Bucky contemplated her for a moment, looking her up and down while considering his response. he could lie, not say anything, or tell the truth. he decided the truth was the best way to go. "I don't know," he told her, watching her quietly before adding, "maybe I'm just lonely, or maybe I've gone mad. I really don't know anymore."

zelda almost wanted to laugh at his comment about him going mad, instead, the corners of her mouth barely twitched into a smile before going back down to her frow. "why let me out of the cellar at all?" her voice was raspy from lack of use for actual conversation. she kept her body posture closed.

Bucky thought about that for a moment as well, then shrugged, "I dunno," he told her, "the lonely thing, I guess." he watched her quietly, looking her over

zelda nodded and didn't say anything else. she pulled the sleeves of her hoodie down over her hands, even though the main part of the enormous house was warm the cellar itself was almost as cold as the outside blizzard.

after another stretch of silence, Bucky asked, "what's your name?" because he was tired of referring to her as 'the woman' in his brain. he did have a lot of other questions; he wanted to know what year it was, and who had won the war, and if anyone knew if Steve was okay, though he assumed she was probably not the right person to ask about that.

zelda looked up at him kind of surprised that he asked her name. her defensive pose loosened up as she spoke. "oh um, my name is zelda." she's never been too fond of that name seeing as she didn't care much for the legend of zelda franchise but her father loved the name when she was born so she never really wanted to change it. She got a better look at the man and thought that there was something very familiar about him.

having 'died' long before the first Zelda game came out, Bucky made no connection and just assumed it was a unique name. "do you know what year it is?" he asked her after filing through all the questions in his head. there were lots, but certain ones, like the year, were probably more important than others

zelda gave him a look of confusion before speaking "it's twenty eighteen." she didn't know what to think of his question.
she found it rather odd that he didn't know the year but she just thought that the guy never left the house.

Bucky sighed a bit and scratched the back of it neck, trying very hard to figure out how long he'd been locked there, more importantly how old he was. which apparently, if his math was right, meant he was over 100 years old. and that was a bit ridiculous. he couldn't figure out exactly how many years he had been trapped in the mansion, math had never really been his strong suit.

zelda took a deep breath, she had so many thoughts and questions racing through her head, so she decided to go with the safest question that she could think of, "what is your name?" she asked the same question he had asked her. she played with the split ends at the bottom of her hair, not meeting bucky's eyes with hers.
