"Yes well um I shape shift in order to talk to humans..." Damien was surprised that the girl didn't seem upset by the fact he wasn't quite human. He paced back and forth. "Well I came up here in the first place to see why you were crying... and if there is anything I can do to help?" He hated to see anyone less than happy. And it certainly seemed a shame she must be up here all the time... the sky was blue the grass was green and he could think of a hundred things to do that were more interesting than crying over some none existent prince.

"I want to get out." She stated definitely. "More than I want a prince I want to get out of here..." She said, sighing loudly. He started pacing and she bit her lip. It was a pet peeve of hers, she hated watching people pace. "Do you want to come inside?" Peony asked. She opened the balcony door wider, and gestured with her arm toward a table and cushioned chair. "I-I'd appreciate the company..."

"Oh... um sure" Damien mumbled and walked hesitantly towards the door. So the princess wanted to get out... that was unfortunate. He could of course let her out but he still would be unable to leave the tower, and the king and queen would definitely not be pleased. He glanced around the room, it was small sure, but it was also quite quaint. He noticed the marks on the wall seeming to indicate how long the princess had been there. "I'm sorry you're stuck here... I'm sure a prince will come soon." Damien sighed, he hated that he couldn't do anything for her.

She ignored the statement he made last, and only smiled forced at him. "Come, sit down." She repeated, going over to the small table with two chairs and sat down. She looked over at him to see what he would do. "My name is Peony by the way." She said, with a more real smile. "So you don't have to call me princess." Because she never felt the need for formalities when it came to names.

"Oh... okay. Peony" He said as he sat down in the chair. He shifted in his seat unaccustomed to his human form. "You can call me Damien... Er have I said that already?" Damien didn't mean to be awkward, he just was. The princess was lonely though so he might as well attempt to have a conversation. "So... what do you do up here all these days?"

((It snowed a LOT yesterday and the power is out at my house, currently in town where there is electricity... it never snows here we are so unprepared xD))

"No, you didn't say that. Nice to meet you Damien." She said politely giving him a warm smile. "Well sometimes I read, or sketch, or sometimes I just stand on the balcony and look out the window..."She said wistfully. She had some stuff to do, but she was still bored often. "What do you do... besides guard by tower? That doesn't sound to fun honestly." She said, raising her eyebrows as she looked across the table at him.

"Well yes it is quite boring... sometimes your parents bring books for me to read, otherwise I really just spend my time sleeping" Damien said. Guarding the tower was very, very, boring. He missed flying about, raiding libraries, and caring for his hoard. But then again as far as curses go his wasn't the worst. The weather here was mild and there were quite a few pretty flowers that the great dragon liked to look at. The palace rats were also fun to watch, they always had a lot of information and were quite fun to talk to. He didn't know if he should tell the princess one of his main pass times was conversing with rodents however. "I spend an awful amount of time thinking about this and that. Like what I'd be doing if I weren't stuck here." He said finally, and it was not a lie he did often daydream about the glorious adventures he could have.

"Yah, I daydream too." She said with a sigh of longing. "So we're pretty much in the same boat, eh?" Even though she wasn't stuck here as in a curse it almost felt like that. She genuinely felt sorry for him. And she thought if something that would be nice to him. "Oh, oh, hey you can borrow some of my books! They're mostly fiction, I don't know what you prefer.. but it is better than nothing." She said, giving him a warm smile, and she felt happy to actually do something for someone else, since she had been deprived of human contact for the last month or two.

Damien's eye's lit up as the girl before him spoke. "I would love to borrow a book or two if you didn't mind!" he exclaimed joyfully, then remembering his manners said "Is there anything I can do for you...? I know there's not much in the meadow really but if you think of anything." He was surprised at Peony's kindness, he adored fiction, and the dragon desperately wanted to return the show of kindness.

Peony hummed a bit in thought, but then shook her head. "I'm sorry, but I really can't think of anything. It's not your fault, there isn't much to give in a place like this." She said honestly, shrugging. She traced her fingers along the edge of the table as she looked at him and awaited a reply. "But you know, just talking to me is a great favor in return, so I don't go insane hearing the sound of my own head and nothing else." Peony mused with a chuckle.
