Byron would most likely begin to panic about being suddenly dragged into it all, but in turn he'd be grateful as he could get some time to avoid dwelling within his constant writing failure.
He'd be upset at first, not really knowing what to do especially since he had just shown him just a tad bit of kindness

Bryon is the type that will shoot a million questions a minute if he's able, but once he's calmed down, his main focus would switch to how he could help him out and such.

after they calm down would they make some sort of plan? here’s some possible things!

-”there has to be someone else who knows what to do? maybe they can remove it??” they could plan to find someone else who knew more about it or it’s history/how to remove it.

-“i don’t think we should mess with it. it appears to have made our lives worse and act as a beacon for evil creatures.” he drops the amulet and it bounces on its string and swings into his chest.

-“maybe we ought to keep it?? it seems really bad but maybe it has some sort of value or special purpose?” they could plan to keep it and use it for the greater good? or what ever purposes they see to

However I do love this route as I feel like this gives Bryon a little more information on how serious this situation is and why he's running the way he is.

I think night would still be the best time. Caius could explain his story.
Byron would just be like
"Seems like you've had a rough time..I suppose you can rest up, i can stay on watch for the night"

while he rests and such Byron would just keep journals of this entire expierence

that would so cool for byron to keep a journal(s) of his experiences!!

cauis would probably curl up and shake a little bit in his sleep. he’d sleep more peacefully than before, knowing someone was watching over them.

any ideas for what they would do in the morning?

Well there could be two possible options.

1) Either Byron could still be sound asleep, but rather close to him due to staying up rather late

or

2) Cauis could wake up to Byron not being there, feeling a slight sense of abandonment, but in all actuality, Bryon just went out on an expedition to find a food source to get them going for the day.
