camilla was hugging gwynne and about to respond when she heard a bell striking through the night. "what does that mean?" she wondered out loud. suddenly, there was a knock at the door. she was almost too nervous to open it.

cautiously, she approached the door while the sound of the bell rang throughout her head. gwynne opened it slowly and blinked when she saw two guards standing beside each other, gazing coldly at the lady. "how may i help you?" she asked politely, but her tone never wavered.

"the princess must come with us now. the king had died and the prince has sent word that she is not to be left alone. the changing of the crown doesn't come without bloodshed more times than not," one of the guards said. the other walked up to camilla and seized her by her arm, pulling her off towards a more secure part of the dungeon. she didn't put up a fight, she knew it wouldn't get her anywhere.

"wait! i must be with her at all times! i'm her protection and comfort," she exclaims and tries to run after the guard with camilla. the other guard blocks gwynne with one arm and growls, "we are her only form of protection now. and she will find comfort in time. for now, she will be kept safe." he stalks off, leaving the lady in the empty room with wedding dresses and a big bed. "what am i supposed to do?"

camilla tried to pull away and go back to gwynne but they were too strong. she sighed, it was time. she shut her eyes tight and opened her hands. suddenly, the guards feel to the ground, their armor banging on the stone floors. she ran back to gwynne. "we have to leave now," she said before running over to the window. she threw it open and started to climb out onto the roof which was just outside of their window.

the lady rushed around the room, throwing things around as she searched for something that would help. gwynne made her way to her bag and pulled out a dagger, hiding it in the confines of her skirt. suddenly, she heard a familiar voice and turned to camilla, confused about how she escaped alone. no matter, she escaped anyways, gwynne thought and pushed camilla gently but quickly up onto the roof.

camilla suddenly wishes she was wearing heavier clothes as the cold wind hit her in the face. she finally felt her feet on the roof and saw light on the ground. more guards had begun to swarm around the castle, holding blazing torches in their hands. she looked around, thinking of a way to get over the huge castle wall. she walked crouched and scooted across the roof, trying to find a good place to get down.

effortlessly, she pulled herself onto the roof and watched camilla walk around before trying to get down low. "by the chimneys," gwynne whispered and crawled to the large brick squares. hopefully they could crouch behind them, but if not they'd have to get inside.

camilla nodded and went into the direction that gwynne suggested. she could see the figures of armored guards getting closer, their torches wavering in the soft wind. she felt like breaking into a sprint but that would only get her captured or killed. she finally made her way behind the large chimneys and waited for her lady to do the same.

she hurried after camilla and glanced over her shoulder every so often, ensuring that the guards hadn't seen them. soon enough, they would be under the roof and the two of them would be out of sight.
