She yawned a bit. "I am going to try to sleep but I want a bedtime story." she said with a slight grin as she looked at him, giving him a clue that she wanted a story from him.
It's a fixer-upper of a planet but we could make it work.

He stopped the story once she was asleep and lay her down so she could sleep well.
