sherlock's voice came cheerful and happy through the phone. "yeah, about that..." he breathed in. this couldn't be good for his boyfriend's mental health. "got into a bit of trouble with the case." john paused, then hurried to finish the sentence. "but I'm okay, everything's okay."

What did that mean. Instantly Sherlock became worried, but it was probably nothing so he tried not to sound like he was. "Oh? What happened?" He asked. Everything was fine. He was sure of it. "Does Lestrade have the guy already? Don't tell me he's gonna make me paperwork again last time I think my mind got up and walked away." He said jokingly with a small smile.

john was a little too soft in trying to explain what happened, it seemed. "yeah, don't worry, he got him." john was sure his anxious tone was clear. "I, uh, I got shot." he let out a breath of air, waiting for a response. it was all he could do not to keep speaking, assure sherlock he was okay, that everything was fine, but he was sure the detective was already a bit shocked.

Silence. It's like Sherlocks normally moving and busy brain suddenly stopped. "Y...You got shot?" His voice sounded broken. No... this couldn't be happening. His eyes were wide and he felt himself tear up. No. Not now. He could deal with emotions later. "What hospital." He suddenly said. His voice was dead, had no emotion. He quickly got his shoes on and grabbed his jacket.

as soon as he heard that drop in his voice, that serious, emotionless tone, he regretted his words. "really, love, it's okay,
I'm okay I promise." a whole lot good his last promise did, when he put himself in the direct line of danger and got himself shot. and he was okay, if not for a few weeks of soreness and some painkillers- it was sherlock's mental stability he feared for.

Sherlock didn't bother to ask what hospital again. He felt himself breaking down inside but he just continued on. His whole body going onto autopilot. He got onto his computer, the cellphone still pressed up onto his ear. He quickly traced where John was from his phone and ran out. He hailed a cab and got in, telling the cabbie the hospital name and they started going foward. "I'm on my way." He said with that emotionless voice again to john then hung up. He got there quickly, in about 10 minutes. He ran in and yelled Johns name to the poor receptionist. When he found out what room his boyfriend was in he wasted no time and ran. When he got to the room he was panting, but he couldn't care less. All he cared about was john. He tried to make his face blank before he opened the door and stepped into Johns room.

john continued to try and console him, only stopping as he heard the phone click- sherlock had hung up. john dropped the phone on the bed, leaning forward and pressing his forehead into his hands. if he had just been more careful.. maybe things would be alright. it felt like hours, but only about 15 minutes passed until the door opened. instantly, john was on his feet, and ran to hug sherlock. even if he was doing his best to make the situation seem minor, he still felt so close to loosing sherlock, and that made him afraid.

Sherlock only hugged him for a few seconds then pulled away. He didn't have the look he always had when he was with John. He instantly started examining him. He looked all around John to see where the wound was how bad it was, and I'd there were any other injuries, when he saw that John was okay he took in a breath and let it out for which weemed like the first time since John had called him. Then, careful not to hurt John he hugged him again. His face barried against Johns neck. Suddenly he choked out a sob, and didn't stop. He had nearly had a panic attack in the taxi cab. Thinking when he got to the hospital john would be gone.

"I'm alright." he said again as sherlock pulled away, meeting his serious yet concerned gaze. as he pulled him into another hug, john's body pressed into his. the couple stood there in total silence, john holding sherlock close as he cried. "I won't leave, I won't leave you." he murmured gently, not wanting to leave the embrace, and knowing sherlock needed the support.

Sherlock continued to cry. He was really breaking down now. That's when he decided. No more emotion, no more anything. He would be Johns guard dog and he wouldn't let anything happen to him, not anymore. He quickly wiped his eyes and sniffled. Pulling away. After a few seconds his face became blank again. Just like before. "When did they say you can check out." He said with that voice.
