"Alright....I feel one....two.....three. I feel three kits." He responded before moving his paw away. "You should be due any day now. If you feel any pain or discomfort, let me know right away." He said, wanting to make sure everything went well. "I don't care what time it is or what I am doing. Let me or Hollyheart know. But your kitting should go fine. You are strong and healthy. Not to mention your kits seem rather lively so far."

Her amber eyes widened as she heard what the prize was. "What?" Before she could say anything, the two toms had already left and she was left standing there next to Foxpelt. Why would Robinpaw choose that as a prize?

Letting out a laugh, he shook his head. "Well it will be interesting to see who wins. For now, we can start hunting." He said as he nudged her before turning to find his own prey to catch.

The tom walked out and shook his head when a raindrop fell on him. "Rain? But I didn't sense a storm....." He mumbled to himself before remembering Pigeoncloud. Did he cause this? Well a little rain wouldn't hurt them and they could find a sheltered place to practice. "Where shall we go Shimmerstar?"

"That's good. I remember when I was an apprentice. My mentor was Fawnleap at the time. I learned everything from her....and earned a lot of cuffs over the ear." He let out a small laugh. "But enjoy this time while you can. I made great memories when I was an apprentice. When I was a new apprentice, I put a lizard in Barkfurs nest once. It was funny." He snickered at the memory.

Stalking forward and pupils dilated as he watched the mouse, he prepared to jump. Pausing, he bunched his muscles before he leapt forward. The mouse barely let out a squeak before he landed on it and swiftly nipped it's neck. Scooping up the dead body, he took it over to a bush and carefully hid it. Catching the scent of rabbit, he turned and began to follow the scent.

"Really? Did Barkfur claw your ears for it?" She asked, having a hard time seeing her mentor taking the prank well. "I would be too scared to do that!"

"Of course! I am going to be a great fighter! I will train until I know all the fighting moves!" She vowed as she trotted after her father. "I am sure you can help me do that."

"The training hollow should be fine." He murmured. He looked up. Rain. Normally a cat warned him of this. He looked at Eaglewing, confused. It was normally him, actually. Shimmerstar purred as he looked down at Halfpaw. "I will try." He murmured, smiling.

Barkfur shuddered, remembering the day Rabbittail and Sootpaw were speaking of. It was horrible. He had tried to sentence the young Rabbitpaw to never receiving his powers, but Shimmerstar decided he would simply have to look after the elders everyday for a halfmoon. Barkfur was furious with settling with just that, so Shimmerstar rather reluctantly said Rabbitpaw must do whatever Barkfur said for a whole day. This was great. First Barkfur demanded Rabbitpaw catch 3 fish and 2 rabbits. Which, he did. Somehow... Then he made him completely clean Barkfur's pelt, removing any fleas or ticks, as well as making it shine like the sun. Rabbitpaw did that too. There were quite a few other things actually... Barkfur frowned and turned around, looking at Rabbittail. "How did you do all those things? And why?" He asked, gazing deeply into Rabbittail's eyes.

Hollyheart sent Sunpaw back to camp to leave the Silvershrooms in the medicine den. Once he returned, she padded into the forest to find the juniperberries. It wasn't difficult. She went to the catmint patch and got Sunpaw to grab them, then they returned to camp. Hollyheart padded up to her nest and collapsed.

Hazelpaw blinked, seeing Hollyheart and Sunpaw padding around with herbs. She rolled her eyes. Herb collecting actually sounded better than training today. She shook her head, her thoughts kept going to Sootpaw. Sunpaw had just walked up and she was instantly happy. He didn't offer to share the squirrel. He didn't make sure to be kind to her everyday. Did Sootpaw just like him because he was 'cute' and 'funny'? Hazelpaw actually talked to Sootpaw. She asked her how her day was, she brought her prey. Did Sootpaw just think she was being nice?

Sunpaw took the mushrooms back to camp, then followed Hollyheart into the forest. They walked around gathering stuff for a while, and Hollyheart put him in charge of the Catmint. His mouth watered. It smelt so good... He struggled to stay focused, but once they reached camp he hurried to the medicine den and put them down. Hollyheart lay in her nest, so Sunpaw assumed he was dismissed. He purred. He had the whole day to himself now. He hadn't noticed the rain before, it must have been happening for a while.

Leopardflight jumped down to the ground and covered his prey with leaves. He sniffed the air, then caught scent of a mouse. He carefully looked around, then crouched, spotting the creature eating a seed.

Leafheart sighed. She wasn't too far from camp, but she really didn't want to keep going. She was breathing heavily and lay down in some shade. She scowled as it started raining.

Pigeoncloud blinked as Hollyheart walked by. She looked exhausted. And very unhappy. He felt the same way...

She frowned. "Three?" She asked. Almost all the cats she knew who had been born with two littermates, only had one alive today. She shook her head. "All the more to love!" She purred, not wanting Pinetail to think she was insane. Three kits was great! Why would one of them die just for being born in a litter of three?

"Yes. Soon you will have three bundles of fur to love." He gave her a small smile before he stood up. "I will be in my den if you need me. Be sure to get plenty of rest and don't push yourself too hard." He said softly. Turning, he walked out of the nursery.

She set out to hunt, sniffing around until she caught the scent of a shrew. He felt the rain drops but ignored it for now.

Following a squirrels scent, he began to track it to hopefully bring back for Spottedpelt. He couldn't wait for their kits to arrive, wanting to be a father badly. It would be nice to start a family with his love.

Flicking his head as water hit him, he hoped it wouldn't get any worse as Pigeonclouds powers threw his off. It wasn't a natural storm after all. "Sounds good. Hazelpaw needs to work on her precision a bit but she is still young and barely started battle training."

Giving him a confused look, he tipped his head to the side. "What things are you talking about?" He wasn't sure what he was referring to at the moment. There was quite a things he was good at doing in his opinion after all.

The tom leapt over a bush but stopped when he saw the elder. "Leafheart? What are you doing all the way out here?" He asked as he padded over to her. "Are you alright? You seem to be breathing a bit heavily."

Her gaze rested on her mentor, waiting to see what he said. She had the strange feeling that there was something between them. They were acting a bit odd and the atmosphere seemed rather tense.

Bounding along, he playfully swatted at the leaders tail. "I plan to be the best and I'll work hard until I am!" She exclaimed, her tail waving about in excitement. "I can't wait to learn everything!"

Shimmerstar stopped as they reached the clearing. He looked up at the sky and sighed. It was raining more heavily now, but they still had to train. "Alright, Halfpaw follow me." He said, padding to the middle of the clearing. He waved his tail for Hazelpaw and Eaglewing to stand to the side. "I will try to attack you and you must fight back. The aim is to use your small size to your advantage." He said. He knew there were a few different moves to teach her before she'd be good at it, but he wanted to see what she came up with.

Barkfur stared at Rabbittail for a moment, confused. "You put a lizard in my nest. You were punished for that." He said. He frowned and looked down at the ground. Had he made it up? He could remember it so clearly... Maybe it was a dream?

Hollyheart looked over at the Silvershrooms. There were enough for Spottedpelt, but some spare. Maybe she could use her ancestors' blessing to guide a certain tom on the right path.

Hazelpaw frowned. She didn't like her mentor mentioning how she could improve. She knew it wasn't bad and she was only young, but she hated being told that she wasn't the best at something. She lashed her tail, but of course the rest of them weren't looking at her.

Sunpaw looked around the cave. He sighed, as all the apprentices were out. He sat feeling bored for a while, then spotted Pinetail padding out of the nursery. "Hello, Pinetail! Hollyheart and I got some Silvershrooms!" He purred, staring up at the tom. He assumed the medicine cat had just gone to check up on Spottedpelt.

Leopardflight crept towards the mouse, carefully avoiding any obstacles. He got an average jump away from the animal, much closer than he needed, before effortlessly pouncing and landing on the animal. It would have been easier to jump from further away, but that didn't seem fair. After all, Robinpaw didn't have abilities yet.

Leafheart looked up. "Oh, hello Robinpaw. I'm just tired from the excersise. I'll be heading back to camp soon." She said. She frowned. The rain was falling more heavily now. She hoped there wouldn't be a storm.

Pigeoncloud sighed. He was being ridiculous. He spun around and took one step forward, then his gaze landed on Pinetail. He flattened his ears to his head and turned back around. He wanted to talk to the medicine cat, but what if he just made things worse? He didn't know how Pinetail was feeling. Pigeoncloud gasped. The rain had gotten heavier and the clouds were quite dark. He wondered if it was actually his fault that it was raining. Well, of course it was, but he didn't want that to be the case. Pigeoncloud closed his eyes and breathed in and out, focusing completely on trying to make the weather return to normal.

She nodded. "Thank you, Pinetail." She said, watching the tom leave. She yawned. She wouldn't be much getting sleep once the kits were born, so she might as well do it all now...

The tom let out a purr, smiling at Sunpaw. "That is fantastic news. We will have to be sure to give them to Spottedpelt when the kits are coming. Thank you Sunpaw." He gave him a nod before continuing to his den.

Sitting down, he watched as his daughter got into a fighting stance. He couldn't help but feel proud of her as she was determined to work hard. The rain was falling harder, making bim feel concerned as the weather was becoming worse.

"Oh....well of course I got punished after you threw a fit like that. You acted like you wanted Shimmerstar to line your nest with my pelt or something. But it's not hard to catch a lizard." He said, thinking the question was asking how he caught it. "I just had to be patient and wait for one to come close enough for me to jump one."

"Oh. Did you want me to accompany you back to camp?" It was his polite way if asking if she wanted help. "I don't mind and I can catch prey on my way back here after we reach the cave."

Her gaze moved to the sky before she pinned her ears back as a raindrop hit her nose. "Why isn't it raining? Father didn't say anything about a storm."

Getting into a fighting stance, she made sure to keep her claws sheathed so she wouldn't scratch her leader. "Bring it!" She narrowed her eyes as her whole body tensed up as she got ready to try and defend herself.

Shimmerstar waved his tail, signalling he was going to attack. He smirked, remembering Halfpaw was only a new apprentice, and she would probably fall for easy tricks. He flicked his ear, wondering what he would do first. He supposed he couldn't be too hard on her, so he stared intensely at her left shoulder for a moment, then pounced at her right.

Barkfur blinked. That wasn't what he meant at all. "Sure thing." He murmured. He looked down at Sootpaw and realized she was right, it had started to rain. He didn't even notice it before, but now he waved his tail. It was definitely Pigeoncloud. He wanted to find out what was wrong, but he wasn't close enough to the shy tom for him to tell him his emotions. "Nevermind the rain, we have to patrol." He replied. He yawned and walked past Rabbittail towards the border. As he did, his tail brushed Rabbittail's cheek affectionately.

Hollyheart stood up and began to sort the herbs, putting the dead ones in a small pile next to her.

Hazelpaw watched her father carefully, spotting the exact moment he made his decision. She was quite surprised he had focused so much on Halfpaw's shoulder, only to attack the other. It was quite a good move, actually. Hazelpaw hadn't thought about tricking her enemies, just using brute force.

Sunpaw waved his tail farewell to Pinetail and padded over to the entrance of the cave. He was rather bored, but he supposed the patrols would be getting back soon.

Leopardflight sniffed the air, but scented nothing. He sighed softly and carefully padded around, trying to find something. He paused, smelling a faint rabbit scent. Fresh, though. He carefully walked towards it, smiling as the scent got stronger and stronger. He would beat Robinpaw easily.

Leafheart shook her head. The rain seemed to have gotten slightly better. "You have much to do. I can make it back to camp easily." She said, not wanting to waste Robinpaw's time. She had gotten out here, she could go back.

Pigeoncloud tensed as Pinetail neared him. He wondered what would happen. Would the tom attack him? Ignore him? Scream at him about how horrible he was? Pigeoncloud knew these were most likely, but he wanted Pinetail to sit next to him.

Spottedpelt rolled over in her nest. She felt cosy, but struggled to move with her belly weighing her down.

Noticing Pigeoncloud, he felt himself grow warm under his fur but ignored it. "Hello Pigeoncloud. I want you to meet me by the Pool of Wonder tonight at moonhigh." He said quietly as be passed. The tom then continued to his den, catching Hollyhearts scent in there. "I am glad you collected more herbs. I would hate to run out of anything."

Knowing the trick that Shimmerstar was going to use, he watched his daughter closely. She obviously didn't know the move was coming. He turned to Hazelpaw," Be sure to observe closely."

The tom stiffened in surprise when the tail brushed over his cheek. However, he caught Sootpaws eye and noticed the weird look on her face. Feeling embarrassed, he licked his chest fur before quickly bounding after Barkfur.

Her gaze watched the two curiously as she noticed Barkfurs tail brush over Rabbittails cheek. Were those two involved? Confused, she noticed Rabbittail act embarrassed before continuing on their route. Shaking her head in puzzlement, she let it go and merely followed.

Not expecting the attack, she barely managed to move back but tumbled a bit from the fast action. Landing on her stomach, she easily bounced back up. "That was brilliant! You totally tricked me!" Her eyes glazed with excitement. "I'll remember to watch out for that."

Shimmerstar smiled. "You have much to learn." He said. The tom raised his paw to distract Halfpaw and expose her belly, another trick he had once fallen for.

Barkfur got to the border and left a scent at the regular areas. He felt embarrassed about what he had done, as he had forgotten that Sootpaw was watching them.

Hollyheart looked up as Pinetail spoke. "I fear that the kits will not react well to the cold air, I don't want them getting ill." She explained, pointing at the Catmint. She had only just noticed that a few of the marigold plants were wilting, but they would at least last a few more days.

Hazelpaw nodded. The two stayed still for a moment and Hazelpaw wondered if that really did happen in battle. She smirked at the remark her father made, even though it was also true for herself. She tilted her head when he father raised his paw. Why? It was so obvious, Halfpaw would easily defend herself from that attack.

Leopardflight crouched, spotting the rabbit, who was looking around cautiously, but it hadn't noticed him. He knew it was too risky to get any closer and he wanted that prize to much to try and be fair. Leopardflight paused, waiting for the rabbit to look back down. Once it had, he pounced on the rabbit, digging his claws into it. It struggled wildly for a moment, before Leopardflight bit down on its neck, ending the creature's life.

Leafheart sighed and stood up. She purred as the rain almost completely cleared. It became brighter and the sun was definitely up there, but the clouds still covered the sky. She just didn't understand the weather today. Sighing, she walked back to camp. When she had finally gotten there, she mewed a greeting to Sunpaw but padded past him, going to sit by the elder's den. She glanced at her pelt and frowned. She hadn't realized it was so messy. Leafheart licked at her back, trying to tame the beast known as her pelt.

Pigeoncloud's fur rose. He urged to turn around and talk to Pinetail, but maybe cats would think they were acting strange. He forced himself to simply look out at the forest. He didn't understand. Why would Pinetail want to meet him? He sighed. He supposed he would be sent out for patrol soon, and after that he should take a nap if he would be up late.

"Good idea." It helped put his mind to ease a little knowing they would be prepared for when the kits came. "Kits are always the most vulnerable when it's cold like this." He commented. Sitting down, he lightly ran his tongue over his side a few times. "I think we should go and talk to our ancestors soon. I can't help but feel that something bad is going to happen." He pinned his ears back as he couldn't shake off the feeling and it was starting to bother him.

Watching the two, he was curious as to how this would play out. Halfpaw wasn't one to give up and she seemed to like play fighting more than Sootpaw did.

"The rain is finally letting up." He gave himself as shake as he had gotten wet from the rain but wasn't too bad. Looking back at Sootpaw, he felt bad as she was pretty wet and her fur was slicked to her sides, making her look even smaller. "Are you alright Sootpaw?"

He had gotten lucky as a squirrel had managed to fall out of a tree and he caught two more mice. Collecting his four pieces of prey, he decided to head back to where he had left the others to try and meet up. He wondered how well Leopardflight did and guessed that he had made sure to catch more than him.

Feeling rather cold as her fur was soaked, she looked up at Rabbittail and nodded. "I'm fine." She lied as she didn't want to let a little rain get to her. "We have a border to check after all." She said as she forced herself to keep going.

Seeing the paw, she decided to take action and swiftly darted forward. Using her smaller stature, she shot underneath him and spun around. She used to do this when Eaglewing had played with her and Sootpaw when they had been kits. She tried to jump onto Shimmerstars back, wrapping her paws around him.

Shimmerstar frowned. That normally worked. Halfpaw had forgotten Shimmerstar had a daughter himself, and this was a trick he was used to. He collapsed and rolled onto his back, crushing Halfpaw and freeing himself.

Barkfur nodded at Rabbittail's remark. He was glad it was getting better, he hated rain. It always took so long for his fur to dry.

Hollyheart shrugged. "Sure. How about we go tonight? The weather seems to be clearing up, so the stars should be shining." She murmured. It was good to go visit their ancestors when the stars were visible, unless it was urgent.

Hazelpaw blinked. Halfpaw had moved quite quickly, but she hadn't chosen a wise move. Hazelpaw was sure there weren't enough stars in the night sky to count the times she had done that move to her father, only to be crushed by him.

Leopardflight realized he was quite close to where Mapleheart and Foxpelt were supposed to be. He took his rabbit and collected his other prey, then headed towards the rest of his patrol. Once he had found them, he mewed a greeting to Mapleheart and Foxpelt. He smiled as Robinpaw padded into the clearing, sure he had won. Leopardflight froze. "We got the same amount of prey. Who gets the prize?" He asked, trying to sound like he didn't care who got it in the end.
