(Well it took me slightly longer then I thought it would have but looks like I've managed to get back on a reasonable sleep schedule. Sorry about that.
Ah, always fun when you have to completely change your sleep schedule for work. I hope that's not messing with you to horribly. )

Miles Walker
As soon as Miles opened the door, dark liquid flowed from the room and he realized that his worse fear was coming true. Cursing, he stepped into the room, and took in the sight before him. The liquid covered almost every surface around him and it only took seconds to find the source. Eyes widened at the sight of the burst pipe. It was totally destroyed, shattered so dramatically that there was no way this had happened in one moment. While he could barely see a thing under all the oily liquid, he knew that this was something that had likely been building over the course of a few days and should have been caught a lot sooner. He cursed himself for missing it and for making such a rookie mistake. He wanted to beat himself up over it more but knew that right now he had bigger things then that to worry about. He could feel guilty later but for now he actually needed to do his job and fix this. It took a moment for his brain to kick back into work mode and figure out what he needed to do. First was shutting the flow off so they didn't lose more oil. That would be an easy thing to do if he knew were his tablet was but it was now lost under a layer of oil so finding it would be impossible. He couldn't even recall where in general he had even left the thing. With little hope he moved to his work table and tried to find the thing but came up empty handed, the oil making it impossible to discern one thing from another. Cursing again, he turned when the door opened and the Captain stepped into the room, quickly followed by the Doctor. Well, at least they had followed like he hoped they would.
"A main pipe burst." He explained quickly, stepping over to them so they could hear him clearly. "Normally an automatic shut off would be initiated but I can't find my tablet so we have to go the manual route. I've taught you both how to do that but this will be a lot harder. In those cases, we didn't have this sort of pressure behind them so it's going to take two of us to do it."
He eyed the pair up before nodding the Captain. He appeared the be the stronger of the two on a quick inspection, he would apologize to the Doctor later if that proved not the be the case.
"Captain, your with me on the manual shut off. Doctor, see what you can do about finding the tablet. Should you find it, begin the automatic shut off system, you should be able to figure out how to use it. Just follow to prompts." Miles knew he was talking fast but every second counted and they couldn't afford to wait any longer at this rate. Every second they weren't doing something was a second they were risking serious engine damage.
"Got it? Good." He nodded, before waving for the Captain to follow him towards the manual shut off, being careful to watch were he stepped on the slick floor.
"When we get to the valve, its not going to be easy to fight this sort of pressure to close it off." He glanced at the Captain. "I'll settle for a partial shut off at this point, we just need to slow this stuff down quickly."

Zed Kassman
When the Captain overtook him in the stairwell, he huffed but continued his way down the room. He hit the bottom of the stairs and headed down the corridor he knew by heart now, the door coming into view just as the Captain stepped through it. Picking up his pace, Zed ran the last of the way, barely stopping to eye the strange puddle that was growing in size by the second outside the door before entering. The scene before him was like nothing he had ever seen before and it left him in a momentary state of shock. The room looked nothing like he remembered it looking from the many times he had been in there. It was impossible to really tell what anything was, it was all covered in a black film of what looked oily and slick. It was unpleasant to look at as he pulled up beside the Captain unsure of where to even start. The noise was just as loud and impossible to ignore but even he could tell there was a new hissing noise in the air that wasn't there usually. He didn't have the Engineers ability to tell all the noises apart but he could tell that this new noise probably didn't mean anything good. His fear was confirmed when the Engineer appeared, already covered in splatters of the dark liquid, and explained in quick words that a pipe had burst. Zed's eyes widened, wondering how that could even happen so suddenly but he didn't get a chance to ask before he was given a task. He wasn't sure how he was supposed to find the missing tablet under all this black liquid but he nodded his head and moved off to start his search. He figured the work desk was the best place to start even thought the Engineer had come from that direction. That task quickly proved to be nearly impossible as attempting the removed the liquid only resulted in more replacing it from the spray. Still, Zed did his best to search out anything that was remotely tablet sized, hoping for a miracle and that he could actually figure out the unexplained system that he would have to use.

(Glad to hear your sleep schedule is back on track- mine is getting betterish. Still getting up earlier than I'd like, but at least I'm awake to go to work in the mornings. My plants are adjusting to their new home too- some of them are doing well, while others are grumbling but they're working things out. I got the garden planted with watermelon and corn, but one of the watermelon plants died already and the others weren't looking so happy the last time I checked on them so we'll see where it goes! Anything new/fun on your end?)

Captain Tubon
Tripp looked up sharply when he saw movement coming towards him- the engineer already appeared to have a slight oily coating on himself despite entering the room a few moments before Tripp had. The smell of the machinery was thick in his nose and he scrunched his face slightly, not overly enthused by the odor and the thought of getting covered in it- he knew just how well things like this would take to get out of his hair, skin, and clothing. Still, there was a job to do, and standing around wasn't helping anything. He stepped closer as Mr. Walker began to speak, making sure he caught every word. Their job would be to shut off the valve, or at least make an attempt to lessen the amount of fluid flowing from the pipe while the doctor found the tablet to turn the flow off. Tripp nodded, not particularly wanting to get oil in his mouth, and followed Mr. Walker back through the maze of machinery and pipes towards the source of the problem. He did his best to keep up with Mr. Walker, not understanding how the other man was managing to keep up such a quick pace with such slick footing. Tripp slipped multiple times but was able to catch himself with the numerous pipes that acted as slick handholds to prevent him from falling completely. Once, his right foot shot out from underneath him, nearly sending him into the engineer's back as he struggled to keep up with him. Finally, the two men were at the burst pipe, and the hissing noise as the oil escaped from it was so loud Tripp doubted that Mr. Walker would be able to hear him if he put a speaker to his ear. He saw the valve further up the pipe before it had burst, and slid his way over to it- he wasn't fond of the idea of picking his feet up at this point, and his boots were in at least an inch of the slick fluid that had pooled around the break. He tried to grip the valve to turn it, but between the oily film that seemed to be over everything in the engine room and his hands that were also coated in it, Tripp wasn't able to get a grip. He looked back at Mr. Walker for guidance, not coming up with anything that they could do.

Eric Henson
Eric kept a watchful eye on the power readings from the engines- noting dropping levels in the main engine that they used for their propulsion. He pulled up a checklist for this kind of emergency, and was pleased to see that he had performed most of the steps from memory. All of the important ones had been completed to preserve power, but there were a few other minor systems that he had missed, and he hurriedly shut those down as well. He hoped the main engine wouldn't be offline for too long- that was where most of the power was generated for the ship as well as what they used to power the engines. While the other, smaller engines served as backups, they wouldn't be able to generate enough power to slow them down for a while. Eric quickly ran some calculations to determine the maximum power output from the backup engines, how much of it would be taken up by powering life support and other essential systems, and then what would be available if those essential systems were run at seventy five percent power. The preliminary figures were not good- it'd take them at least five days to come to a complete stop in space, if they dipped into the energy available for the essential systems. If they didn't stop at the Pyxis, then it would take them over a month to get back to Jupiter station if they couldn't get the main engine back online. Eric felt a chill, but slowly thought his way through the problem. They were a rescue ship- there would be spare parts for their engine as well as a number of different ones. While he didn't know Miles very well, he did get enough of a sense that he was fairly confident in his abilities, and Eric hoped that he'd be able to get a replacement part put together or do something to at least have the main engine operating again, not necessarily at peak efficiency, but generating more power than the backup engines would be able to provide. If they were going to be out here for a while, they would need food. Eric pulled up a summary of the stores, and was relieved to find that there were three weeks of provisions stored away for each member of the Corvus' crew as well as each member of the Pyxis' crew, so if the crew of the Pyxis wasn't still...there, then they'd have more than enough to eat if Miles wasn't able to jury-rig something to get them home a little faster. Eric leaned forwards over his station, working out different variables and flight plans for hypothetical situations based around differing engine power outputs, anticipating many questions about how soon they'd be able to get back, and he wanted to be prepared.

(I'm glad as well, not sleeping makes it sort of hard to get anything productive done. I'm glad yours has gotten better as well and hopefully your plants pull through!
Not a whole lot at the moment. My dnd crew has started up a new campaign so that's been a lot of fun. Other then that I've just been spending time down at the beach with my friends and enjoying the summer.
I meant to answer yesterday but the new season of Voltron, and rewatching the other seasons with my friend who just picked it up, ate away my day haha . Have you seen it yet?
Well, I didn't plan for Zed to actually find the tablet but you managed to stump me on how they would deal with the manual valve being covered in oil. I mean I managed to think of a few things but nothing that would have actually made any sort of sense haha. Welp, good thing I set up a second way of dealing with the problem)

Miles Walker
The floor was far more slippery then Miles had thought it would be and he regretted setting such a fast pace. While he was able to remain upright and sure footed, it was clear that the Captain did not share his ability or luck as he slipped around a lot more. Almost every time he looked back to check on the man, he seemed to be slipping or struggling to stand back up after catching himself on a pipe. In any other situation, Miles would have slowed his pace to accommodate the man but right now he couldn't do that so he made a note to apologize for it later and continued on once the Captain was back on his feet.
By the time they reached the pipe again, the noise had grown into a roar, deafening even Miles. He crinkled his nose at the loud noise, disliking that he couldn't hear a single thing over it at all. It seemed unnatural to him to only hear one noise in the room instead of many. Shaking the unsettling nature of the noise off, he went with the Captain to the valve. Eyeing the part as they got closer, praying it would still be in working order. They would be in a lot of trouble if the valve was also broken.
The Captain seemed to have figured out the best way to move since he didn't slip again on the way over. That was good, since there was a lot more of the liquid here and falling in it probably had a lot of health risks.
Once they were in front of the valve, Miles was pleased to see it was still in working order but his delight was quickly dashed when the Captains attempt to grip the valve failed. He hadn't accounted for the valve being slippery or the fact that they were also coated in the oily liquid.
He cursed under his breath at the man looked to him for an answer of what they could do. The problem was, he didn't have a real answer to this problem. Everything was coated in the film so there was nothing in here they could actually use to get a better grip and anything they brought in would only get soaked before they could use it. It seemed that closing the valve manually was a dead end unless they could come up with a way to grip the valve.
He shook his head to convey that he didn't have an answer at that moment to the Captain before going back to racketing his brain for something they could possibly do.

Zed Kassman
It became pretty clear after a few minutes of searching that the tablet wasn't on the cluttered table. There had been a few different parts that were roughly the right size but all ended up being different parts that Zed couldn't name even if he tried. Pushing away from the work table, Zed tried to figure out where the Engineer might have left the thing. He was aware that the Engineers thought process tended to be a bit scattered at times when he got working but he usually kept the Tablet near the door since he didn't like carrying it around deeper in the room and seemed to have an uncanny ability to hear the sound of messages over the constant engine noises. As long as the man had held that pattern, the tablet should be around this area somewhere, it was just a matter of finding where he dropped it last. They were going to need to have a serious talk about keeping the work space down here tidy so this didn't happen again.
With no real idea where he might have left it besides the slightly narrowed idea that it had to be in this general area, Zed started looking around the piles of boxes that littered the space. If one thing annoyed him about the engine room it would be the clutter, it made everything a lot more complicated then it needed to be. Like trying to find a tablet.
Grumbling to himself, Zed pushed a few of the boxes around, the movement made easier by the slick floor. He found nothing around the first few that he search. He even went as far as to look inside them, not putting anything past the strange Engineer at this point. When it was clear that the tablet hadn't been left near the first set of boxes, he moved onto the next and repeated the process, coming up with nothing. The small bit of hope he had that Mr. Walker had left the tablet here started to falter until he shoved one particular box and something slide off the top and onto the floor with a bang. Frowning, Zed reached down and picked up the device and attempted to wipe off the oil that covered it surface and had made it difficult to see before. His eyes lit up when he realized it was the tablet, though with a few more scratches and a spider web of cracks across its surface then it had had before. It still seemed to work which he was glad for as he quickly booted it up and started searching for what he was supposed to find. An alert popped up in the corner and while he didn't understand half the words it said, he gathered that it was what he was supposed to follow so he clicked it. It lead him to a screen that seemed to have the engine layout of the engine on it and a bright red spot on the otherwise blue screen drew his eye. He tapped it and it brought up another screen that seemed to be talking about the estimated damage and recommended course of action. Again, Zed had no real clue what he was reading but when he saw the button labeled shut down, he tapped it without a second thought, hoping he hadn't just made things worse by doing so.

(Glad to hear you're getting some time to spend with friends! Unfortunately I have to stay in this weekend and study for my fifth license- I wasn't anticipating on having another test so soon after I finished up school! Sorry about them not being able to get a grip on the valve- I was thinking that they could try to get their hands around it with some cloth- I think I'll have Tripp go with the old tried and true captain kirk method haha. I haven't seen the new season yet but I'm working up to it- I just finished up rewatching the first through third seasons and once I finish the others I'll work on the next one too! I'm really excited to see where it goes but something tells me I'll have a hard time avoiding spoilers unless I remove myself from some of my more frequented websites. Oh well, I'm hoping to get to it this weekend- I'll be sure to let you know once I've finished it so we can talk about it!)

Captain Tubon
Trying to think, Tripp readjusted his grip on the slick surface, trying to get any kind of leverage or force on it. What he needed was something that wasn't completely soaked with oil. He looked around, realizing that the only things that weren't fully slicked down were himself and Mr. Walker. He rubbed his hands on his pants, cleaning them off a bit, before pulling off his jacket, using it to wrap around the valve handle to get a better grip. His jacket was too slick to get a good grasp on the valve, but he found it had been soaked by his time in the room, and any attempt to grip it simply squeezed oil from his jacket. Tripp stripped off his shirt next, and was able to get a slightly better grip on the valve, just as the hissing noise diminished. He blinked, turning to the break in the pipe just as the the oil stopped flowing out from it. The noise in the room dropped dramatically, down to a point where it was much quieter than he'd ever noticed in all of the time he'd actually been in the engine room. He looked around, and noticed with a sinking feeling that the main engine was off. There was still the hum of the smaller engines in the background making noise, but it wasn't nearly as deafening as when the main engine was on. Tripp had a sinking feeling and wondered how much energy they were capable of producing now that it was offline. He turned back to face Mr. Walker, but the sinking feeling remained. Something wasn't going to end well with this. He examined his shirt in his hands and found a cleanish part of it to wipe his face off. Tripp surveyed the engine room, now covered in a thick layer of oil and sighed. They had work to do. Tripp leaned up against the pipe and looked at Mr. Walker. "Guess we have a little work to do." He said, tiredly injecting a humorous undertone to his words.

Eric Henson
Eric continued to focus on his work of alternate courses with different variables, but he was pleased to see from what information he was able to see from his station that the main engine was completely shut down now- that would help them conserve whatever was creating that odd colored mist on the engine room cameras. He was running a few alternate courses through the computer right now, focusing on establishing varying increments of power at different times in their journey, breaking the different courses into halves, quarters, fifths, and tenths of power. Anything further than that and he'd be here another week trying to get all of the little adjustments and courses fine tuned, but at least with these it would allow them to combine different pre-planned courses as they made their way back home, and would also allow him to give the crew accurate measurements of time and distance they were away from their two objectives- the Phyxis and Jupiter Station.

(Haha, that's basically all I do besides work, which is nice since I didn't get to see them all very often during the last semester since we were all dying under mountains of school work. That sounds like it sucks, especially this close to when school ended, but I hope you do well :)
Wow...I'm slightly annoyed at myself for not thinking of that. Ah well, no worries, it worked out and now for an engine to basically explode because they really can't catch a break today. Do you think they should fix the pipe and when they go to turn the main engine back on the debris in the engine makes itself known or do you have a different idea of how this should go down?)

Miles Walker
Miles raised an eyebrow when the captain pulled off his jacket but quickly clued into what he was doing. It was a good idea but it quickly became apparent that the jacket was just as coated as everything else which meant it was useless to them as a solution. That didn't seem to deter the Captain at all since the next thing Miles knew, the man was striping off his shirt to use that instead and Miles would have applauded his quick thinking if he thought he could hear it over all the noise. He stepped up to help with the valve but stalled when he heard the hissing start to lessen and the flow of oil coming from the pipe diminished. Within a few seconds the flow had stopped all together and the engine room fell into near silence, the hum of the smaller engines being the only noise filling the room. In any other circumstances, Miles might have cheered for the victory they had won but there was no real victory here. The main engine was down which meant they were working with only the smaller engines at the moment. While those engines were perfect for life support and basic ship functions, they wouldn't be enough to actually run the thrusters long term.
He sighed, resisting the urge to run his fingers through his hair as he surveyed the room and the oil that covered everything before looking back at the Captain as he spoke. A small laugh left him at the understatement of his words.
"Just a little." He agreed with a nod, glancing back to the burst pipe now that he could really see the damage done.
It was clear without doing a closer inspection that the pipe wouldn't be salvageable, the break running the entire length of the pipe. No, they were going to need to replace it with something, hopefully they had a spare part that would fit or even better, the exact part he needed. However, Miles doubted they would get that lucky which meant they were going to have to use something makeshift and hope it held long enough to get them to the Phyxis and back.
"We should head back and see if we can find a part to fix this, clean up can happen later. Right now fixing that pipe and getting the main engine back up is the main priority before we end up floating to off course." He said with a long breath not wanting to think about what might happen if they floated to far. Eric was an excellent pilot but without the main engine, there was only so much he was going to be able to do in order to keep them going the right way. Hopefully he could manage a bit longer until they got the darn thing fixed and running again. A few hours was all they would need as long as nothing else went horribly wrong. He groaned at that, realizing he had probably just jinxed the whole thing now. Today really wasn't turning out to be a good day at all.

Zed Kassman
Waiting to see if he had made the situation worse was terrifying. When nothing seemed to blow up deeper in the room, Zed let out the breath he had been holding and let his posture relax a little. That was good then, that mean that the flow of oil was slowing down right? He had no idea if he had actually done what he was supposed to but by the lowering sound level, he could only assume he had done something right or the others had managed to get the valve shut without him. In the long run, it didn't really matter, as long as the oil was stopped and they could actually fix the break. He hoped it was an easy fix since even he knew that the engine room being this quiet was not a good sign in the long run. It was actually a little creepy to have the usually loud room be this quiet. Zed wasn't a fan of it at all though he never thought he would actually prefer the ear splitting noise over quiet hums.

(Shoot sorry for not getting back to you, it looks like my reply didn't post! I like your idea of them thinking the only thing wrong with the pipe is the break, at least at first, and then when they try to turn it on it results in awful grinding noises and a need to replace some of the internal components of the main engine as a result of the debris causing damage- sound good? Any other additional suggestions/ideas?)

Captain Tubon
Tripp nodded sharply and set off in the direction they had come from, intending to search through the boxes to see if he could find anything resembling the pipe that had burst. He had gotten a good look at the break- it was in a tricky section where the pipe actually joined up with another one, and it looked like a weak weld had split open under the pressure and sheared some bolts off as it had started to release from the adjoining pipe. The other one seemed okay, but Tripp would leave that determination to Mr. Walker. What he needed to find was a new pipe and some new bolts. He took a few determined steps back towards the boxes, but his feet promptly skidded out from underneath him and he reached out with his hands, grabbing onto one small pipe only for it to slip out of his grasp with it's oily slime. Tripp fell to the ground, skidding a few feet before bumping against a support for the main engine. He gingerly held up his other hand, which had been grasping his relatively clean t-shirt, but now the previously spotted white and brown material was dripping oil. Tripp felt frustration rising and an urge to kick the pipe manifested itself for a few moments before he refocused on the task at hand. Look at what he could do, not everything that he couldn't. Tripp slowly drew himself back up to his feet, cautiously using the slippery metal supports to prop himself up into a standing position before going back towards the supply crates at a much slower rate. After he had managed to work himself down the rest of the walkway out into the main area, he looked over his shoulder, trying to find Mr. Walker. "Any idea where we should start looking?" He asked, turning his head as he looked around the edges of the room which were lined with supply boxes, and a somewhat disgruntled looking oily doctor.

Eric Henson
Eric glanced between his calculations for the return trips and the monitor in the engineering room- the figures had seemed to be moving around less frantically now, although the lens of the camera was still covered in some sort of brownish smear. He hoped that whatever had happened it was repairable, as with the stresses of the previous week and current tensions, they would be in for a rough ride. Wanting to figure out what was going on, he keyed up the speaker system in the engineering room. "When you guys have a second, could you please go over to the intercom panel or use one of your tablets to fill me in? I'm recalculating courses now but it would be helpful to know what went wrong and how soon we'll have main engine power back online." He said, taking his finger off the button and waited for a response for a few moments before switching back to his calculations.

(No worries, it happens sometimes :)
I like the sound of that. Something internal would definitely go with debris floating around causing damage. Maybe it will be hard to figure out exactly where the damage is since its all internal which will put the main engine down totally? That way there is absolutely no chance of them fixing it anytime soon after getting sucked into the wormhole (Really fixing an engine will be the least of their concerns by that point but no way am I making this easy for them) )

Miles Walker
Hanging back for a moment when the Captain started back towards the main area of the room, Miles searched for any more damage. It was difficult to look through all the oil that coated everything but after a bit of feeling around and some guess work, he managed to come to the conclusion that nothing else had been seriously damaged by the burst. They had gotten lucky there.
Shaking his head, he turned and started making his own way back towards the main area, planning to help with the search for the necessary parts they needed. He really hoped they had them somewhere and cursed himself for not finishing his inventory sooner. That would have saved them a lot of trouble now.
The trip back was slower then he would have liked but it saved him from taking any bad tumbles. He surveyed the space with a long sigh. This was going to be a real pain to clean up. He shot the Doctor a smile and thumps ups for figuring out the tablet system but saved the verbal praise for later since now really wasn't the time. Plus he wasn't sure the man would appreciate it that much anyways. Instead his attention snapped to the Captain before moving over to look at the amount of boxes they had to go through, trying to think of a way to narrow down the search.
"I don't remember ever coming across the parts we need while doing inventory so it wont be near the far end." He pointed towards the far end of the lined up boxes. "So if by some miracle we have the part, it will by at the end closes to me or the middle. Nothing is labelled of course so we have to open every box and hope we get lucky."
He knew that wouldn't instill much confidence or give them a great starting point but it was better then nothing honestly. Miles was going to need to go through ever box when they had downtime and label everything so this would be easier next time, why hadn't he thought to do that before? Shaking his head, he put it down to being overwhelmed with the newness of working on the ship and left it at that.
He was about to take a step towards the boxes to help search when the intercom crackled to life and Eric's voice rang out. Miles was actually surprised the thing still worked considering everything else had gone wrong today already. Changing course, he headed over the the intercom panel since this would be easier to explain verbally rather then through the tablet.
After nearly slipping again, he steadied himself by the wall and hit the button.
"Hey, it's Miles. It looks like one of the main intact pipes for the main engine burst, probably due to a faulty or weak weld from the looks of the damage. We've shut the flow of oil off so we don't lose anymore but it could be a while before we get the engine back up and running. Finding the parts is going to be a chore but hopefully we get lucky. As long as nothing else goes wrong, the engine should be up in maybe three hours? Two if we find the part quickly."
It wasn't a great estimate since there were a lot of variables to consider but it was the best he could give Eric at the moment. Hopefully it wouldn't do to much damage to have the main engine down that long but he would have to leave that call up the the Pilot since he knew more about it then Miles did.

Zed Kassman
Unsure of whether he should go in the direction the other two had run off earlier or stay put now that the problem appeared to be dealt with, Zed decided staying put was the best plan. The Captain and Engineer would eventually have to come back here for parts or tools or whatever they needed and it was better that he wait instead of getting lost since he still didn't really know his way around. This place was a maze and Zed was not a fan of mazes so he preferred to stay in the slightly more open area of the engine room when possible. He knew it wouldn't always be and eventually he was going to have to figure out a mental map of the room but for now he was fine staying where he was.
His prediction turned out to be true when the Captain appeared from deeper in the room, looking worse for wear and maybe a bit frustrated. Zed couldn't really blame him considering what they were trying to walk on at the moment. He was irritated at having to walk around on the oily floor as well and he didn't have to go nearly as far as the Captain and Mr. Walker had.
Speaking of Mr. Walker, the Engineer appeared not long after the Captain did, looking equally coated in oil and more then a little annoyed with the state of the room. The Engineer was by no means a clean freak from what Zed had gathered but even he seemed to have standards for his work space.
The smile in his direction and thumbs up were noted but dismissed with a nod in favor of beginning the search through the boxes that Mr. Walker had indicated could contain the parts they were looking for. It was a little concerning that nothing was labelled and there seemed to be the possibility they wouldn't even find what they were looking for in the boxes. What they were supposed to do at that point Zed had no idea but hopefully the Engineer had a plan in mind for that.

(I like that idea- Miles would have to take apart the entire engine to find the broken and damaged parts that need to be replaced!)

Captain Tubon
Tripp glanced between the two men and decided to work his way over to the far corner of the room as Dr. Kassman started heading towards the boxes and the engineer to the speaker. He didn't want to seem like an ominous, hovering presence, and he could feel a storm cloud gathering over his head. Tripp was getting frustrated with little things now- the long, careful walk over to the far corner, the first box he tried to move slipping out of his hands, his discarded dirty shirt and jacket in a pile on the floor. He slid slowly over the fallen box, popping the latches and took a quick look inside- not the pipe or the bolts. He closed it again, making sure to secure the latches. No point in getting more oil everywhere. Tripp settled into a methodically slow rhythm that was somewhat helped by the oil- finding a box, popping the latches to check it, and then sliding it into a pile on the other side of the somewhat narrow walkway. As he worked, Tripp tried to think through his feelings. He was frustrated because things were going wrong. His crew wasn't happy with him or how he had been running things. Part of that was expected with the extreme shifts they'd had to pull, but another part of it was because he was doing something wrong. Passage of information was a key point that had been brought up, but he was a military captain. He wasn't allowed to pass on classified information to crew who didn't need to know it. Tripp paused, focusing on that thought for a few moments. His crew had needed to know some of the information to do their jobs appropriately, but Tripp had simply shut them out. He hadn't done a good job identifying the needs of his crew to prepare for their expedition, and that had led to many of the growing frustrations. On a bigger ship it was easy to simply forward the information to a section head who had the appropriate clearance, who would filter down the necessary information, but he wasn't giving orders to section heads anymore. He was giving orders directly to the crew. Tripp mulled over these thoughts, working on what he could try to do better to help improve the outcome of this trip and his relationship with his crew.

Eric Henson
Eric nearly sagged in relief, setting aside his more drastic plans and started working on a plan that assumed the engine would be repaired in 3 hours, hopefully giving Miles the time he and the other two crew would need to get everything back up and running again. "Got it, thank you." He said, hesitating as he almost removed his finger from the communications button. "Good luck." He said, before turning back to his flight plans. It sure beat the idea of being stuck out here for weeks, especially with tensions as high as they'd been recently. Despite Miles' words, Eric didn't set aside the other plans quite yet, and he saved them in case they would need them later. Eric hoped that wouldn't be the case, but there were reasons for the redundancies the military and their pilots had. Eric paged back to the mostly completed flight plans, labeling them appropriately in their titles. It had only taken one crew for the military to realize that pilots were essential to the safe flight of their ships, regardless of whatever autopilots were installed, a human was needed to call the shots and man the controls. Eric forcibly redirected his thoughts back to the task at hand, adjusting his calculations now for lower than optimal oil levels. Judging by the shiny film that covered the camera lens and the overall hue of brown on the screen in the engine room, he judged that they had lost a significant amount of their oil. While there was enough for two or so complete refills of the engine system stored on the ship, future problems with the ship's engine or another leak caused by the stress from this incident could increase the oil consumption of the main engine or result in another burst pipe. They would have to be careful.

(Alright cool :) We can go with that then. Not sure if someone should find the parts they need or if we should force them to makeshift something? Thought?
Also sorry this is super short haha. I've been basically out of the house all day and this was pretty much the only time I had home before running out again, but I wanted to get something out, sorry again!)

Miles Walker
"Thanks." Miles said, removing his finger from the panel and turning back to the mess of a engine room. They were going to need all the luck they could get at this point. There was a lot to get through and now he had given them a deadline to meet which only added more stress to the already stressful situation. Hopefully they would find what they needed to find quick enough but he had to plan for the possibility that they wouldn't find what they needed. In that case, they would have to make something that would act as a temporary fix which was dangerous and might end up causing a lot more trouble then anything else. Sighing, he rubbed his face again.
"Anything yet?" He asked, moving to search another area of boxes that neither the Captain or Zed had gotten to yet.
It took more effort then it should have to move across the slippery floor which didn't help improve his mood at all. Doing his best to shake off the feeling of frustration and stress, he popped the lack on a box and looked inside. A quick glance was enough to realize it wasn't the part he was looking for so he closed it and moved onto the next box. That one didn't have the part he needed either, nor did the next two. Taking a deep breath, he paused for a moment so he didn't start throwing things around out of frustration. That would only make things worse and probably do little to boost the already terrible atmosphere in the room.
After another deep breath, Miles shook out his head and went back to digging through boxes but lost confidence quick when none of them had what they were looking for.
"This might be pointless." He grumbled to himself, rubbing at his face again and wondering again if he should just call it and move on to the back up plan. It would be better then just wasting time looking for a part they didn't even know if they would find, right? Sure, it was more dangerous and had a higher probability of repeating the same event that had just occurred on a bigger scale but the probability wasn't unreasonably high. At the end of the day it might be the better option and he knew it was his call to make at the end of the day, he just didn't know if he was willing to make it just yet. Maybe a few more minutes of them searching would be enough to decide it for him? He really didn't know at this point and it was starting to bug him.

Zed Kassman
The oil was starting to become even more of a nuisance when Zed tried to move around and open up the boxes of parts. Almost every move had him nearly flat on his back because he slipped or lost his footing. It was getting to the point where he was ready to just call it and start cleaning up he mess instead of looking for the parts just so that they wouldn't have to slide around anymore. Of course, he knew that having all three of them looking was better then just two so he kept searching. He had less of an idea of what he was looking for but he had seen the part on the tablet so he had a vague idea in his head what to look for. Still, he was careful to inspect each box closely so he didn't accidentally miss the part.
"Nothing yet." He called back when Mr. Walker asked if they had found anything, unable to keep the slight bit of annoyance out of his voice over the matter. The pile of negative boxes was growing and no one had found anything yet which wasn't a good sign as far as he could tell. The curiosity about what they would do if they couldn't find the part was growing with each rejected box but he held his tongue, since one look at the Engineer had him sure he would be snapped at if he did ask. The man looked frustrated but then again so did the Captain upon closer inspection. Zed couldn't say he was surprised, he also felt annoyed and frustrated with the state of things and since tensions were already running high from the meeting before, there was no telling how anyone would react to anything at this point.

(Uhh either or, depends on how much we want them to be disappointed when they realize that wasn't the only problem with the engine. Above we mentioned that it would take 2-3 hours, perhaps they find one of the parts and Miles begins to take the main pipe apart while Zed and Tripp keep looking for the second part? Additionally, oil can slow things down a bit.

And no worries, I always feel bad for taking so long to respond at times, trying to get better at it, but now that I'm back home things should be a bit better instead of traveling and seeing folks for the holiday. Sorry if it's a little short too- I realized how long I've kept you waiting and I'd rather give you something rather than make you wait longer!)

Captain Tubon
Tripp shook his head at the engineer's question. Nothing interesting in the boxes yet. He kept up with his methodical routine, checking the boxes and sliding them around and out of his way when he was done with them. After he got through the first layer of boxes on his 'side' of the wall, he started digging into the second stack. His eyes were drawn to a oddly shaped box, and he worked it free from underneath a couple others, sending them sliding to the ground with clangs. He popped the latches and inside there was some of the things they needed- it looked like replacements for bolts that had been sheared off when the pipe had burst. "Mr. Walker, come take a look at these, are these the new bolts we'll need for the new pipe once we find it?" He asked, slowly making his way over to the engineer. He realized that his voice had interrupted Mr. Walker from talking to himself, slightly concerned. Was this just a normal coping mechanism or a sign of greater mental distress? Tripp attempted to slide to a stop, but instead his feet slid out from underneath him, and coupled with his now top heavy body, the captain managed to send his legs in opposite directions before falling over, holding the closed box tight to his chest. He quickly picked himself off of the ground, using the box placed on the floor as a way to right himself, before giving up on the attempt to make it over to the engineer and simply slid the box towards him.

Eric Henson
Eric worked quickly through the new flight plan, assuming repairs were mostly competed by three hours out and a reduced engine efficiency of 90% to be on the safe side. Once that was finished, he created a few additional ones with differing start times as well as varying engine efficiencies, finding that most of them were similar enough that the work went quickly. He found himself sitting in the chair and tapping on the screen in front of him with no purpose. He wanted to do something to help get the ship moving, but without a copilot he was stuck, quite literally, in this and the recreational room. Eric mulled over the different things he could do to help, and short of physically being in the engineering room, there wasn't much. The best thing he could come up with was a motivational and rewarding treat for the rest of the crew once they had finished working in engineering. Slowly, a plan began to form in his head. He pushed away from his station and ran into the kitchen area, beginning to rifle through the cabinets and pull out ingredients.
