James froze from his spot on the floor where he was cleaning up glass as he looked over to the sound of Max's voice and he sighed dumping the glass in his hand into a trash bin and he sighed dusting his suit off and wiping his face as he went and opened the door with a smile making sure to block the direct view to the mirror, "Yes? Do you need help tying your tie? Or something?"He asked a hand running through his curls as he smiled at Max but lie always his eyes betrayed his true emotions. Sadness, anger, tiredness...all things his eyes said as he smiled at Max

Max frowned as James opened the door, finding it odd how the other positioned himself but he didn't say anything about it. "Um.... no. Not right now. I wanted to give this back to you since it seems like you lost it at some point. I didn't read it, I swear...." he said as he reached into his pocket and pulled out the booklet, handing it over to James. He looked up at the other and finally seemed to notice his expression and the emotions in his eyes. "Hey.... what's wrong? Are you alright?"

James arched a brow in suppose when Max produced his diary and he took it carefully and ran a hand over the cover beforehand placing it aside about to shut the door. "Thank you. I had no idea I dropped it." He laughed softly when he asked if he was ok and he sighed nodding with a smile. "Darling I'm fine just tired. Thanks for your concern."He shut the door with a sigh as he sunk against his head in his hands with a soft sigh. He want alright but he'd fake until he made it

Max didn't bother to try and correct the other when he thought he had dropped it. He wasn't going to snitch on Isaabelle and he could always casually warn him to hide it away better in the future. "Alright....." he responded skeptically before the other prince shut the door. He sighed, wanting to go in and check on James properly, but he wasn't going to bother the other if he didn't want to be. He turned and started getting ready for this party.

James sighed as he pushed himself off the floor and walked to his other bathroom mirror and checked his hair with a soft sigh as he wiped his eyes. He fixed up his sut and hair waiting for the time to tick time. All he did was lay on his bed and stare up at the ceiling wondering what he was going to do. He groaned and then heard his clock chime and gen pushed himself off the bed and walked into the hall knocking on Max's door lightly, "Max? Ready to go?"He realized how hoarse his voice sounded and he cleared his throat and repeated himself. "Max? Ready to go? We gotta fake it until we make it." He sighed his hand still against the door as he double checked his tie and suit

Max was double checking that he looked presentable when he heard the knock on the door. He threw one last look in the mirror before going to the door and opening it casually, smiling saintly at the other. ”Hey James. Yeah I’m ready to go. I should need anything extra.....” he mused aloud as he stepped into the hall besides the other prince.

James didn't smile, his pale lips were pressed into a thin line and his normally bright eyes were dull and somehow dark. He sighed and took Max's arm as they started to walk and he didn't speak, his expression set stubbornly. When they reached the ballroom, music, the scent of food, laughter rang out. When the two princes' were introduced the crowd clapped politley before going back to their own conversation. Jamew let go of Max's hand and slipped away for a drink. One, drink away the pain. Two, "drink away the decite. he thought after each drink. By his second he was still against the wall, lips still pressed together thoughtfully as he watched others dance, eat and laugh as if there was nothing wrong with the world. Then his mother stood up and silenced the room before she spoke. "In honor of the marriage. The betrothed will each say a few words. Max care to go first?" James glanced over only briefly before he ordered another drink, ready to face the shame

Max was actually sort of disappointed when James slipped away. Yeah, things weren’t great between them, but at least James was a familiar face among all these strangers. He still smiled politely and weaved amongst the people to make it seem like it didn’t bother him though. When James’s mother dishes everyone and then asked him to do a speech first, his expression was one of a deer-caught-in-the-headlights, but it only lasted a spilt second before he shrugged and nodded. Like he had a choice to accept the offer. He took a few moments to compose his thoughts and to think of his words before he was ready to speak.

"Well..... first off, I'd like to thank Your Majesties for allowing me to be a guest of your home and to see and experience the many things your beautiful country has to offer. I can't wait for the union between your country and my country that this marriage will bring. And secondly..... I'd like to thank Jameson, for many things. The first thing being that your willing to put up with me for the rest of our lives. I don't know many people strong enough to do such a thing, but you certainly are. The second thing I'd like to thank you for is for showing me there's much more to life than I originally thought, and I hope you'll continue showing me just what it's like to really live. I could list many more things I'd like to thank you for, but then we'd be here all night, so I think I'll stick to the important ones for now...." His little mini speech was accompanied with a warm smile and little jokes to make others smile. It was obviously he was pretty personable and seemed not to have a problem with these things. He also purposely littered subtle compliments into the speech for James, because the other truly deserved them. He dipped his head as he finished and hoped he had made a positive impression with his words.

Light applause littered the room and James sighed pushing himself off the wall. After a few drinks the normally sweet prince turned quite cynical. It was evident of his face as he sighed and took his position to speak, "Thank you Max. Those words mean a lot. My turn I suppose, Thank you Mom and Dad for single handily ruining my entire existence. Thank you for keeping secrets, thank you for deciding my fiancé. Max....thank you for being ther and showing me that being a prince is more than a crown and a pretty smile, thank you for giving me the hope of our future together and for that I can say I truly do care and love you. Thanks once again to the world which has so much to offer me! Thanks to the papers that absolutely destroyed any chance I had with Max! Mother...mother mother...Thank you especially for leaving me when I needed you the most, if it wasn't for your cruelty then I wouldn't be me now" Jameson smiled softly at Max before he looked to his mother who was obviously steaming with an unsaid rage. He walked from the ballroom and slammed the doors behind him as Isabelle walked up to Max tugging on his shirt sleeve gently, "Please....talk to him. He'll listen to you Maxi..don't let it end like this."

Back in his own room James felt terrible both mentally and to his stomach, he once again felt the tears and the panicked wheezing

Max bit his lip as he listened to James speak. This was to keep from bursting out smiling in amusement and to keep from groaning in disappointment and worry. He found it amusing how James called out his parents for what they had done since they deserved it, but there was a time and place to stand up to somebody, and now really probably wasn't the best time to do so..... He flinched as the other's words turned harsh and as he saw the queen's expression. He was stunned as James left, slamming the door, and was only jolted out of it as he felt Isabelle tugging on his sleeve and he knelt down to hear her better. "I'll try Isabelle...." he answered the little girl before standing again and making his way through the almost silent crowd. He sighed as he walked through the corridors and it wasn't long before he came to James's room. He hesitated a second before knocking on the other prince's door. "James....? Hey...are you alright?'
