Background
Valentine Hale was born to a poor family in a town called Whitby, North Yorkshire in England. His father was a fisherman, and would occasionally leave for long periods of times. Similar to his father, young Valentine felt drawn to the sea, but also dreamed of owning a grand amount of riches. He did some traveling on his own when he turned fifteen for "studying purposes," but in truth, he tracked down a crew of pirates in search of a cabin boy and joined their ranks. Being a cabin boy was a rough job that earned him zero respect with the others, but nonetheless, he gathered a sense of family aboard. Overtime, Valentine began to rise in the ranks as he picked up on some tricks. Eventually, Valentine felt confident enough to leave his first crew, and gather his own with a ship he bought with the money he saved up from his previous endeavor. He named it Styx's Ship. Not once has he ever considered the idea of settling down on land, enjoying the vast and wild adventures he and his loyal crew comes across in the ocean. In his opinion, nothing could ever beat it. He's practically lived on the ocean for twelve years now.
