➳ Naomi Johnson

Naomi swiftly made it back to her apartment in no time. She emptied her bag of things and threw it all on her bed. She had work in less than a half an hour, and there was no time to sort through all of the treasures or fix her costume. She was still bleeding from the thorns that had dug into her legs and the artifact that had scratched her. She didn't have time to fix it though. She pulled on her black pants and a white button up. After that, she quickly got her tie on (it was green to match the logo) and tied her hair into a ponytail. She was ready to get to work. There were many famous coffee places around the big city, but Naomi worked in a small Starbucks a few blocks from her house. She grabbed her white hat with the Starbucks logo on it, which was not a part of the uniform, and threaded her ponytail through it. She felt ready to go, and though she looked somewhat stupid, it was what she enjoyed wearing. It made her feel really business-like. Her paid internship was at a fashion magazine, but sadly, she would not be starting until next week, so she had managed to keep her part-time job at Starbucks. She needed all the extra money she could get, and those artifacts would at least help pay off rent for her apartment that month, plus some would go to charity.

She rushed out of her apartment once more with the thought of getting to work on her mind. She knew it wasn't far from where the bank was, and the less she had to deal with the better. She hoped that no attention would be drawn to her. Her pink and blonde hair was a dead give away for her villain persona, but she had a way of making the pink more noticeable when she was in costume over when she was just Naomi. She had some pink hair dye that could wash out pretty easily, plus her powers made it easy to bend atoms and stuff. It was a work in progress, but when she was out of costume, her hair only had a few pink streaks in it, and she managed to cover most of it with her blonde hair. Luckily, she made it to work on time with a few seconds to spare and began getting to work. She felt ridiculous, but it was better to look foolish then to get caught as a supervillain.

Christopher looked at the girl and he couldn't help but smile. She was even more beautiful up close. He watched her wave back and show off her sketch. He instantly recognized the scene as the coffee shop. He examined it with bright eyes because he was a big appreciator of the arts. He loved taking photos, editing photos, and writing. He was no good when it came to drawing or painting, but he greatly admired anyone who had the skill. He scanned each of the different people in the little shop in her sketch and noticed the most detail was put into him so far. He wondered if he should point it out or if she would become embarrassed. He didn't want to freak her out or anything, but he thought he could maybe segway it into a date or something. She obviously seemed to have somewhat of a peaked interest in him, and he was very interested in her as well. He decided not to bring it up though to avoid any awkwardness. He noticed that she had been pretty mute with her introduction, and he wondered if he could get some words out of the beautiful stranger.

He cleared his throat and decided to compliment her art first. "This is amazing," he exclaimed with a grin. "Honestly, I wish I had your talents. It is absolutely amazing," he told her with a smile. "I wish I could do amazing artwork like this, but because I can't, I usually get into the photography and just take photos of beautiful things," he told her with a small smile. He had thought of mentioning "like you," but he didn't want to seem too forward. The girl seemed shy, and he didn't want to push anything on her. "So, if you don't mind me asking. What is the amazing artist's name that created such an exquisite piece?" he asked her with a playful smile. He knew he could be quite the flirt, and he was trying to play it down, but sometimes he just could not help himself. She was really pretty and shy, and he hoped that he could at least make her day. He just hoped she didn't have a boyfriend or girlfriend sitting around the corner waiting to smack him.

Peter's Point of View

After failing to stop her from stealing any of the gold, I stayed in costume for a while, just making sure everyone was safe. I helped stop a few other robbers from getting away, but I could tell it was their first time trying to steal something, since they weren't very good at hiding it. They also didn't have powers, so it made it easy to stop them. Once I decided that there was no crime going on, I went back to my apartment to change. I knew that I'd need to get some kind of job soon, even if it wasn't one I wanted. I needed money, and being a superhero didn't pay much... or at all. Even if someone tried to offer me money, I wouldn't take it, because I felt like it was my responsibility to do this. I wasn't doing this to get paid. I may not have a real job, but I did have one way of making money by doing something I loved: playing music. Most of the time, I just grabbed a chair and my guitar, and played for people that were just walking by. Sometimes, if I was lucky, I was asked to play some music at places like restaurants, but it was usually just for one or two nights.

I was now wearing a grey t-shirt and blue jeans, treble clef tattoo clearly shown on my wrist. I carried a chair in one hand, my guitar in the other as I walked down the street. Finally finding a place on the sidewalk to set up everything, I sat down in my chair, taking my guitar out of the guitar case. I tuned the guitar for a moment, before starting to play something. It wasn't anything fancy, it wasn't even a song. I was just playing anything that came to mind, seeing what sounded good together.

Kaytlyn's Point of View

Please don't notice yourself in the drawing, please don't say anything about yourself in the drawing, please... I waited for him to speak again, not knowing what he was going to say. I had first thought he was a popular guy, but now I wasn't quite sure. Most of the popular guys at school acted like arrogant idiots. Popular girls acted like that too. They always thought they were so much better than everyone else, and that they had the right to say hurtful things to other people. This guy though... he was actually being very nice... unless it was just an act. As I hear him compliment my art, I wasn't surprised. I was confident in my artistic abilities, as well as my writing abilities. I knew I was a lot better than most, I just didn't brag about it like some people would. Right now, it was just done in pencil, but I'd add some color to it eventually... just not that much. I liked to find the balance between black and white drawings and colored drawings. I would go over my drawings with a black ink pen, but color in certain areas to emphasize them. Sometimes I would color in something random, leaving the rest of the drawing in black and white, just to see what people thought of it. That's what I liked about art. Everyone could be looking at the same picture, but think it meant something completely different than what the person standing next to them thought.

When he mentioned his photography, I knew that must have been what he was doing on his computer. I wanted to ask him if I could see some of the pictures he had taken, but I decided against it. I hadn't even said one word to him, how was I going to say enough words to ask him a question? As he asked me for my name, I knew I couldn't avoid that question. I took the sketchbook, holding it out in front of me a bit, high enough to hide my mouth. I looked between the drawing and him, as if trying to compare him to my drawing as I said, "Kaytlyn." I put the drawing back down on the table, knowing he was probably going to ask why I had just done that, but I wouldn't answer. For the most part, I liked how I looked. Of course, everyone had something about themselves they wished they could change. For me, it was my teeth. Or really, just the one tooth. Even if I wasn't afraid of him seeing it, I don't think I'd be saying much more than I was now, because I was shy around people I was meeting for the first time. Once I got to know someone though... good luck trying to get me to stop talking.
