John listened to her complaint. "It is good you want to make a good first impression. I commend you for that. But the plans have already been made. How rude of it to be and change our decision about this last minute." He told her before getting up. He walked out of the kitchen and into his study. Suki had come back downstairs ready to leave to go shopping. "Hurry up and change, my dear, I have no idea how long we will be out and we need to be back in time to make dinner." She told her daughter. She sat in a chair and waited for Mei. Everything needed to be perfect for tonight.

"Oh, please..." Mei sobbed. Not an actual ready cry, but her voice had a desperate tone and her words were forced out of her. "Imagine what he'll think of me. If our first meeting is here, he'll just see me as the poor criminal's daughter." She whined, yes sounding whiney. But this is the only thing she had been passionate about in forever. She could get out of this situation, have a better life. And a plus would be if they guy actually loved her, but she didnt have her hopes high. "The meal though, better not be sandwiches or chicken and rice. Impress them. And yah... I'll get dressed." She sighed and mopily headed upstairs. She decided she would skip breakfast, she had many times before. She had a small stomach, conditioned by her lifestyle.

Suki headed outside to wait for her daughter. Some fresh air aught to do her some good. She was stressed out about thinking for what dinner would be tonight, what kind of impression her daughter would make, and hoping everything that night would be perfect. Suki unlocked the car and hopped into the driver seat and started the car.

Mei went to her bedroom and changed into her old school uniform. That was what she would want to wear when she was going to actually go shopping for a nice dress. Or two if she was lucky. But even if it was just a store clerk... impressions impressions impressions. That's how it was for Mei.She hurried up, and ran down stairs. She swung open the door and went to the old car quickly, and slid into the back.

When Mei was in the car she backed out of the driveway and went off down the road. She was going to take her to a high-end store. She was only going to get the best dress for her daughter for this impression. A little later Suki parked the car and got out. "Come along we have no time to waste." She told her. She walked inside the store and immediately started talking to someone to help get her daughter fitted. The sales lady nodded and looked over Mei. "Come with me, darling, so you can pick out a dress." The lady said before walking off, hoping she would follow.

Mei followed her mother in a listened patiently while they talked. She was a little shy but excited so she nodded and followed the lady. Her raven black hair, tangly as always unless in a bun, bounced and flowed as she walked swiftly. Though it was more tangly than usual since she hadn't remembered to brush it this morning. She hoped for a light green dress, as it was her favorite color. Or pink. Or a nice white. But she didn't care too much the color as long as it was boldly beautiful and screamed, 'I don't belong in this place.'

The sales lady pulled out a few dresses and hung them in the dressing room. Suki walked back and sat on a chair. She waited to see her daughter in the dresses the lady picked. There was an ugly gold colored one, an off white/cream one and teal blue one. They were all different styles and lengths. Suki hoped she would pick one that would show off some of her curves but still be modest.

"Definetly not that one." Mei mumbled about the gold one. She carefully looked over all of them, and finally said "The cream one." Because it was an appropriate length and had a black ribbon arounnd the waist and some tiny black flower patterns at the bottom.

Suki nodded at her daughters choice. The lady grabbed it and put it in a garment bag for her and went with them up to the front. "What a wonderful choice." The lady told Mei. Suki turned to her "Next we will go get you some shoes." She said as she paid for the dress.

Mei nodded, and hummed to herself while she waited for the check out to be done with. Once they were done she started walking over to the shoe department, and looking around. "I definitely don't want heels, mom." She had to make clear.
