James pushed down the ache in his heart as he held out his hand for a shake and smiled, "I promise there's no strings attached."He told himself that this was the right thing to do, that what he was doing would at least begin to makeup for the secrets he kept from Max. He just hoped the male wouldn't go to the world and talk freely about James' own ailments. Max’s expression softened some as he listened to the other prince speak but he still looked skeptical. He looked down at the other’s outstretched hand and slowly started shaking his head again. ”I-I don’t know James..... I won’t tell anyone about your health issues, ever, but the rest of it all...... Max sighed and nodded his head at the other's request. "Yeah..... yeah, we can do that. Plus.... that'll give me time to think. I know you're not an awful person James and that your parents didn't give you much of a choice, but......this. This could have affected so many more people than just me. I can't just let it go....." he trailed off as he glanced down at his feet. Why did this have to be a thing that had happened? He had been getting along with James just fine and now this wrench had been thrown into their relationship and made a mess of everything.

James sighed soft as he pushed his hair back with a soft sigh, "Thank you. I know this would've put your kingdom in danger and I'm so so sorry. I planned on telling you once we were married and we could've figured it out. Max I don't want to put your kingdom in danger not a chance!"He stated pushing his hair back nervously once more. God his mother had to ruin every good thing about James' life.

Max simply nodded at the other's words. He almost believed them but...... he had to cross examine every word now to see if he really could trust them. "Neither would I James, and..... I'll act like I don't know about this. I doubt your mother would be pleased to hear that I do know about it. If she does find out though, let me know as soon as possible. We'll leave for Casparius immediately if things go south of any reason. I won't leave you to deal with your parents and you'll have protection from anything they might try in Casparius," he offered despite everything that had happeed.

James took Max's hands in his own and squeezed them, "Max I will not let you pull me out of Lynn own dug out pit. If my mother finds out, so be it. They won't do their worst. At least not yet."He sighed before beginning to speak again still holding Max's hands, "Besides after what I've done I expect no extra favors besides your attendance at tonight's party. If you want to leave tomorrow I can arrange it. If you want to want remain here for the week I can and will leave you to your own devices. You wouldn't be obligated to spend any more time with myself or my family."He smiled, albeit sadly and pain was masked behind his light eyes as he dropped Max's hands, "I'm going to head inside..I'll...Ill talk to you later."With that he turned and walked from the entrance of the maze back towards the castle.

From somewhere lord knows where Isabelle popped up next to Max and took his hand in her own looking at the much taller male, "You know. No matter what, he'll always care about you. Even if you leave."She laughed softly, "I read his diary. Don't tell him. He cares and according to the book.." She removed a small leather book, "Of which I have here...he planned on changing the contract no matter what. Feel free to read through it. He won't miss it."She handed the diary to Max and walked back into the garden with a hum

Max frowned just slightly at the others words but didn't try to stop him as he said he was headed for the castle. "Alright, I'll talk to you later...." was all he said before watching the other walk off and remaining where he was standing. He blinked when little Isabelle showed up suddenlt, but otherwise he didn't look all that startled. He let her take his hand and listened carefully to what she had to say and as she walked off he was smiling softly as he shook his head lightly. That little girl was certainly simething, though he didn't think it was a bad thing.

Once Isabelle disappeared, Max looked down at the book. James's diary according to the other's sister. He was so tempted to look through it, to see if what the two of them had said about changing the deal really was true and to see what else James might have had to say about Max or Casparius, and he stood there for a while just staring at the book. But eventually he sighed and shook his head. He couldn't look through James's private thoughts. He wouldn't. He slipped it into his pocket for now though, planning on returning it to James when he went inside. In the meantime, he remained out in the garden until the last possible minute when he had to go in and get dressed for the party or he would be late.

James stood in his room fonshinng the last button on his shirt and getting ready to tie his tie as he sighed softly and looked at himself turning sideways, was it really that obvious that gen had a feminine figure? Even when e was younger people would whisper about the prince who could've passed for a princess. It was the only thing in his life that James felt self conscious about. It was one of his few insecurities. Now as he leaned on his vanity and looked in the mirror he felt tears welling up in his eyes and he did his best to hold them back but they followed over his cheeks and in his anger more at himself he flung a nearby book at the mirror shattering it with a loud crash. He sunk to the floor head cradled in his hands. God he had to get a grip! These outbursts of anger and sadness wojld only lead to worsened conditions on his part

It was minutes after all this happened when Max made his way up the steps into his room and then went over to the door that connected the his and James's rooms, knocking on it and shuffling lightly as he wanted a minute to see if the other would open the door. "James....?" he called out quietly, completely unaware of what was happening in the other room as he stood there.
