James smiled and laughed softly as he kept his hand with Max's lacing their fingers together, "You do scream darling and it's adorable. And there you go . Who's to say we can't control our lives?"He laughed softly using his free hand to push back his curls once again with a soft smile, "Can I kiss you again?"

A pouting expression crossed Max's face as James insisted that he screamed, though he expression softened into a smile as the other prince pointed out that they could do what they liked with their lives. James did have a point and Max was starting to think he should listen to it a little better. His whole expression shifted and lit up just a bit as James asked if they could kiss again and he nodded once before beginning to lean in towards the other prince.

Jameson smiled and leaned forward kissing the other male his eyes shutting, it was loving and gentle. That's how he liked to be. He moved so he could properly hold Max, surrounded by roses and butterflies and a picnic on the grass, James felt as if they were just normal, no armies, no parents, no weddings or negotiations. It was just him and Max together and nothing would break them apart. James finally pulled away his face bright red, "Well that was..."He was bright red as e let out a soft chuckle

Max's eyes shut just as their lips met and it was just..... he didn't have words to describe it. The kiss was just so amazing, but so soft and sweet at the same time. As James shifted, Max cupped the other prince's cheek gently, and he might have made fun of the moment for being so cliché if it wasn't for the fact that he was enjoying this so much. When they pulled apart and Max saw the other prince's expression and heard his words, he tilted his head back a little laughing freely at how red he was and how James was at a loss for words. He looked back at his fiancé though and smiled as he nodded in agreement. "Yeah... it was," he said with a smile and a teasing tone.

James smiled leaning into Max's hand with a small smile, he really didn't want this moment to end. It was them frozen in time, god James wished it would be that way forever. Then a shrill and angry voice broke through James' thoughts and it was none other than his mother, "Jameson Amelia Sinclair!! You'd better get your butt out here or so help me god I will find you and drag it out!" She yelled her voice carrying over the courtyard. James sighed and rubbed his temples, "If you ever tell anyone my middle name, I will kill you. Married or not." He hissed givimg Max another quick kiss, "Coming mother!" He made a motion attempting to tell Max to take a more roundabout way from the maze so he wouldn't concour the wrath of his mother

Max jumped at the sudden shrill voice, and he honestly didn't register what James's mother was yelling until the other pointed it out. He nodded his head at James warning, but it honestly hadn't crossed his mind to ever say anything about it to anyone. He was still startled and he couldn't really appriciate the kiss, which he was kind of disappointed about. He frowned, understanding the other's hand motion, but shaking his head hard. He wasn't leavinf James to deal with his mother on his own.

James let out an audible sigh at Max's refusal as he made his way out of the bush where his mother stood her foot tapping angrily on the ground her arms folded, "Whatbin heavens name were you thinking?!!! Running off into the garden like a child! You dounderstand we're throwing a party tonight for you and your little fiancée. God his family had better be glad we need you married or we would've never agreed to this terrible deal, besides as you already know once we get the marriage secured at the very first battle in which our troops are needed you will withhold l! Don't you remember darling?"Her voice was silly sweet as she spoke and James kept a hand back to make sure Max didn't come into view, his mother grasped his chin firmly and smiled, "Just remember this. Don't let your fiancé catch any wind of our plan or you'll be ku! We'll have ou married off with nothing to sacrifice on our side,"James felt his heart hit his stomach, Max was probably going to have more than a few words since he knew that James had known this all along. James' mother kissed his cheek and walked away humming and James quickly turned to Max ready to start a sentence when he caught sight of the other prince's face

When James came back, Max didn't look mad. Shocked, betrayed, and maybe a little heartbroken, but certainly not mad. That would come later. He certainly hadn't been expecting to overhear this when he had remained hidden and it was clear the words had metaphorically knocked him off his feet. "You weren't......the deal wasn't........ you KNEW?!" he exclaimed after several long moments, unable to string his whirling thoughts together into a single sentence. He backed up a step or two, the hurt obvious in his voice and expression. "How could you?! We weren't trying to ask you to fight wars for us. We just needed protection. Our goods have been getting stolen or destroyed more and more over the past year or two, and we just needed help protecting our people and our profits. And to think...... we were actually going to share it all with your country....... for absolutely no price it seems....."

James felt his face heat up in shame as he looked at Max, when the other prince spoke James shook his head, "Max..Please I promise this is nothing what it sounds like." He pleaded as he stepped forward and watched the other step back he felt hot tears pricking in his eyes, "Max that's why I said what I said on the picnic, At first, yes I didn't want to help you because were being forced to marry but then after spending time with you Max I want to help Caspairus. I want to help you! Please believe me Max." The prince wiped off his cheeks he hadn't even realized he'd been crying up until that point. He knew the other prince was shocked and hurt and was most likely not to believe him but as more tears welled in his eyes a small part of him hoped Max would.

As the other tried saying the situation wasn't as it sounded, Max stood there shaking his head. It sounded an awful lot like the royal family wanted to get the wealth and profits of Casparius without sacrificing anything themselves. Something made him stop and listen to the other prince, but even after seeing how upset James was, a wall of skepticism had formed around Max and he wasn't sure if he could trust the other. "Just......why?! Why would you not tell me right off the bat? Why would you let me believe this deal was actually going to work when my country needs it so bad, and I'd do anything for them.....?I was giving up the freedom to choose who I wanted to marry and it might have been for absoutely nothing......"
