Ivy quickly followed into the den, her back facing outwards taking the brunt of the snow and wind. She laid as close to Bramble as possible, knowing the pups were chilling Bramble’s belly. She hoped to protect her mate and the pups from as much of the cold as she could, the wind was only getting louder, luckily the hole seemed to be keeping them out of the snow well enough. She nuzzled against Bramble lightly, “they seemed to have stopped whimpering so much, are they warmer?” She started lightly brushing snow and dirt out of Bramble’s soft fur.

"They've warmed up." She murmured. They were still a bit cold, but were a lot closer to a normal temperature. Inside the small den, it was warm and cozy, unlike the snowstorm outside. With the initial frenzy past, Bramble finally took a good look at the pups. Her gaze was glued to two, who looked almost exactly like her siblings. One was a gray female, the other a black and white male.

Ivy finally settled, feeling a bit calmer than she had a few moments ago. She allowed herself to asses the pups tucked against Bramble. One of the pups was entirely black, she looked to be the smallest of the three, and Ivy thought immediately of her youngest sister, who looked just like her. She noticed Bramble's attention focused on the other two and thought back to their late night conversations about family before realizing the two probably reminded her of her own siblings. "They already look just like family." She commented, looking at the four of them cuddled together

Bramble smiled and nuzzled her mate. The snow had already packed together to create a wall that kept them warm and kept the loud snowstorm out. The pups were fast asleep, breathing softly. She wondered what happened to their parents. Did they die or did they abandon them?

"What should we do?" She inquired. "They'll die if we don't take care of them."

"I can't imagine just leaving them, they're so small. Somebody has to take care of them." Ivy looked back over at the three pups, all sleeping soundly, curling around each other. It didn't seem like there was anyone looking after them, they'd been left out before a huge storm. She didn't think anyone was looking for them, and so she didn't see any other way this could go,
"I've always wanted pups." Ivy smiled

Bramble's felt as if her heart would burst from happiness. She wagged her tail and gave her mate a quick lick on her muzzle. She curled around the pups in a protective manner, already feeling like they were her own.

"Could we name the gray one Sky, and the black and white one Raven, after my siblings?" She asked.

Bramble’s enthusiastic response only heightened Ivy’s own joy, they’d have their own pups! She was beginning feel as though she’d neee have pups before this, and now here she was. Smiling as her mate curled protectively around three precious pups, all fast asleep and already so comfortable. She didn’t think she could imagine anything more perfect. “Of course.” She nuzzled against her mate affectionately, “can we name the little black one Kai?”

"Yes." She responded. "It's perfect. Sky, Raven, and Kai."

She realized that she couldn't hear the screaming winds anymore.

"Do you think the storm has let up?" She asked.

Pawing softly at the snow, she attempted to create a small hole to peek out of. The snow had created a thick wall, and her pawing only scratched the surface. Perhaps it would be better to stay the night here, and leave in the morning when it was warmer and the snow was softer. She voiced her opinion to Ivy.

“I think you’re right, it’s still too snowy, the pups probably need the sleep anyway, they look exhausted.” Ivy snuggled closer to her mate, “we should get some sleep too, we have three new little adventures.” She rested her muzzle on Bramble’s fur, enjoying the warmth and the gentle in and out of her breathing. She smiled softly as she felt herself drifting off into sleep.

Bramble nuzzled her mate and each of the pups one more time, before laying her head down. She sighed contently and fell fast asleep.

Bramble awoke the next day, yawning, as she sleepily looked at her mate and pups. Her gaze moved to the snow, and she realized that it looked softer. She attempted to dig, and the snow gently crumbled. She quickly woke her mate.
