He had heard the loudspeaker, so he guessed that maybe he'd see the pair going about looking proud of themselves. Reid had, in his opinion, certainly seemed the type to do that kind of thing. He would have decided to just stay and watch the the rest of the competitors until the jump-off, but this kind of thing sort of still got him nervous, so he decided not to.
Eventually, Logan spotted Reid and his mare so he walked briskly over to them, slowing down as he got closer, as to not potentially startle the mare.

During their amble, Reid saw Logan head their way. He let Fae stop when he got close and slipped off he mare's back. He hoped he didn't want his breeches back just yet or he'd be going in the jump-off in his underwear.
"Well I hope you don't mind if I borrow your breeches for one more round? Otherwise, I can switch into my grubby ones," he said while scratching his neck with a hint of embarrassment.

Folding his arms, and leaning his weight into one leg, Logan deliberately looked as though he was thinking about it - and as though he was seriously considering declining. He was tempted to draw it out for as long as he could, but he wasn't really one to beat around the bush too much. "Alright then." He agreed, with a slight nod. This wasn't even his event, so he wasn't sure why he was concerning himself too much with helping another rider succeed. Normally, he wouldn't care in the slightest about helping. "But do not mess them up." He warned.

With a ghost of a smile, he turned to look at Fae who seemed more preoccupied with everyone who was ignoring her, "don't dump me off or he'll sell you for glue once I'm dead."
When he turned to look back at Logan, he saw the same bravado he saw and felt with everyone else here. As much as he came off as tough and apathetic, he bet that deep down he wasn't so bad, but he wouldn't call him out on it.
"At least I'm first on the jump-off list. More likely to be bumped out that way and it won't be much longer til they call us back out."

He knew that it was likely just a tease to the mare, but Logan still scoffed, unimpressed. "As if I'd do that. She clearly has the potential to carry on for years. It would be ridiculous to waste it, even if I'm furious enough to see to your demise." He said, rolling his eyes slightly.
Then, Logan shrugged slightly, as if none of it really meant anything to him, almost as if he was a beginner. He was, in a way... if it came to just jumping. "Okay then. Just know that I won't be watching, but I'll still be around... so don't even think of trying to run off when you're finished." He warned. He was going to have to return to the show ring with Jetstar and Jupiter, but that wouldn't be until a little later, and he figured that there would still be time anyway.

He couldn't help but smirk at his explanation of how he valued the mare over him. One thing he couldn't fault him for was utilizing sarcasm. It stung a little, especially with his lack of interest, but Reid knew he couldn't take it personally. That was this life anyway.
"That's fine, I probably already impressed you," he said as he remounted and turned Fae towards the warm-up ring, "I'll see you afterwards." With a nudge, the trotted the mare off and entered the ring to warm up, not letting his flirtatious grin slip despite how he was feeling.

Logan was stunned for a moment, evidently not quite expecting that response - though he wasn't quite sure what sort of response that he'd been expecting anyway. But for Reid to think that he was impressed just annoyed Logan a little more. "I don't get impressed, so you're out of luck there." He insisted, and he watched as Reid remounted the mare and about to leave for the warm-up ring. "Yeah, yeah." He muttered, and he stood there for a few more moments as Reid rode off. Logan was starting to feel a little conflicted. If he hadn't been mistaken, then it was almost as if Reid was borderline flirting with him. Shaking his head, Logan turned around and walked off, returning to see to his horses for a little while.

Perhaps he was letting this whole exchange get to him a bit but his mind was preoccupied with it. At one point in the warm up ring, Fae crow-hopped out of irritation at him, "sorry darlin' my bad. Gotta get my head back in."
Soon they were back in the arena and starting around the seven-jump speed jump-off. They cleared the triple combination and flew over the oxer at lightning speed. When they landed, he realized Fae was too far forward and wouldn't make the sharper turn, so he had to go around the Liverpool for a clean shot. They cleared the vertical and specialty jump before approaching a Swedish oxer to finish. As much as they'd have a time fault, it was better than rails down. They approached the jump and he set it up for her, but the fluorescent rails and distance must have thrown her off and the top last rail fell to the ground behind them.
That was Reid McHannon and Righg in Flight with a total of 5 faults to lead the jump-off. Reid cursed under his breath, knowing they'd likely not contend for ribbons now but he couldn't bring himself to assign blame. They did their best and that was betr than usual. Leaving the ring, he headed back for the trailer.

Logan brushed down Jetstar and Jupiter, and he started to tack them back up. He would need to go to the arena soon, ready for the Dressage results to be announced, and he'd need to ride one of his horses for each announcement. Since he wouldn't have the time to get back to the stalls and then back to the arena, he figured that he should take both horses, and then reluctantly allow for a show volunteer to stand with whichever horse he wasn't riding. He then carefully sorted himself out, so that he looked as immaculate as he could, and then he took hold of both horses and started to lead them towards the showring.
As he walked, he spotted Reid and his mare walking off, towards the trailers. Logan paused, tempted to call out to him, but knew better not to. He could wait until later, he was sure of it.

Once they were back at the trailer, he immediately began to strip Fae of her tack and give her a generous rubbing-down. She worked hard today and despite it being a bit of a disappointment, he couldn't bear to take it out on her, "good work today little miss. You pulled out all the stops as usual."
Once she was tied, clean and well on her way to being fed, he decided to change out of Logan's breeches. They wouldn't be on the podium today so he didn't have to worry about looking his best. Once he was out of them and into a pair of jeans, he slipped out of the cab of his truck and walked towards the other guy's trailer, intending to leave them there with a thank-you note and heading off to the stadium for the announcements.
