Alice nodded and looked down it was a shame... she felt bad for them but there was nothing she could do for them. She blinked and perked her ears, "Y-Yes." She said wagging her tail happily, she was hungry. "D-Do ah... can I help cook?" She asked thoughtfully, she did have to learn after all.

Raven nodded and followed after him lightly, they had food packed, but they could also hunt if needed, it was the middle of the day right now. Which meant they'd have to stop eventually but she wanted to get a decent start to catch up, she'd never fail a mission and she refused to start now.

Verus nod his head. "Yes. You can help. Come. Let's find a place for us to start our fire." He walked to the forest and began picking some dried sticks. He turned to Alice, holding up the sticks. "Dead sticks and branches are more ideal for fire. They do not cause a lot of smoke when burning." He handed Alice the stick and held one himself, bending it lightly it snapped easily. "When it snaps with ease, it is a sure sign that it is a dead branch. Let's try to gather a handful each. It should be enough to cook our lunch." He smiled a soft, genuine smile at Alice before he turned and began gathering more sticks while heading in a certain direction, towards a small tree. Once there, he sat down and he put down the branches only leaving out two of the longer branches which he sat aside. "Now, he will put a small handful in a pile and start a fire." He took off his backpack and put it down in front of him. He reached in and pulled out the fire starter. "We will use this to start our fire."

Alice nodded and wagged her tail happily, he actually smiled at her! She nodded and moved to his side she curiously broke the stick and beamed, it was dead, she nodded her head. They gathered more sticks and looked at it she sat down curiously, "How?" She asked, he had told her it was a fire starter but she pondered how it worked. Her pink eye glowed curiously as she was anxious to learn.

"Like this." He squeezed and released the end of the starter quickly and a spark ignited. He looked at Alice. "This fire starter doesn't actually start the fire but it does provide the spark that is needed to get the fire started." He reached in his bag and he grabbed his flask. He sprinkled a little alcohol on the pile before he put it back in the bag. "Just a little something to help the spark." He lowered the fire starter to the branches and starting striking the flint rapidly several times until the spark landed on the branches. He lowered his head to the small burn on the branch and began blowing gently. Slowly the color of the burn grew and soon a small fire took its place. Verus sat up and he looked at Alice. "As soon as you see the spark beginning to burn a branch blow gently. Blow too hard and you blow out the heat that starts the fire. Blow too soft and the heat will die out. Blow just right for its size, it will grow for you." He looked at Alice. Maybe he was a better teacher than he thought but learning how to survive was something that was important for everyone on this world but Verus seem a bit more passionate about it than he has about anything else this past few days.

Alice blinked and watched him at work, she nodded her head and examining as he did... to much wind was dangerous on any account... She mused softly and her eye widened as the fire grew to life, "Amazing..." She said, she focused on making notes in her head on how to do this. "Can I take my hood off?" She asked her ears getting uncomfortable since she usually liked to have them perked to listen out. She sniffed the air the fresh smell of fire lingering, the toasty warm smell that meant food was soon. 'Not yet Alice, you need to wait till he gets out the meat to cook.' she thought to herself and then pondered, or would they hunt again? Surely there wasn't any possum left.

Verus looked up and noticed that the leaves on the branches provided enough cover for him to feel comfortable enough for Alice to remove her hood. He looked at Alice and he is his head. He thought lightly on how he could make the hood better. He could cut some holes in the hood but he worried that her ears might give her away should the hunter happen to see them. He reached out and grab the can off salt and the sticks he set aside. He pulled out the rest of the meat and he frowned lightly. They would need to hunt later on for dinner." He put the remaining meats on the stick and set them next to the fire. He leaned back against the tree and he watched Alice carefully. "Your hair in the front of your face should be pulled back or trimmed. It is better to see fully out of both eyes instead of one." He said.

Alice nodded softly she watched the meat happily and watched them cook, she blinked and then looked down sadly, "Ah... it wouldn't make that much of a difference." She said, she pulled back her hair lightly to reveal a scar over her other eye. She lost it trying to escape from Jasper which was nothing short of a miracle in itself. She lost her eye and her father... but she made it out alive which is what her father wanted.

Verus blinked then he lowered his ears and he frowned lightly. "Was that from Raven or her pet wolf?" He asked before he sat up lightly. "You have given me information on Raven. What information can you give me on her pet wolf?" He asked.

Jasper paused at the hollow tree with the split and he growled lowly. "She was here...with another.." He inhaled deeply. "Hybrid. Feline type." He looked over at Raven. "What do you think?" He asked.

Alice pinned her ears back softly looking down, "Her pet wolf... his name is Jasper because that's what Raven calls him... he's very loyal to her. He obeys only her and he doesn't talk but they seem to communicate fine." She said, "He's really fast and powerful." She shivered meekly. She sighed, "I wish I knew more but honestly I barely know anything on him." She said.

Raven frowned, "Met up with a feline mhm." She said. "Interesting, most felines prefer to be on their own." She mused. She found some tracks, "Seems like a fairly big male by the smell and looks." She said, "No signs of blood or struggle so obviously he took her in." She said. "If he's helping her he is either a rogue hybrid or she avoided telling him." She said thoughtfully, "Either way they will be easy to find together." She smirked. "Do you want to keep going?" She asked.

Verus let out a slightly disappointed sigh. It wasn't much information but if that was all she could give him then that was better than nothing. "Fast and powerful. We'll have to keep an eye out for him as well then." He flipped the meat lightly. "So there is two after you. Hopefully we will reach the port town, Barnsley before they find us."

Jasper frowned disapprovingly. No matter if the feline took her in or not, nothing would stand in the way of his order from Raven. "Only if you insist."
