis and board, whilst Jeremy simply placed his sled carefully by the edge and sat down. " Guys, push me! " Jeremy grinned as the two shuffled over to him, crouching down and placing their hands on either side of the sled, " 3, 2, 1.. Go! " Carver yelled as he shoved the sled with all his might, as did his friend, sending Jeremy flying down the hill, his screams of joy filling the air. Tino grabbed his ski poles and pushed off after him, laughing wildly as he went. Left behind once again, Carver shuffled close to the edge, however, he was not afraid this time. Heaving his weight forward, he slid down and then fell into a speedy slide as he followed after his friends, grinning as snow flakes and wind whipped against his face.
It wasn't long before someone fell over. Jeremy's sled suddenly flipped upwards, sending him flying forward into the snow, the sled itself tumbling for a few moments before it came to a stop on it's side. However, Jeremy tumbled further down, until he disappeared into a mound of snow. Carver forced himself to slow down, eventually just falling over so that he stopped just by the sled. Stopping further down, Tino began to poke around the snow mound with one of his poles, in search for their lost friend. It took only a few pokes for Jeremy to appear, his arms and face popping out of the mound, the rest of his body fallen victim to the snow. Hysterical laughter ensued as Jeremy stood up, chunks of snow falling out of the ridges and creases in his clothing, his eyes wild but a huge grin plastered to his face, " Well that was pretty insane. I think I hit a rock or something. "

Sutton Archibald

Once Sutton and Stella were close the the ski lift, they headed over to the line and claimed their spots in it. Sutton hadn't been skiing in forever, so she was extremely excited to be only a few minutes away from skiing down a slope. As the girls stood in line, Sutton turned her head to face Stella, "How are you feeling after seeing Carver?" her friend asked. Sutton shrugged slightly at her friend's comment, not really knowing how to answer, "Frustrated? Angry? Curious?" she said, not really knowing just one word that could describe all of her feelings. The blonde watched as her friend tilted her head slightly, "Curious?" she asked. Sutton shrugged once more, really not sure if she should go into detail about her curiosity with Carver, especially since she knew Stella never cared much for Carver, "I don't know. I guess I'm just curious to know where he's at in life. Is he still in school? How's his family? You know, that kind of stuff," she answered. When the line moved up a little, Sutton and Stella scooted forward a few steps, before they both turned to look at each other again, "Do you miss him?" her friend asked. Sutton immediately began to shake her head, "No! That boy ruined high school graduation for me, missing him would be the last thing I would ever do. I just want to see what he's been up to after the break up. We made a lot of plans for the future while we were dating, but obviously none of them happened. I just want to know if he followed any of his dreams...just without me," she finally admitted.

While Sutton and Carver ended on a really bad note, she doesn't regret dating him. Sutton and Carver dated for a long time, so she slowly fell in love with him. Their breakup at the end of high school broke her heart, and it took her a long time to heal. While they were dating, she and Carver made a lot of future plans together, thinking they would be together forever. They were basically just another average high school couple with high hopes for their relationship. Even though they broke up and were never able to follow through with the plans they made as a couple, she was curious to know if Carver followed through with his individual goals that they had talked about. He set high goals for himself, which Sutton always appreciated. So she hoped he was on the path to accomplishing those goals. In all honesty, Sutton wasn't just curious to find out where Carver was at in life, but she also was curious about how he handled their break up. After their break up Sutton removed herself from all things Carver, so she never really knew how he handled the break up. She's always wanted to know if she was the only one who took it badly, but she had never figured out how to find out. She didn't want to ask his or her own friends, as she wasn't sure if she'd like the answer. Deep down she hoped he was as hurt as her after the break up, but another part of her was pretty sure he had been completely fine after it. Either way, that's been something she's been wanting to find out for awhile, but has never been given the chance.
