( no, not really.. maybe there’s some sort of problem facing the pack? maybe a shortage of prey? perhaps we could have khonsu and reverie go out on a hunt to stick them together? but, I don’t know how to stick saga and asmodeus together.. )

// maybe some sort of personal threat to the pack, in which since asmodeus is some sort of fighter/warrior
maybe he's ordered to go out with her while saga does her duties to protect her, especially because of her
disabilities? did that make sense lmao? :') //

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ saga ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
age four years rank healer location healer’s den tagged khonsu, none

The morning was filled with a heavy sense of dread, it hung over the camp - over the wolves’ heads - like a dark, rain filled cloud ready to burst with booming electricity and pouring rain. Recently, life in the pack had been bleak. Saga could feel that the wolves were growing tense as more and more problems arose. All of the problems had a single source and the healer knew it, it all lead back to secrecy. The higher ranks in the pack were keeping secrets regarding the problems that the pack was facing on a daily: a prey shortage, more strict rules, cautious patrols, guards at the entrance to camp and now an escort.. for her. Suddenly no one could leave camp alone and questions were beginning to rise. Of course, the high ranks - and the select few who were trustworthy enough to get in on the secrets - did not help when they refused to answer questions and then hid away in a den and whispered secrets while they sent out secret patrols in the dead of night. Saga was not let in on the secrets even though she was a high rank, she didn’t know why. Perhaps it was because they didn’t trust her yet - perhaps they never would. Despite this, while the whole thing was happening, the white-pelted female was putting it all onto her own shoulders and blaming herself for everything that happened, that was happening still. But, since she didn’t know anything all she could do was desperately watch as the secrets piled up around her while knowing that she could do nothing to stop them and understanding that, when they all came crashing down, she’d be crushed along with everyone else.

Saga stood now, sighing heavily. Khonsu, her one truly loyal friend within the pack, had left moments before. The hunter had entered her den to speak to her and it was soon apparent that he was worried about something, it cling to his pelt with a sharp scent similar to fear. After a few questions, she found that he had been ordered to go on a hunt with Reverie today. The healer knew of their history, maybe not all of it seeing as all of her information had come from a sheepish Khonsu, and had tried her best to comfort him. In the end it worked out and he walked out of the den with her reassurance. Now, though, she couldn’t worry about her friend, all she could worry about was who her escort would end up being. Whoever it was, she could only guess that it wouldn’t be fun at all. She was the mysterious blind healer who had showed up out of nowhere, ever sine she joined the pack rumours had flown around the camp about her and, with time, she had learned to ignore them, but that didn’t mean they ever stopped. Her escort, who she would have to deal with for the majority of the day, would most likely be one of the sources to these rumours. Then they’d be following after her, sulking like a pup who had just been scolded. Either that or they’d be constantly asking about how it felt to be blind and how she’s got around. Then, they’d howl at her like she was deaf as well as blind when a root or a large rock was in her path.

The white-furred wolf shook her head to clear the thoughts and then padded out of her den, her ears pricked to make sure no one was blocking the entrance. The sounds of the wolves waking up and moving around camp were more distinct now she that was outside of her den, she could distinguish which wolves were around her by their voices. But, none of them seemed to be approaching her yet so she was still unsure of who - or what - she would have to deal with for the day. As Saga waited outside of her den she repeated the list of herbs that she had to collect. It was a long list, she was restocking as most of her herbs were used up or dried out, so, truthfully, an extra set of jaws would actually be useful in carrying herbs. Perhaps she’d stuff her escort’s maw full of herbs so they wouldn’t talk. Saga swallowed back a small chuckle at the thought and then went over the list in her mind, moss, cobwebs, juniper berries, horsetail, nettle leaves... and on and on and on...

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ khonus ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
age six and a half years rank hunter location camp tagged saga, reverie

Leaving the healer’s den, Khonsu stood by the entrance and peered around, looking for a familiar white pelt. He had been with Saga in the morning with a mission to speak to her about how she was feeling about having an escort for the day, but he hadn’t got to that as she had picked up on his feeling of unease as soon as he walked into her den. Before he knew what was happening, they were talking about him. Then, as the sounds of wolves waking up and greeting one another sounded from outside of the den, Khonsu had to leave to find Reverie. So, he had no time to actually console Saga like he had meant to do. The male shook these thoughts away, deciding that, if she hadn’t mentioned it, the idea of having an escort didn’t really bother her. Then, just on cue, he spotted his hunting partner across the camp and he strode forward purposefully, leaving his worries about Saga behind and focusing on his fellow hunter.

As the distance between the two contrasting wolves got smaller, Khonsu sucked in a deep breath and calmed his nerves while he pushed away the bittersweet memories that were flooding his mind. It had been a long time since he and Reverie had even spoken, let alone been out in the forest with just the two of them. He would be lying if he said he wasn’t worried or scared, but he was still hopeful. He kept on telling himself that things would be okay and, after being reassured by Saga as well, he was feeling even better about the whole situation.

Khonsu stopped a few tail length away from Reverie with his head ducked down slightly and his tail wagging slowly, to show he was trying to be friendly. With a soft smile on his muzzle, he dipped his head, “Good morning, Reverie,” he murmured. Then, his eyes slid to the side, scanning the camp. The pack was going through some tough times at the moment, he didn’t know much, but he could sense the tensions rising. One of the main causes was the lack of prey, wolves were growing hungry and it wouldn’t be long until they began to turn on one another. Khonsu has already seen a confrontation happen. It was only a few days ago, two wolves were arguing over a scrap of meat and one had tossed accusations at the other, saying he had been stealing and hoarding prey for himself, despite his visible ribs that Khonsu could easily count. Thankfully, the fight had been broken up before the curled lips and bristled fur could turn into snapping jaws and swiping claws. He was holding on to hope that things would be better now because he didn’t want to think of what would happen if things got any worse. That was why he and Reverie were going out to hunt, to hopefully catch something. The male jerked out of his thoughts and looked back towards Reverie, his eyes unfocused and hazy. He blinked a few times until he could focus again and shoved his worrisome thoughts away before he plastered his smile back onto his maw. He tilted his head to the side in a pup-ish way before he spoke again, “Alpha wants us to go on a hunt today,” he began, explaining why he had approached her in the first place just incase she didn’t already know, “I suppose he thinks we’ll have a better chance at catching prey if there’s only two of us out there making noise. So, we got paired up.

( sorry, this is a little later than expected.. I wrote this yesterday and it got deleted, but it’s here now! I took some creative liberties and made it so there’s a little bit of mystery surrounding the problems facing the pack, I hope that’s alright. I had an idea that maybe something that has Asmodeus & Saga continuing to spend time together is the mystery? So, I figured that they want to figure out what the high ranks are hiding so they start to investigate and try to find answers. But they keep it a secret because they both want to protect their friends (Reverie & Khonsu). Then, maybe to add on to it Khonsu & Reverie kinda know they’re hiding something and try to figure it out?? I don’t know, it’s just my mind coming up with random ideas cx )

    › ❛ 𒆖. ASMODEUS ❜ ── ─
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
' AGE. four ½ years. xx ' RANK. fighter. xx ' TAGGED. saga, reverie.

indentation The morning was bleak as ever, blue eyes scanning the glowing horizon. Looming clouds hung overhead, mist drifting in the air. It seemed like it was going to rain - no, storm - soon. The thought caused Asmodeus to sigh with agitation, narrowing his eyes into slits at the thought of being stuck in with his pack-mates. Tail swaying impatiently, he regarded his pack mates with a small nod as he trotted by. The tense atmosphere was suffocating, and frankly, he was glad he would be able to escape his comrades, just for a while. Even if it was with the medic, Saga. Of course, he didn't know the female per say. He had heard the rumors circulating around her, and he wasn't lying when he said he was curious about whether the rumors were true or not. As soon as the thought came into his mind, he dismissed it very quickly, snout wrinkling in dismay. Saga was strange, solitary and skittish. Her isolation from the group made him suspicious, especially with her standing in the pack, withers standing on their ends at the thought. Or was it the tension that was forcing him to overthink things? At least she wasn't the one throwing accusatory glares every time someone came close, like the rest of his pack was.

indentation Their suspicious behavior and lack of trust made the pack akin to rabid primitive animals. Looking for someone to blame, when the only one to blame was the root of the power. The high-tier wolves. Regardless, he was loyal to his Alpha only - and Reverie. The Alpha's motives were questionable, but it wasn't like him to step out of line; and so, he held his tongue. As long as he was able to get by, that was enough. A huff escaped from the male's maw, dull claws scraping against the cold ground. Eyes scanning the mass of bodies lingering around the campsite, he picked out the familiar figure of Reverie, resting underneath the shade of a tree. Unlike him, the small female seemed fairly content despite the fact that she would very soon be reconciling with someone she used to be fairly close to - no, that wasn't right. Not close. They used to hold something more different, more precious. The female's head turned at the sight of Asmodeus, eyes instantly lighting up.

indentation "Heya, Asmodeus. Aren't you supposed to be with the medic? Y'know, as an escort?" she hummed, curiosity intertwined in her words. Of course she knew. The naturally inquisitive. Frowning, he felt Reverie study him carefully, cocking her head to the side in a knowing manner. "I doubt she's dying to meet me. She can stand a few more minutes," he huffed back bluntly. A pause. He could tell she was going to bite back in a patronizing, somewhat condescending way. She swallowed back her words however, shrugging in an apologetic gesture. "You don't want to go?" she asked, lifting her head to squint at the dull sky. "Do you?" he retorted. Another pause. The pair lapsed into silence, not tense, but not quite comfortable either. Asmodeus' eyes followed Reverie's gaze, staring up at the sky with her. ".. Dunno. Regardless of how we feel, we have to follow orders, hm?" she mumbled back, stuttering over her words a bit in attempts to gear the conversation away from her. Nodding in response to Reverie's words, the male glanced back at camp, watching his pack mates begin to rise. "Point taken. I'll see you around?" Turning around after seeing his friend smile in acknowledgement, Asmodeus made his way to the healer's den. Wolves streamed by him, whispered words being spoken among the camp. Slightly taken aback by the pungent smell of herbs, he was tactful enough not to make a face despite the fact that Saga was blind. He could care less. If he was cooperative and she was fairly quiet, he was more than glad to not speak. As long as the job was done, that was all that mattered. "Greetings," he spoke levelly, ears twitching. Eyes taking in his surroundings, he waited for the medic to acknowledge his presence.

    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
' AGE. six years. xx ' RANK. huntress. xx ' TAGGED. khonsu.

indentation Judging by the way the sky was painted, the weather seemed to call for rain. Many called the weather gloomy; in times like these, bleak weather and approaching storms hindered everyone's spirits. Depending on the conditions, Reverie wouldn't be surprised if the pack ended up confined to their camp to shelter from the seemingly approaching tempest. Like Asmodeus, she probably wouldn't last with the way her comrades had been acting. The thought brought a frown to her maw and sent shivers down her spine. Higher powers conspiring in the shadows. It was enough to make her wary like the rest of her comrades, a sense of unease settling in her stomach. Some might consider the weather a bad omen; after all, karma's an ass. What comes around goes around. Confined in one space for too long with each other, there were no doubts her pack mates would snap at each other. Like a rope pulled too taut. She had heard about the spats circulating around her camp.

indentation Unlike others, Reverie actually enjoyed the rain. The soothing sound of raindrops beating gently against the roof of her den was enough to bring up her spirits. Hell, she even enjoyed the sound of thunder rumbling in the sky and lightning flashing before her eyes, illuminating her figure. The rain was the least of her concerns. Perhaps she should've been worrying about her pack turning against each other. It all seemed so trivial. She was in a strange mood; one would call it melancholy. It was strange she felt this way, considering by nature she was affable, optimistic and polite; if not curious and cheeky. Today would've been a normal day, like any other day. But it wasn't. No matter what, the female didn't want to admit she was hung up on the fact she would be hunting with Khonsu today. It wasn't like she disliked the male; how could she ever? It brought up bittersweet memories that she wasn't quite ready yet to shove away, and she wasn't quite sure how she should've reacted. Part of her was excited to see him again; let alone talk to him. It seemed that their falling out drove a wedge between the two, leaving them without the closure that they should've spoken over. Regardless, she would have to talk with him. No working her way out of this one, it seemed.

        indentation Karma's an ass.

indentation Dragged forcibly out of her pondering, the familiar statue of her friend greeted her. The two exchanged words like they always had, though there was no doubting that they were both eager to beat around the bush on the events of today. His blunt, dry, deadpan words made her smile, coming off as more witty than sarcastic. Her friend was no doubt protective over her much to others exasperation sometimes. The conversation was quick, but one she relished; she couldn't quite focus on his words, still stuck in her trance. Just as quickly as he came, Asmodeus left; in return, Khonsu came. Blinking into focus, Reverie grinned uncertainly, sheepishly standing up. "Good morning to you too," she replied evenly. "Yes, I heard." A pause. Stumbling over her thoughts, she mumbled the first thing that came into mind. "Lead the way, cap."

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ saga ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
age four years rank healer location forest tagged asmodeus

Saga was beginning to wonder if she should just leave camp on her own and forget about her escort when Asmodeus showed up. Even though it had only been a few moments since Khonsu’s departure and she wasn’t usually impatient, she just wanted to get the trip started. She was restocking nearly along her herbs today and it would take some time, she couldn’t spare any time to sit around waiting. As she thought about it, she realized that they might even have to make two trips back to camp and then go back out to collect more herbs. But, whatever it took. She wanted to be well prepared for anything that could go wrong, she didn’t need to mess up and have her pack mates spread rumours as well as not trust her to do her part. For all she knew, a mistake could lead her to get kicked out and she couldn’t have that. She knew this camp and the wolves, Shen knew the forest around it, all the paths and the stubborn roots that she no longer tripped over.

Asmodeus’ voice made Saga turn her head towards him. She had been trapped in a daze of her thoughts and didn’t really know how long he’d been standing there. Probably not that long since he only just announced his arrival.. she thought, though doubt still flickered like a little flame in the back of her mind. She knew how much wolves likes to snoop. Though, the male didn’t really seem like one to get involved with petty rumours, or so she hoped.

The white-furred healer dipped her head slowly, “Greetings, Asmodeus,” she murmured. Sometimes wolves were shocked - she would feel it radiating off their pelts - when she recognized them without them announcing themselves. She’d often feel like reminding them that her nose still worked, but she wasn’t one for spiteful and sarcastic remarks, so she kept quiet. Though, sometimes she wondered if she’d do better in the pack and the rumours would stop if she just acted like a scared, hopeless and oblivious blind wolf who had to ask who was speaking to her. But, she would absolutely despise that. Plus, she didn’t really care what others thought, she did her job and helped wolves, that’s all that mattered, that’s all that should matter. Plus, there were many factors that allowed her to recognize wolves: their scent, their voice, even their footfalls. Once she matched that to a name it was easy.

Saga turned her muzzzle away from Asmodeus, “I suppose you’re my escort then,” she murmured and, without another word, she padded off towards the camp entrance. Feeling the slight slope beneath her paws before the entrance she padded off into the forest, tilting her ears back to make sure her escort was following her. She felt the taller grasses brush against her flanks and then she knew she was out in the forest. First is moss, there’s a mossy clearing on the west side of the territory. she thought and then she turned and padded along, falling onto her usual path that led her to the clearing. As she was walking along, she realized that, now that she had a companion, she should probably inform him about what they were doing. She she lifted her head, “We’re going to the mossy clearing right now. We need a lot of moss, so we’ll have to take the moss back before we begin to collect anything else,” she informed as she walked along. Though, talking while navigating wasn’t the easiest, another reason why she worked alone, so when her worn path got rocky and bumpy, she not-so gracefully stumbled over them. Saga cursed under breath and slowed down to get her bearings before she continued confidently. On the bright side she had only fumbled a bit and not fallen. The only times she had fallen was when she was alone and she’d like to keep it that way.

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ [ khonus ] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
age six and a half years rank hunter location forest tagged reverie

Hearing Reverie’s voice caused another ripple of bittersweet memories to surface within him. Khonsu saw her sheepish gaze and smiled comfortingly, he was glad that he wasn’t the only one feeling slightly overwhelmed. How could he - or they - have stayed away for so long? Perhaps it was because they were young when their falling out occurred so their emotions were sharper and more defined, everything felt like the end of the world back then. But, he wished they had tried harder to become friends sooner. It didn’t have to be the end, it could've been a new beginning where they were friends and it would be easier because there wouldn’t be any expectations. The dark-pelted male felt himself getting caught up with the what ifs and the maybes, so he shook his head, shaking off the thoughts. He had to focus on hunting and nothing more. His pack needed him and Reverie didn’t need him anymore, so he shouldn’t need her. Maybe only if they were hunting together.

Khonsu heard the white-furred female offer him to lead the way and he nodded, flicking his head towards the entrance before he turned and began walking towards it, “I’ve heard that the best place to hunt is down by the stream, I guess the animals hang around the water more, do you want to try down there first?” he asked Reverie, though his gaze drifted towards another white-furred wolf. Saga was speaking with Asmodeus by her den. He watched the two and hoped he wouldn’t cause any trouble for Saga, though, from what he knew, Asmodeus wasn’t one to stir up trouble. So, he was happy. At least the healer hadn’t been stuck with a yappy youngster. If so, he’d get an earful later when she was rid of her charge. He smiled at the thought, finding it amusing how Saga was so quiet until they were speaking, then she could just rant and go on and on.

The hunter left the camp and turned towards the stream, keeping his eyes focused and his ears alert while his nose was scenting the air, searching for any scents of prey. He would suggest to split up with Reverie, but they were out here together because the Alpha didn’t want wolves out on their own. So he didn’t offer up that suggestion, but instead he flicked his tail to signal to Reverie to fan out so that they could cover more ground while they sought out scent trails.

( ugh, I hate when that happens.. no worries! )

    › ❛ 𒆖. ASMODEUS ❜ ── ─
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
' AGE. four ½ years. xx ' RANK. fighter. xx ' TAGGED. saga.

indentation When he had first approached the den, he couldn't help but study Saga for a few heartbeats. Stuck in her own work, she didn't seem to notice him at first - or so Asmodeus thought. After the words escaped his mouth, he was beginning to rethink the whole thing. Taking more time to scan his surroundings, his eyes drifted around the den, before lingering on the figure of Saga. Avoidance. Her initial reaction - whatever it was - seemed to fade away quickly, composure taking the root of her features. Shifting his weight side to side in an almost nervous manner, he watched the medic dip her head, almost hesitantly. Judging by the look in her eyes, he could tell she was thinking about the situation just as much as he was; there was a strange sort of solace of sharing the same hesitancy and nervousness. Good. Maybe this would go fast and effortless. Holding his tongue, he nodded his head slightly, though it was virtually pointless considering she wouldn't be able to see him doing it. The silence was painful, and his paws itched to get out and do something.

indentation Watching Saga turn her muzzle away, he relaxed just the slightest bit. Her gaze was something he couldn't quite shake. Her comment wasn't much of a question, but rather a statement. Nodding his head again silently, he internally cursed himself for repeating the same mistake twice, much to his exasperation. Saga didn't seem to be expecting much of a response though, judging by the way she walked away with ease, almost with an air of aloofness. Pushing off his paws, he followed her in a powerful stride. Chin up, ears perked. That was the way he always held himself. Words of dominance, words of aggression were ingrained in his mind at a young age; kill or be killed. He was raised to fight, raised to climb up the ranks. Showing weakness was a sign of cowardliness, and so, he was also taught to appear impassive to situations, to fire back twice as hard. While his stance wasn't to assert dominance per say, it was to assert confidence. He knew he gave off an intimidating air - the better for him. Nobody seemed to bother him much. The male couldn't help but vaguely think about how it was for the blind female; obviously, nobody expected much from her when she arrived. And yet here she was, possessing a rank in a high tier than the ones whispering about her. It was curious, really. Obviously, his struggles couldn't compare to hers, so he tried his best to ignore whenever she slipped up, though he felt a pang of sympathy. He hated it, feeling this way. And Asmodeus especially hated when others stared at him with sympathetic eyes - especially Reverie. It made him feel inferior. Weak. The exact thing he desperately tried to shield. He remained quiet, following her obediently, but feeling grateful she didn't fall. Then he'd have to say something.

indentation Instead of overthinking the situation, he allowed his mind to drift off. He focused on his surroundings, ears twitching at the faint sound of prey scuttling away when they drew near. He subconsciously made note of the tall grasses brushing against the pads of his paws, and the musky scent of the forest lingering in the air. Whether he made the right decision or not in staying silent, his spiraling train of thought soon was cut short when the medic spoke. Softly grunting in a form of acknowledgement, his eyes peered ahead of him in anticipation of their destination.

' AGE. six years. xx ' RANK. huntress. xx ' TAGGED. khonsu.

indentation If she expected Khonsu to react coldly in her presence, the thought dissipated as soon as she saw him smile at her. If he was trying to subtly comfort her, he definitely was successful. Reverie felt herself relax almost instantly, though she was still hesitant. For what? To speak? To be near him again? She wasn't quite sure how to string her thoughts into constellations, to speak her mind in words. The quick silence that descended upon them was painful, the female almost holding her breath, watching him relive the same memories they shared together. The thought made her head spin, thoughts whirling around too rapidly to be coherent in her head. She felt the stirrings of hope root deep in her chest. Naive as always. Stupid girl. Hope for what? What they once shared? Impossible. Watching Khonsu shake off the thoughts, she exhaled a breath she didn't know she was holding. His sense of duty seemed to catch up with him, and she was reminded yet again of the true intent of their reunion. To hunt. Alpha's orders. Raising her maw in a small, subtle smile back, she pushed away from the thoughts, expression somewhat distant but nonetheless friendly.

indentation Thoughts calming instantly at the small talk, she listened to his words carefully. The idle conversation was something she relished; anything heavier would have made her heart and head implode. She was glad they were beating around the bush oddly enough; it seemed as if they both didn't want to acknowledge anything in the past, despite having their thoughts both occupied by it. For the better. A thoughtful expression on her face, she nodded her head in agreement. "Yes," she echoed, "That sounds fine by me." Hating how canned her words sounded, she tried to put more sincerity in her next comment with questionable amounts of success. "Smart thinking, Khonsu." His mind seemed to be lingering on Lupus knows what, but frankly, she was glad she would be spared the attention for a while. It was almost disappointing to her that they would interact for a bit, and then go their separate paths again. It was better not to get attached or hung up on anything. At least from what she told herself. As the male began to descend his way out of camp, she followed behind, matching his pace.

indentation Parting her maw to breathe in the scents of the forest, she exhaled quietly with a soft smile. She genuinely enjoyed her duties. Ears twitching attentively, brown eyes trailed along the forest and densely wooded trees. At Khonsu's signal, she began to slowly diverge from him, gait becoming slower and paw falls becoming lighter as they tread deeper into the heart of the woods. Eager to come back with something worth eating, she began scouring the Earth for scents. Anything she could work with.
