↣ ↣ "This one's Blue. Blue's the beta."

A Jurassic World roleplay where Owen Grady, the park's residential raptor trainer, has his DNA forcibly mutated into that of the beasts he works with. Unconsenting to the procedure, he's unaware of the biological change until he comes face to face with the four velociraptor sisters - AKA, the prehistoric monsters he'll have to call his 'roommates'.
↣ "Who's the Alpha?" ↢

Owen must learn how to survive in his new body, whilst handling the four raptors who may or may not like the new shift in authority. He'll face numerous challenges, from growing accustomed to his new diet to dealing with an overbearing beta intent on keeping an eye on his every move.
"You're lookin' at him, kid." ↢ ↢

    The beta of the pack
    The oldest of the sisters
    The feistiest of the raptors
    Cunningly intelligent
Could outsmart anything if she wanted to
    An excellent specimen of aggression
Bossy yet respects authority when she sees it
    Incredibly protective of her pack
    The blue stripe her namesake
Claws and teeth reminiscent of scythes
The perfect example of an apex predator
A victor for millions of years of evolution
A beast who knows no fear

{{ No worries! Are you fine with me writing about the sister's reactions to a new raptor being moved in, like I end with the humans just coming in and leaving Owen at the edge of the clearing?

Blue wasn't sure what to think. The humans were causing a commotion outside of the pen she was forced to call home, yet the bars offered her little vision to observe the situation when she approached them. Some of them had been looking down at her all day, writing on clipboards and speaking in hushed conversations about things that she could barely make out. Not that it mattered, considering there was a rather large language barrier between them but still - she had no idea what the humans were planning, and it was beginning to frustrate her more than it probably should.

As she paced below the balcony where some of the humans stood, claws kicking up dirt and leaves in her wake, Blue let out a long hiss through her bared teeth. The other raptors were off doing their own thing behind her, though she paid no attention to them and instead kept a watchful eye on the intruders. They were no longer looking down at her she noticed, but rather they'd turned their focus to the opposite side of the wall as if something had grabbed their eye. Trilling in suspicion, Blue set her amber gaze on the wall and tried once more to look beyond the obtrusive steel, and this time her efforts were rewarded with hazy objects she recognised to be humans. The image didn't look right however, and it was only when they began approaching the pen did she realise that they were hauling something large between them. She maintained her glare, unfamiliar with the new object and wanting to find out what it was before she allowed it to enter her territory. But when she heard a multitude of clicks above her, Blue looked up only to growl at the sight she was met with.

Another set of humans lined the balcony, an assortment of rifles pointed down at her in a threatening display of dominance. Lowering her body in defense, Blue backed away from the bars and signalled for her sisters to group together. Within seconds the four raptors were side by side, each one of them hissing or glaring in retaliation as the door to the paddock swung open. Scientists carefully stepped in accompanied by two more men brandishing electrified rods, though they were all back behind the wall after a moment when they settled the mystery object onto the ground.

While her sisters focused on the guns, Blue studied the new addition and took a cautious step forward. She raised her head and sniffed the air for new scents, only to let out a noise of surprise when the object of her suspicion moved.

“Everything has changed.. Yet I am more me than I have ever been"

xxxxxxMale || Alpha || Fearful

xxxI was known for kicking in my sleep. It’s strange how my brain decides that is going to react to the things that were going on that were out of its range of understanding. The way that it managed to weave together the things that I did in my waking life into the dreams that I had at night. I often woke up with strange bruises on my body often not having a clue where they came from. Sometimes I was warned about them and told that I should see someone about my violent dreams, but I suppose when one is immersed in violence your consciousness has no choice but to intertwine it into the world of you sleeping life. My dreams were peaceful thankfully, However I didn’t remember actually falling asleep in the first place. My eyes fluttered open gently as I felt my environment move. It also made a few metallic clangs but I ended up allowing myself to fall asleep again. The one thing that I did take note of is how foreign my body felt, my legs felt heavier. Like someone had coated them in some kind of cement that still allowed to me to move.

xxx The next sense that was brought into focus after my eyes had begun to flutter open again was my hearing. Raptor calls. It was something that I had heard so many times over, the familiar noises made by the companions that I had spent so long getting to know over the time that I had spent at the park. The calls seemed… different. I could not quite put a finger on it but it was almost like I could hear words with the shrill sounds attached to them in different ways which seemed to tie together the loose words. I must be dreaming. It’s not the first time that I had heard raptor calls in my sleep, my mind must be saturated with the different nuanced sounds that came from the animals that I have grown so close too over the years. I remember that I once had a dream that I was able to communicate with the pack, but I woke up and the real world hit me again with its reality of not being able to properly communicate with the elusive species. I also heard words of others, the different hushed tones filling my ears and causing me to want to try to sit up and pay more attention to what they were saying. I still felt like I was being held down somehow, it felt like someone had put casts on the most part of my body, causing the affected areas to be stiff and hard to control. Clunky and awkward is the other way that I would describe it. Despite beginning to be more and more awake, I was still feeling like I was unable to move.

xxxThe more conscious that I got of my surroundings the more that worry began to accumulate in my stomach in a storm that I knew would explode at one point or another in a rush of adrenaline. I could feel the metal of the walls as my leg banged against it. I moved my foot to touch it gently when I felt like I could finally control it. I lifted my head gently feeling a throbbing pain serge through it very quickly causing me to put it down again. Now that my eyes were a little clearer again I could see the light streaming in through the windows in the side of the metal container. What was this? Why had I seen it before? It was oddly familiar yet still alien to me. It was like I was looking through the bars of a cell from the other side. I attempted to lift my head again to get a look at my surroundings. I wanted to see where on earth I was. Had I gotten hurt at the park and they needed to keep me in isolation? That could be why my body felt so strange. That's when I finally managed to pull my head up and my vision cleared enough to see a very familiar pair of golden red eyes. That along with the shrill noise that I heard confirmed what I was seeing. Blue. Better yet, she could see me.

xxx I kept my eyes locked on her and my heart rate was beginning to go up along with the adrenaline that was on its way. Why on earth was I this close to the raptor paddock? I did not think twice this time about trying to stand up. I used the wall to support my body as I felt my hand slip against the ground as I tried to use it in vain to prop myself up. What was wrong with me? I've never felt this detached from my body before, as though someone had suck a robotic arm to my body and made me use it without giving me a manual as to how it worked. I looked outside at the sun with fear probably in my eyes. I stepped out of wherever I was very slowly tripping over my own feet a few times the wall being the only thing that was keeping me from falling over. I could see that Blue was keeping her distance, but when I got to the entrance of the small metal crate (I suppose that is what it was) I realized that there was no glass separating myself from the paddock. I froze for a second still allowing my body to lean against the metal crate. My heart was threatening to leap into my throat. That's when I looked at her again and tried to bolt from where I was, however the second I took two steps into the raptor paddock I fell over. It was as though there was some kind of metal ball on a chain attached to my back causing me to be held back. My legs felt like they were made out of jello as soon as I tried to walk a few steps on them. I didn’t look to see what that ball was nor did I know what was the matter with my legs. I only kept my eyes on Blue trying to see how she would act, I was a dead man. No way anyone was going to try to enter the paddock to come to my aid nor would they fire upon the raptors as I had commanded them too. I was at the mercy of the instincts of Blue and her sisters.

It was only the early afternoon, and already this day was giving Blue the raptor equivalent of a migraine. There were just too many things going on around at her at once, from the humans using unfamiliar gestures to this large crate that was just settled into her paddock. She could vaguely recognise the containment unit, simply because she'd been the prisoner of one on multiple occasions when the humans felt the need to study her or give her a check-up. It's this reason why she was suspicious of it from the start - not only because it was introduced to her home before she'd had a chance to deem it a non-threat, but because she was smart enough to realise that something had to be inside. And the raptor could put two and two together to understand that it wasn't food, which meant that whatever it was had to be an enemy, an unwanted intruder. Blue briefly wondered if the humans had brought it here to kill off her sisters, perhaps to make room for other dinosaurs or because they figured she was too much of a threat to continue living. With that thought in mind the sapphire-coloured raptor brought her head up to send a heated glare towards the guards up top, fully noticing how their rifles had twitched as if they yearned to pull the trigger.

But then a loud noise came from within the steel cage, and Blue turned to focus her attention back to the unknown assailant. There were a series of highpitched shrieks from inside, as if the sharpest of claws were scratching against the metal of the walls. Immediately on alert Blue exhaled loudly through her nostrils, taking another step backwards in wariness as the caged predator began making its way outside. Her sisters were growing restless behind her as they finally recognised the threat, one even being so bold as to attempt to pass her to confront it. She immediately snapped her teeth at the raptor, seeing that it was Echo, and the orange omega hissed in frustration before submitting to Blue's demands and settling back into the line behind her. With that done, Blue settled her gaze onto the approaching enemy and narrowed her eyes upon finally recognising what it was.

    Another raptor.

Her mind immediately screamed competition, and she lowered herself to the floor with a warning growl as if she were one second away from launching forward and sinking her teeth into the other's flesh. Her heart was racing with adrenaline, unfamiliar with the pure concept that there were other raptors around other than her own pack. Not once had she ever heard a responding call whenever she signalled out, nor had she even scented one within the perimeters of her territory. So needless to say, these new events definitely left her feeling cautious and confused. But after observing the new raptor for a tense few moments, Blue's defense slowly let up as she noticed how uncoordinated and frightened the other raptor looked. It was a rather weak display, and quite frankly she was offended that the humans figured this predator could take her down. But of course she knew all about tactics and techniques - for all they knew, this could be some sort of sly ploy to get her to let her guard down, and she'd be damned if she'd fall prey to it like a pathetic hatchling. So with her claws poised and her tail swinging slowly behind her in agitation, Blue readied herself for any attack the enemy planned on bringing. That is, until something hit her all all at once and made her freeze.

A familiar scent. A strikingly familiar scent. One that she's known for the entirety of her life, one that she's grown to respect. There wasn't another like it. Awed, the raptor straightened up and stared at the other with a strange new intensity, her mind working to understand how this could be. Ignoring the bickering sisters behind her, Blue carefully began moving forward, steps slow and calculated as she approached the stumbling beast in front of her. Once she was within a claw's distance of him, she leaned forward to get a better confirmation of his scent. Satisfied with her findings, Blue tilted her head and let out a short chirp.

    "Alpha."
