"I believe you, I believe you. So what do you do now?" Check asked, retracting his arm shyly.

"Oh, I'm just a receptionist," he replied, watching as Check retracted his arm. He wanted to tell him it wasn't necessary but they were walking and that might have been a slight issue. Still, he craved even the slightest bit of affection, he hadn't been touched in what felt like ages.

"Cute!" Check blurted out before he could stop himself, biting his lip as inadvertent punishment for the comment. "I mean, like, receptionists are like... they only hire pretty people for those jobs, I heard that somewhere, uh. Yeah." He stammered, mentally scolding himself. What just happened?

A flush of embarrassment rose to Ruby's cheeks at such a response. Instead of getting upset, however, he merely smiled up at Check "Well thank you, I haven't heard that for a while and It sounds so nice coming from you" he admitted without fear.

Check blushed, raising his shoulders and hiding his face in the popped collar of his jacket. "You're welcome," he replied, looking down at the sidewalk as they moved. He glanced around, noting that they were getting closer to Ruby's apartment. "I hope you stay around," he said. "I'd like to have someone to talk to."

"I will, I'd love to catch up," he said, a warm smile gracing his lips as he stared at Check for a few seconds with a loving gaze. He then broke his gaze and looked at his feet. "I really missed you."

Check realized he was holding his breath, and he felt his stomach flip. Silly, don't be silly, don't embarrass yourself. He held his breath when nervous and he new this. Why be nervous in front of Ruby? He was like, the best. "I've missed you too." He said quietly, still hiding in his collar a bit.

Ruby chuckled, looking up when they reached the building. "Thanks for walking me home. Did you want to stay for a little bit or do you have somewhere to be?" he asked gently. Ruby still felt stupid, this felt too romantic and- well.. things like that never work out for him. It didn't with Check before, why would it work now?

"I don't have anywhere to be, my life is kinda boring these days," Check admitted. "So if you're really okay with it, I'd like to stay for, like, a little bit? I dunno. I wanna see what your place is like too." He stuck his tongue out slightly, running his hand through his hair nervously.

Ruby smiled "That sounds good," he pulled out his keys then lead Check to his one bedroom apartment. Once it was unlocked he stepped in and allowed Check in a moment later. It was small, as expected, and well kept. There was no sign of clutter or mess of any sort but he also didn't own that much to even contribute to a messy looking apartment. The most notable things were the orange pill bottles sitting on the kitchen counter and a small broken picture frame laying on the round kitchen table.
