    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ saga ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
age four years rank healer location forest tagged asmodeus

As the two wolves walked along, Saga silently noted how quiet and stoic Asmodeus was. That was her observation. If she were to make assumptions on him, she could only guess that he was a true warrior. A fighter trained to perfection, trained to focus on his role and his duty to the pack and no more. Though, who was she to judge? At least these thoughts stay within my head unlike the other wolves who let them slip out without thinking twice.. she thought, shaking her head slightly at her own thoughts, It seems as if they lack all compassion. Then, the white wolf pushed away those thoughts, she had a task and she had to focus, that was all that mattered - perhaps she and the male following behind her weren’t so different after all.

Saga continued on her merry way, as time went on she became more sure-footed and didn’t stumble, she blamed her previous slip-ups on the looming presence behind her. She wasn’t used to having someone accompany her on her travels around the territory so, she did admit - to herself, that is - that she was a little anxious about it. Maybe a part of her even wanted to prove herself, prove that she was capable of so much more than what some thought. Maybe even prove that, for future reference, she didn’t need an escort to go out collecting herbs. She wondered subconsciously if that was the real reason why Asmodeus was with her, if it was his job to assess her on how well she did. The thought alone made her so much more aware of the heavy footfalls behind her and the steady breathing and, suddenly - for no reason at all - she felt a little panicked. But, before anything could get out of control and make her stumble again, Saga pushed those foolish thoughts aside. Whatever reason there was for Asmodeus’ prescence, it definitely wasn’t to spy on her. That she was sure of.

Even as hard as she tried, the healer couldn’t push the male from her mind. Though, the next wave of thoughts came in a different form. This one wasn’t just thoughts and assumptions or scatter-brained conspiracies, this was purely feelings and emotions. Saga had been living with blindness her entire life, though, that had no say in how hard or easy is was. Being blind was her reality, but no day was a walk in the park. She had ups and downs and, usually, the downs came out of nowhere without any warning. This time, the down was as sudden as rain. Not the sprinkling rain that patterned beautifully on the leaves overhead, but the rain that came after, when the air felt heavy and she could almost feel the weight of the clouds on her shoulders. How it could suddenly go from sprinkling, blissful rain to a torrential downpour of sleet within moments. This down was a torrential downpour. Her spiraling thoughts originated from a simple question. She had been padding along and just for a split second wondered what Asmodeus looked like. Then, she wondered what it was like to see that peaceful sprinkling rain and the sun shining through the clouds, the dappled pattern of orange sunlight that fell onto the forest floor in the evening. Then, she wondered what she looked like. Khonsu had said that she had a white pelt and light blue eyes before, but the painful fact was that she had never seen it. Her friend was the only one who she was close enough to to actually ask about that. When she was with Runi, her early mentor, she had asked, but the old wolf refused to tell her such things. She would always say that it was a waste of time and energy to sit in a pool of self-pity and, even if her intentions weren’t to do that, it would always end up that way. She’d begin to long heavily for sight even more and soon, it would turn into an untreatable sickness. Even though Saga had always disliked when Runi had said this, she used that advice now and shut off that part of her brain, deciding that there would be no wallowing today.

Saga felt the ground beneath her paws change from grass to spongy moss and she slowed to a stop. This small clearing was odd, the ground was nearly all moss and the only grass was random patches of sweet grass popping up randomly. As she thought of the long grass she decided to pick up some of that too. It was a secret she had picked up on her own after finding this clearing, the grass helped with stomach aches, especially for pups. They would never complain about chewing on some of the sweet-tasting grass and it was very easy to find. She padded over to a clump of grass and then swiveled her ears towards Asmodeus, which were quickly followed by her muzzle swinging towards him, “You can collect some moss, just gently pull on it and make sure you don’t pull it up from the roots, then you’ll get a bunch of dirt mixed in with it,” she instructed before she turned back to the tall grasses. She leaned her head down and bit off a mouth full of the long grass blades and made a small pile by her paw and continued on, hoping that the fighter was following her introductions correctly.

age six and a half years rank hunter location forest tagged reverie

Despite the fact that Reverie truly wasn’t his superior - seeing as they shared the same rank - Khonsu still felt pride burst from his chest at her compliment. It was just a little indication that he was doing good. Some may call it insecurity, but the hunter just wanted to make sure he was doing his job properly so that he could help his pack in the best way possible. When he was younger it was worse. He had acted like all his happiness relied on how well he did at an instructed task and what kind of praise he got in return. He walked around with his ears folded back against his skull and his tail between his legs if no praise was given to him. With a small pang that wilted the flowers blooming in his chest, Khonsu remembered how that all added on to his falling out with Reverie. But, before the sadness could kill those flowers, he swallowed past the lump in his throat and simply focused on the present. He wasn’t that way anymore, that’s all that mattered. A part of him wanted to thank Saga for that. She was his greatest inspiration, even when she was at her weakest points she still rose up from them. By spending time with her, the male had begun to take some of the strength and he quite enjoyed it.

Now, the two wolves padded through the forest, paws gliding across the forest floor silently. Khonsu heard Reverie slowly diverge away from him and he quickly turned his attention to the scents around him. Nothing was really standing out, it was all the same. Leaf mulch, soil, the rotting bark of a skinny, old tree to his right and the smell of fresh grass beneath his paws. As he walked along he truly began to realize how much prey had seemingly just disappeared. No wonder the pack was always hungry. He frowned, but continued on, now with a restored look of determination in his eyes. He was set on returning to camp with prey for the pack to eat. To help them get strong again. To his surprise - and utter delight - as soon as the vow was said in his mind, he caught the slightest hint of rabbit. He slowed down and stalked forwards, keeping low to the ground and hiding in the shadows cast by ferns and other plants around him. Soon enough the scent became stronger and - There! A small creek wound through the forest and twisted through the trees and he had just reached it. And so had a large rabbit. It’s little whiskers twitched as it sat by the creek, taking a drink of water and swiftly pausing to sit up and reach onto it’s hind legs to scent the air before leaning back down to drink again. All of his instincts told him to rush forwards and get it, but this was the only prey he had found yet and he didn’t want to mess it up and loose it by being cocky. So, he looked around and caught a glimpse of Reverie’s light pelt through the undergrowth. The male waved his tail slightly, hoping she’d see and understand that he wanted her to go around to the other side of the small creature. In the meantime, he turned back to the rabbit and watched it, tensing his muscles to spring forward in case it decided to run off. But, it seemed pretty comfortable now. The brown-furred creature was sitting by the stream and rooting for clovers in the grass.

    › ❛ 𒆖. ASMODEUS ❜ ── ─
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
' AGE. four ½ years. xx ' RANK. fighter. xx ' TAGGED. saga.

indentation The silence was painful almost, though it wasn't as bad as he initially anticipated. There was an air of formality wedged between them as if they both were daring each other to make some sort of conversation that didn't have to do with the work they were doing. Neither of them seemed to have the will to make any advances, and despite the curiosities nagging Asmodeus' mind, he didn't have the courage to voice them. Saga wasn't intimidating. His alpha was intimidating - with anyone else, he would've snapped 'no way' at his assigned orders - he was a warrior, not a medic. And yet he seemed to be strangely nerved by her presence. His paws dragged against the ground as the minutes ticked by, almost uncertain to be walking this far into the forest. He hadn't been near this specific clearing per say; he had no reason to. The clearing brought back fond memories, a sense of nostalgia sweeping his mind. With it, his chest filled with warmth, the ghost of a smile flickering across his face and brightening his features.

indentation He remembered training as a pup very clearly, despite hating every second of it. He was taught to channel his frustrations into bloodlust, the desire to kill. He was trained like any other pup his age; to fight and protect. He remembers vividly sneaking off into the forest out of bitterness, anger, and contempt one day to avoid training. A hot summer day like no other, dapples of sunlight flickering across the ground. The male was never a rebellious being, despite being a tad bit defiant - he couldn't quite place what emotion overcame him at the moment, but he knew there was no way in hell he was going back so soon. His mentor would be mad. And so, he wandered until his dark pelt blazed with summer heat, causing his paw-pads to prick uncomfortably and marrow to stir with comfort. He was about to turn back when the soft voice of a female startled him. Reverie. He had snapped back defensively at her curious quips until something in him broke. Like water rushing out of a dam, he felt his vision blur and whatever emotion had been plaguing him spilt out in the form of tears, everything unravelling before her eyes. He remembers Reverie being unfazed by his emotional outburst - or maybe she didn't know what to do at first. She had pressed herself close to him, whispering whatever words of comfort she could as if that could shield him from whatever had been plaguing him. The weight of the world was too heavy to carry alone. He remembers pale blue meeting hazel, angrily questioning why she was even out here after blinking back tears in attempts to calm himself down. Reverie had simply replied with: "The sun shines brighter here." He didn't quite know what those words meant, but he can still feel the sense of calm that had rushed over him at her statement, the two of them staring down at the field of flowers blooming before his eyes. At this moment, there is a happy ending.

indentation Ever since then, they were inseparable. He was glad to have a friend to confide in, and despite the female's cheery demeanour, she seemed lonely, a deep sadness glimmering in her eyes when she thought no one was looking. He remembers watching her get together with Khonsu, though he didn't quite understand what that meant being younger than her. Sometimes he wonders if she even knew what 'being together with Khonsu' meant. He remembers becoming a fighter as planned, pushing aside his rancour to train hard for the sake of his new-found friend. He remembers gaining his rank with a strong sense of pride, though the dark-furred male would always remember what Reverie had mentioned to him after congratulating his success. She had lightly commented how he seemed to be apathetic and stoic as of recently. He remembers shrugging off her words dismissively, confused as to what she meant by that. Sometimes he wonders if she misses the young, naive pup she had first met that day by the meadow clearing. Sometimes he wonders if Khonsu was ever really the solution to the melancholy, distant look in her eyes. He doesn't quite remember the rest too well; all of it is blurred in his mind, thoughts struggling to fragment themselves into constellations. He remembers Khonsu and Saga becoming close, Reverie growing closer to Asmodeus himself once again, as if in attempts to shield the gap from where she lost a friend and a lover. Maybe he exchanged words with the blind medic once or twice, but he never really remembered or seemed to take note of it.

indentation The memory dissipated as quickly as it came, leaving a bittersweet taste in his mouth. The medic seemed to be preoccupied in her own thoughts, not seeming to care he grew weirdly silent. Blinking to clear his head, his paws lightly brushed against the soft moss, halting in his tracks somewhat awkwardly. His eyes met hers. He held her gaze with ease this time, listening to her words carefully. "Alright," he murmured in affirmation, turning to mimic her actions. His jaws gingerly closed the blades of grass, tugging gently.

    › ❛ ☼. REVERIE ❜ ── ─
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
' AGE. six years. xx ' RANK. huntress. xx ' TAGGED. khonsu.

indentation Reverie felt a strange sense of joy at way Khonsu spoke to her, feeling much more lighthearted than she initially felt. She remembered first meeting him; the female couldn't remember how or when, or the nitty gritty details of the ordeal. She simply remembered feeling a strong tug at the connection that seemed to form instantly between them, causing her to gravitate towards him like the planets orbiting around the sun. She remembers his kind eyes that made her feel grounded and safe around him, something special shared between them that Asmodeus couldn't quite ever replicate. Since then, they had grew close, closer than she could've ever imagined or hoped for. It was strange, and she wasn't quite sure how to feel about it; the only thing she was certain about was who her heart beated for, and the strange flutter in her chest at his warm words. The time shared between them was blissful.

indentation Time eventually flew out of her hands, and things got worse. Their relationship - whatever it was - faced challenges. There was a point where they both ended up cutting things off; though from what she recalled, there were no sad goodbyes. It just seemed to happen naturally, and they both never seemed to think about speaking or reconciling again. They acknowledged each other from time to time of course - politely and somewhat strained. It was then where Reverie came to the conclusion that it wouldn't work out and she should let go of any hopes she was previously holding. Good things always come to an end. It was a mantra that repeated in her head every time the thought of her and Khonsu came into mind, one that was able to shove away the bittersweet memories easily. As she grew older and watched everyone change around her like the seasons, it seemed as if she was watching everyone pass by her, unable to reach out to them. It was strange, watching everyone evolve before her very eyes. She wasn't sure if she really knew anyone anymore, with the way her pack had turned on each other in the blink of an eye. Even Asmodeus had put up walls over time that she couldn't quite reach over anymore despite her best efforts. Coming to a conclusion, she was certain that power and authority didn't matter anymore, but rather who her heart beated for. Those she loved. Those she cared about. The regret for not reaching out to Khonsu at all ate her alive sometimes, though eventually, she learned to ignore it. She focused on what she had.

indentation Lost in her daydream, the crunch of a twig snapped beneath the female's paws, resonating clearly in the silent air. Immediately, she muttered a long string of expletives under her breath, cursing her own absentmindedness. Wincing inwardly, Reverie took the moment to breathe in the fresh forest air, surprised at the lack of scent trails or prey in the air. There seemed to be no other sound following her slip up apart from the rustling grass from the gentle breeze, so at least she hadn't scared away any potential prey near her. Not that she was being subtle anyways. Picking up her pace, her paws nimbly weaved their way around the forest, even more determined to focus after her ordeal. At least Khonsu hadn't been around to witness it, feeling a small flash of embarrassment and shame at the thought. Shaking her head, she silently chanted to herself "Now's not the time to be scatterbrained. Focus." Stride slowing to carefully analyse her surroundings once more, Reverie had noticed she strayed closer to the direction Khonsu had taken, sharp eyes easily picking out his pelt from his surroundings. Subtly dipping her head in acknowledgement, she felt another rush of excitement at the sight of prey, nestled innocently by the creek. Granted, it wasn't her catch per say, but she was eager to help in any way she could. Careful to make her way closer to the rabbit, the female slowed to a halt once she was a few strides away. Her muscles tensed in anticipation, eyes locking with his to signal he could make a move. Adrenaline flooded her senses.
