"Probably because I hated every second of it," he said, pulling out the instrument and running his finger down it. "My mother made me take lessons, and I thought it was the most pointless thing ever. I was too young to care about a flute, and besides, its a flute. Not my choice of instrument by far."

Valentine frowned, "That's a shame. The flute is a beautiful, delicate instrument. What is your preferred instrument?"

"Anything with strings, but there is something magical about a well played violin or cello. I don't know if I have an absolute favorite though. I just know its not the flute," he said looking down at his instrument with a scowl. His fingers naturally found their place on it, and he examined it with disdain.

She watched as he held the flute, almost as if it had never left his hand. "Do you remember how to play?" she asked curiously.

Gawain's face showed his discomfort and reluctance. Looking at Valentine he sighed. "I do remember how, but you cannot tell anyone about this. Promise?" Not waiting for an answer, he slowly brought the flute to his lips. With an inhale, he began to play. He chose something that he knew well by heart. The song started slowly, then picked up to something deeper and more melodious. The sound filled the room, and his skills were apparent as he played the more complex parts of the piece. Eyes closed and fingers moving he could feel his face flushing. If Quinn was anywhere nearby he would give Gawain trouble for it. The song ended as it started, slowing down and fading into one long note.

By the time he finished playing, Valentine was star struck and mesmerized. She didn't want the melody to end. "Gawain... that was beautiful. I promise I won't tell anyone. It's a shame you don't like playing it."

"That's what everyone says. I've always hated it. Maybe because I was made to do it, and felt like I wasted so much time stuck inside playing it. It is good for rainy days, I suppose," he said, waving the flute at the window.

"You know what else is good for rainy days?" she asked as she walked closer to him, kissing him on the cheek and removing the flute from his hands.

"What?" he said, raising his brow.

She grabbed his hand and pulled him up. "Follow me."

She giggled as she led him through the halls. It wasn't long before they ended up at the green house entrance. Valentine opened the door and led him inside, "Over here". She pointed to a love seat that was off to the side in a little area that Valentine had turned into a make shift parlor room to go with her make shift office. It was a nice place to sit and look out the large windows.

She sat down and patted the space next to her signaling Gawain to sit next to her. "Rainy days are good for coming to the greenhouse and sitting, listening to the rain hit the glass roof. It's very relaxing, don't you think?"
