(Welcome back! Don't worry about it, I know how stressful finals time can be. Did they go well? )

Miles Walker
It was a bit amusing to watch the Captain struggle with the bolts but Miles kept that to himself not wanting to risk the Captain anger or annoyance. Plus it would be a bit rude to laugh at a man who was only just learning and he did get it eventually once he figured out what worked best for him. Miles was actually a bit impressed that he figured it out so quick. If the man ever wanted another career, he could probably be an engineer. A laugh nearly left his mouth at the thought but he bit it back. He doubted a man would ever want to give up the position of Captain to work on engines. That would be a terrible career move.
"Now we get to hit things with a hammer." Miles grinned, producing a small hammer from his tool box and holding it out. "The pipes are sealed together with grease so a few taps with the hammer on the upper pipe should pope them apart, Be gentle, light taps."
He pointed out the best spot to tap the pipe to get them apart and pulled back, letting the Captain figure out what worked best for him. He just hoped that he didn't do any damage to the pipes, that would give them more work.

Zed Kassman
Zed waited patiently while the pilot decided where he wanted his plants. He was quite done with running around for other people and wanted to get back to his solitude sooner rather then later. There was still learning the engineers job to come at some point but he figured he could spend some time on his own until he was requested back down in the engine room. Who knew how long that could be and he didn't really want to waste the time. He hummed and nodded when the pilot said he wanted his plants in the common room. That seemed like a logical place to put them since many appeared to be food plant of some kind, berries and fruit it seemed from what he could tell. His knowledge of plants was basic at the very best so he didn't bother to look any closer at them.
"Will do." He said, turning the cart around and leaving the room without another word to the pilot. There was really nothing else to say to the man at that point since they had hit a stalemate. It probably wouldn't stay that way for long and Zed could admit the pilot did have the upper hand at the moment after that stunt he just pulled. That wasn't something Zed liked very much but he was going to have to live with it for the time being. Huffing a little, he pushed the cart down to the common area, dropping the plants and cart off where he had been told before heading back to his quarters to actually relax a little before he was called to get lessons from the engineer.

(Thank you! They actually did- I wound up with a 3.89 for the semester and got on the dean's list again :) now all there is left to do is graduation this weekend!)

Captain Tubon
Tripp looked sharply back at Mr. Walker at his suggestion, but quickly realized that he was serious instead of making a joke. As the engineer explained, he finally understood that they were trying to loosen it, rather than make a dent or two in it per his first assumption. "I thought we were going to be doing something else from your manner of speech." He said with a quiet chuckle that he was sure was lost to the noise of the engine room. He took the hammer from Mr. Walker, finding it surprisingly dense and heavy despite its' small size, and gave a few experimental taps at the area that the engineer had indicated. Not wanting to actually put a dent in the pipe, he used his free hand to wiggle the pipe as he worked, pausing to test it every two to three taps on the pipe. Finally, the pipe came loose, and Tripp dropped the hammer as he scrambled to support it and prevent it from falling. The hammer narrowly avoided his boot, falling to the floor with a loud clang that was audible over the noise of the engines. "So now what?" He asked, voice strained as he lowered the heavy section of the pipe to the floor.

Eric Henson
Eric leaned forwards and squinted in confusion at the results of his search. Besides the voyager mission, the only other ship that had been through this region of space was the...Pyxis? The name of the ship rang a bell somewhere, but it was a vague, distant memory from a long time ago. Something about the ship held some importance though, and he did some digging. The date of the ship being in that location was eight years ago, which would have made him a child in the Americas colony on Mars. He tried to remember as he sorted through information on the ship, pulling up a crew manifest and information about the ship. The crew didn't stand out to him, but the destination did- a star outside of their solar system. Eric remembered where he'd learned about the ship now- in one of his classes where they launched the first colony ships destined for stars outside of their own solar system. The realization sent a chill down his spine- if that ship out there was the Pyxis, what was she doing back in their solar system?

(Awesome! I'm glad they went so well, all that studying paid off it seems.)

Miles Walker
A snort of laughter left Miles's lips at the Captains words. That had been a mistake on his part but at leas the man took it in stride. For that reason he didn't bother apologizing for it. In a normal situation he wouldn't have even thought about apologizing for the mistake in phrasing but since it was the Captain he almost did.
Shaking it off, he watched the Captain work. He seemed hesitant to hit the pipe which Miles could understand. He had warned him against hitting them to hard and the man was taking those warnings to heart. That was a good thing, even if it did slow down the process a little more then he would have liked. It took him reminding himself that the man was still learning to keep from pointing out how long it was taking him. His caution was probably for the best anyways. Miles didn't want to have to replace a pipe right now, it was to much of a pain.
Another snort of laughter left him when the Captain scrambled to catch the pipe, losing the hammer in the process. It was only a little funny to watch the man struggle with the heavy pipe and he felt a little guilty for not warning him ahead of time that they were a lot heavier then they looked. Taking pity on the man, he helped him lower it the last little ways to the floor before picking up the hammer and tossing it back to the tool box. It clattered against the other tools and he sent a silent apology their way for the harsh treatment.
"Now that we can see inside, we inspect for anything clogging the pipes. In this case, we know the 'clog' is located in this section specifically but there will be cases that you have no idea where it is in the line. Those are more tricky and take practice to figure out where to take the pipes apart. For now we will just worry about localized clogs like this one would be. So take a look, use a flashlight if you want, and see if you can see anything in the pipes blocking the way." He offered a flashlight to the man from his belt, knowing the pipes would be dark and difficult to see down. The angle wouldn't help matters but it was good practice.

Zed Kassman
The walk back to his quarters was relaxing and calming. It helped the rolling emotions that had been left over from his run in with the pilot settle back down to normal levels. He disliked the feeling of them all rolling around in there as he prided himself on being a calm person most of the time. The pilot had managed to get under his skin however and it annoyed him even more.
Grumbling to himself, he sank into the chair by his desk, letting his mind wander a bit. As it usually did, it wandered back to the Hospital and a pang of worry bubbled up as he wondered how his patients were doing. Since he was recruited for this mission, he had to pass the few he had at the time off onto other doctors. He had promised to keep tabs on their recover anyway but knew he likely would not have the time between his duties on the ship and his other ventures. Still, he knew he needed to at least make an effort so he made a mental note to look into his old patients when the returned to the station. Doing it now would only be a distraction he didn't need or really want. They were all in capable hands after all, so he had nothing to worry about.

(Yep- I'm back home now but unfortunately I've come down with a cold so I'm a bit miserable)

Captain Tubon
Tripp appreciated the help as he lowered the pipe to the ground, and accepted the offered flashlight. He ran a hand over it experimentally, finding the button at the base of the light, and shone it into the pipe, peering carefully inside. He didn't see much at first, but as he took the time to shine the light around and move his head to get better angles, towards the end of the pipe he saw a buildup of...something. It was only distinguishable by a change in how the light was reflecting off of the gunk that was raised above the rest of the inner surface of the pipe- the dark colored slick goop was covering everything in the pipe. Tripp leaned back as the smells of grease and oil hit him, and offered the flashlight. "Is it the rippled shiny spot towards the back of the pipe?" He asked, tilting the pipe towards the engineer for him to take a look.

Eric Henson
Eric tried to do some more digging on the Pyxis, but was met with a request for credentials to access classified information. He was stuck with the public information for now. Eric was doubtful that the captain would share the information with him, as he hadn't shared the name of the ship or any suspicions or relevant information with the crew yet. He figured that as they approached the ship he'd be more forthcoming with the information, but Eric was more concerned with the lack of basic information about their trip up front. What if there was something they needed to be worried about, like the nuclear reactors that were helping to power the Pyxis and her other sister ships that would necessitate a slow down prior to approaching the ship to check for any harmful radiation? Still, that was an assumption that the ship was the Pyxis, but Eric resolved to talk to the captain the next time he came up to the bridge.

(Also, any thoughts about a slight time skip? I feel like I'm running a bit dry with what I can say with the pilot)

(oh dear, well I hope you get better soon. Colds are the worst honestly.
As for the time skip, I agree that we should do one soon probably. I'm also running out of things for Zed to do as well. So, I'm on board with a time skip. Maybe skip ahead to right before they get to the ship they went out for to get the plot moving or we can do a smaller one to later into the travel week? )

MIles Walker
Miles was ready to step in to point out the problem when it seemed like the Captain was struggling to figure it out. He wanted to give him as much time as he needed however and didn't want to discourage him by just telling him. So instead he remained silent and waited for the man to either ask for help or figure it out. After a few more minutes had passed, the Captain seemed to lock onto something. With a smile, Miles waited for his assessment, nearly laughing when he pulled back due to what he could only assume was the smell of old grease. That stuff smelled pretty bad, even to those who were used to it. It ranked pretty high on Miles's list of smells he could live without. Sadly it was part of his job so he put up with it.
Taking the flashlight after listening to the mans words, Miles checked for himself. Shining the light towards the back of the pipe, he noted the reflection off raised part of the pipe. That along with the smell was enough to confirm.
"You would be correct." Miles nodded, pulling back and flicking the flashlight off. He was pleased that the Captain had been able to deduce the problem on his own. "That would be old grease build up. It tends to like to settle in pipes when the engines are left idle for long periods of time or for any number of other reasons."

Zed Kassman
His worry about his old patients dealt with for the time being, Zed shifted his focus else where. He jumped between books and medical journals, not able to totally focus on anything for more then a few minutes. Usually he could spend days on end reading but in the confines of the ship and lack of grass or fresh air, he felt twitchy. When he got that feeling normally he would just take his ready outside and enjoy the fresh air and noise of the city but that was an impossible thing to do on a ship in the middle of space. Setting his book down with a grumble about the annoyance of it all, Zed went over to the bed and settled down on it. A cat nap might help but just in case he did actually fall asleep he made sure the tablet was close and he would be able to hear the alert if he was needed for whatever reason. The last thing he wanted was to sleep through a medical emergency or any other problem that might require his attention. Once he had the settings on the tablet sorted out, which took far to long to figure out, he closed his eyes and tried not to think about anything but relaxing.

(Sorry for the delay again, getting ready to move back to the place I left so doing a lot of sorting and packing recently)

Captain Tubon
Tripp looked around the room, feeling distinctly uncomfortable. They'd had a rough past few days, and the crew was settling in, although it had taking an alarming turn that they had settled in to a animosity directed towards him. He couldn't figure out exactly where he'd gone wrong- he'd done everything right by the book and had been following the orders of his superiors, but his crew had grown increasingly disgruntled. The long hours weren't helping, and even though he and the doctor had done their best to relieve the duties of the engineer, the long hours were getting to them, and having the pilot not be able to help out or leave the vicinity of his post was an additional source of frustration. Things might have not have been this bad if the crew had already been established and familiar with each other, but as everyone was still figuring each other and the ship out, there was a lack of trust in not only each other, but in himself. Tucker looked around the room, feeling the wear he was experiencing reflected on the faces of the doctor and engineer. The pilot seemed a bit more closed off than usual, and Tucker wasn't sure if it was because Dr. Kassman was in the room or because he hadn't been socializing much with the crew lately. He was glad that he'd gotten the table and chairs installed into the makeshift meeting room, and the screen set to a flat military insignia with the name of their ship beneath it helped lend to a somewhat formal setting. He needed the crew to be in somewhat decent shape for when they arrived at the distressed ship, and their current attitudes towards him and their work were...less than stellar at the moment. Tucker looked around the room and leaned slightly forwards, resting his hands on the metal table as he started the meeting.
"It's been a rough past few days." He said. "Everyone is working hard, but this is a stressful time and I feel like there's a bit of friction right now." Tucker paused, looking pointedly at each one of his crew. "It's tough living and working in such close quarters with people who you don't know very well, but so far you've managed." He said, making sure to not praise them, but also not to critique their work either. "This meeting is to talk about issues you have been having so we can try to clear the air a bit so we can go into this rescue with clear heads and focus." He said, offering a slight, reassuring smile. "This is a time when we can voice complaints that we can constructively work on to make this ship more efficient and help improve our time on board her." Tucker paused a moment, considering his next words. "I'm not perfect by any means. I'm still relatively new at running a ship with a small crew, and I'd appreciate any constructive suggestions you have for me as well." He said, before nodding at the group, indicating that he was done and hoping that they would pipe up with what had been on their minds.

Eric Henson
Eric wasn't fond of formal settings. The captain sitting at the head of the table with the insignia behind him on the screen was a bit intimidating. He felt like a kid back on the Americas colony after he'd been found out taking some of the vehicles for rides at night- in trouble and sitting in front of the desk of the leader of the Americas colony. Sure, there was the occasional vehicle that had gone missing for the night- it was practically a teenage rite of passage here, but his trips were educational ones, taking samples, learning more about the vehicles, and graduating from the buggies to some of the fliers hadn't escaped the watchful eyes of the garage manager.
He had a few complaints about how the captain was running things- mainly the lack of information he'd been provided with. Sure, he'd been able to plot the course to the source of the distress call, but without specific information about the ship, he'd done what was required of him in situations when you didn't have that information- you stopped the ship a standard distance away from the other one until you were able to gain more information about the ship. He still hadn't managed to turn up anything else about the Pyxis, and the only other bit of information he had was that besides the probe and the colony ship, no other ships had traveled through that region of space that he or the computer was aware of. Eric glanced around the room as the captain finished speaking, wondering who would pipe up first.

(Don't worry about it, that sounds like a lot of work)

Miles Walker
The last few days had pushed Miles to his limit and maybe even past it. He had thought he was ready for the round the clock work but he had been sorely mistaken. Even with the Doctor and Captain helping him, he still felt tired constantly. That probably had something to do with the fact he wasn't sleep as much as he should, still not able to trust either man to do the job without him around. It was beginning to get easier to leave them to it but even so, he still wasn't ready yet. A yawn pulled itself from his lips as he surveyed the room around him. The meeting room air was thick with tension and there was an obvious divide between them and the Captain. It was something that had been building over the last few days and to the Captains credit, he had noticed it. That was a point to him but he had already lost to many to make up any ground in Miles's mind.
Leaning back in his chair, Miles crossed his arms over his chest, a bubble of annoyance building at being stuck in the room instead of down in his engine working. Even though he knew he needed to be here and wanted to voice his opinions on the matter at hand, his mind was telling him he should be down working. It was a hard voice to ignore but he did, instead listening to the Captains little speech, snorting in amusement at his wording. A 'bit of friction' was probably the biggest understatement he had heard in a while. Maybe he had been a bit to quick to assume the man really understood what was going on with his crew. At least he seemed willing to listen to what they had to say and didn't just tell them to suck it up and get back to work. Then again that would have gone very badly for him if he had tried that so he made the right call there.
Once the Captain was finished his speech, Miles waited a moment to see if anyone was going to chime in but it became clear that no one wanted to be the first to voice their grievances with the Captain. Well, he could take point on that.
"How about we start with you telling us what we're getting into?" Miles said in a tired voice but he did his best to be clear with his words. "All we know is we're going to rescue a ship but I, personally, need a heck of a lot more then that to do my job effectively. What series of ship are we getting, engine schismatics, expected damage, what systems should I expect to see? I know nothing about the job I'm expected to do here. Unless you plan to send me in blind, I need information."

Zed Kassman
Zed loathed being stuck in a meeting with the rest of the crew. It reminded him of board meetings back at the hospital which had never ended well. Someone always ended up yelling or blaming someone else for something that would have been avoidable if both parties did the right thing from the beginning. He was seeing that happening now. Though unlike usual, he was actually agreeing with the annoyed party. Over the past few days of travel, between learning how engines run and doing various work in the medical bay, he had gotten to thinking. The train of thought had led him to questions that he had been unable to find the answers for which bothered him greatly, especially since they all pertained to the mission they were one. He had thought they would be simple ones to find the answers to but after hours of late night searching he had finally had to admit defeat and accept that the answer either didn't exist or was being hidden. Neither option was a pleasant. So here he was, sitting in a chair in a meeting room with the rest of the crew listening to the Captain talk about the reason for the meeting.
When he was done and opened the floor for them, no one spoke. Zed nearly rolled his eyes at that, since talking was the whole reason they were here after all. Before he got a chance to the Engineer pipped up, voicing his complaints in a voice that sounded just as worn out and tired as he looked. Zed made note of that. He knew the man wasn't sleep as much as he had been told to and realized it was going to take more then a stern talking to to get him to actually sleep and let them handle the easier jobs he had trained them for. They were all tired of course but the last thing they needed was their engineer pushing himself to far and doing actual harm to himself, that was a disaster waiting to happen.
Mr. Walkers words echoed his own thoughts however, at least to a degree. Lack of information was a problem, and whether it was on purpose or it just didn't exist, they needed to know.
"Is there just no information in the ship we are supposed to be rescuing, or are we just not high enough clearance to know?" He spoke up once the Engineer was finished, feeling the need to give the Captain the benefit of the doubt. It seemed unlikely that he would keep information from them in this sort of situation where the knowledge was needed in order to protect themselves and help the people they were supposed to be helping.

(Yeah it's been a whole mess and a half and I managed to leave a few things in the other state that I need so that's always fun, but I got most of my plants up with me so that's good haha)

Eric Henson
Eric nodded in agreement with the other two crew members about their complaints, although as much as he hated to admit it, the doctor's question did raise a good point. While the missions weren't exactly a secret- there had been quite the excitement and fanfare about their departure- the fact that a ship had returned to the sol system and was emitting a distress call could be bad news for them and the other ships that had left the solar system. There would be a whole blame game going around as to who or what had caused the issue to cause the ship to turn around, and a rumor mill with unsubstantiated reports would only throw wrenches into the official investigation and promote disbelief about the official report. There was already some hesitancy to place a firm belief in the united military giving them the whole truth, and Eric had mostly discounted it until the captain had decided to actively keep information that was relevant to their rescue mission a secret. He had his suspicions about the ship due to his search, however, it was possible that it could be another ship that had gotten lost in the area or far out. Still, having information about the type and make of ship would give him important safety information and help him configure their ship for docking with the other ship.

Captain Tubon
Tripp listened to his crew- it seemed like aside from the stressful circumstances, there seemed to be a lack of trust based off of what information he was and wasn't providing them. In this case it was because the information was classified- simple as that, however, he wasn't sure if the crew would survive the return trip home in a functional manner given the stresses they'd already gone under. It was very challenging to run a ship this large with so few crew on hand for such a long time, and to their credit, fresh hands doing this well with a ship was good- they knew how to work hard. With a good leader, they'd be able to do the impossible, but the problem was they didn't have a leader that they believed they could trust right now. Tripp sighed heavily before gesturing towards Dr. Kassman. "The doctor is correct. The information is considered classified, however as we are about to approach the ship within eighteen hours, I see there is little point in keeping it from you any further. I would like to disclose that I advocated for disclosing this information to you a lot sooner, however my superiors decided against it. You are not to mention the nature of this mission in your monitored messages, however, you are free to talk about it on board the ship. The ship we received a distress call was from one of the settler ships-" Eric piped up, interrupting him. "The Pyxis?" He asked, and Tripp nodded. "The Pyxis." He said, surprised by his deduction. While his initial assessment of the somewhat hot headed young man still held, he carefully added a few more degrees of intelligence. Tripp wasn't sure how he got the information or put it together, but the pilot had a head on him. "We haven't received any communications from the ship itself, only the automated distress call at this time, so we do not know the nature of it's distress. It is likely that the ship is running on minimal power, and-" Tripp stopped talking as a slight shudder ran through the ship, and he looked around, expression a mixture of confusion and concern.

(Oh no, the hazards of moving, something always gets lost or left somewhere. At least most of the plants made it in one piece. Moving plants around doesn't always go well.
Also, sorry this took a bit to get up or makes less sense then normal. My sleep schedule has decide to outright abandon me which made focusing to get posts out a bit hard. It should be fixed again in a few days, hopefully)

Miles Walker
Miles wasn't to pleased to hear that the information they had needed in order to do their job had been considered to classified to give to them. In his mind they should have been given access to it because without it, they ran the risk of making huge mistakes that could be avoided with the material. It frustrated him more, and he huffed to voice his annoyance without actually interrupting the Captains words. The fact that the Captain had wanted to give them the information from the get go but couldn't because of military politics made it a bit better but didn't totally rid Miles of his frustrations. No, those would linger for a while or at least until he could go and fix something to get his mind off it.
His eyes jumped to Eric when he chimed in with the name of the ship they were heading to, eyebrows raised. How had Eric found that and why had he kept it to himself instead of sharing? Frowning slightly and filing that away for later since there was more pressing matters then a crew mate not thinking to share information they had all been looking for, he turned his attention back to the Captain. It seemed like there wasn't actually that much information that even the Captain knew from the way he spoke. The fact that they didn't have any recent communication with the ship was distressing and meant something was seriously wrong with their systems. Communications was one of the last systems to go down in the case of emergencies though the fact that they still had the automatic distress call did offer a ray of hope the damage wasn't serious.
Miles couldn't elaborate on the thought much more then that as his mind was ground to a halt by a shudder that ran through the ship. He got to his feet just as the second more serious shudder ran through the ship, nearly knocking him off balance. The alarm bells ringing in his head suddenly started blaring loudly that something was very wrong. He didn't know what had caused that shudder but the list of things that could cause something that violent was short and none of them good for the engines or them. His internal list was interrupted again by actual emergency alarms ringing to life.
"Engine now! He yelled, spinning around and racing from the room without looking back. If it was what he thought it could be then he had no time to wait around for either the Captain or Doctor to follow him. He could just hope they actually would since there was no way he was fixing this one on his own.
Skidding around a corner, he took the stairs down the engines two at a time, nearly tripping over his own feet in an attempt to get there faster.

Zed Kassman
While he couldn't say he was pleased that the information had been kept from them, Zed was at least glad that the Captain hadn't been part of the reason but instead the higher ups. Their reasoning for such a move escaped him but so did a lot of workplace politics so he wasn't to bothered by it. He was just glad the Captain was willing to give it to them now, a bit later but better then never in his opinion.
The Pilots knowledge of the ships name was intriguing but dismissed in favor of the Captains words. Whatever lengths the Pilot had gone through the get that name, it was clear he hadn't found much more after that otherwise he probably wouldn't have agreed to the nature of this meeting or would have disclosed it before the Captain got far.
The lack of knowledge on the nature of the distress of the ship had him concerned since it would be difficult to do his job without knowing what he was getting into. It would be doable of course, he was used to being thrown into situations without warning but it didn't make him any less nervous about what they were getting into.
When the shudder ran through the ship, Zed's fingers clamped around the edge of the table. He hunched his shoulders when the second shudder hit a few seconds later, seemingly with more power behind it. His eyes went to the engineer who had bolted upright, a look of concern and what could possibly be panic on his face. That didn't exactly install confidence in Zed that the shudder was just a normal thing ships did. His fear was confirmed when alarms started ringing loudly in his ears, his hands moving to clamp over them in an attempt to block out some of the sound. He thought he heard the Engineer yelling something before running out of the room at full speed but it was near impossible to tell over the sound of alarms. The best guess Zed had was the man wanted either the Captain or him to follow, possibly both. Pushing himself to his feet, Zed shot a glance to the Captain and Pilot, unsure if he should say something but realizing it wouldn't be heard even if he did so. Instead he followed the Engineer out of the room, praying he wasn't making a mistake by doing so.

(Hey, no worries! I've been having some fun readjusting my sleep schedule for work too)

Captain Tubon
The alarms going off caused Tripp to spring into action. He was able to vaguely hear Mr. Walker yell something about the engine, and after a brief hesitation as to whether he should go to the bridge or the engine room, he realized that he wasn't on his previous ship anymore- if there was a problem in the engine room, he had to go fix it, not the small army of engineers like on the Holt. Tripp followed Dr. Kassman out the door, overtaking him on the stairs and ran towards the engine room. There was a small puddle of dark colored liquid outside the door to the engine room- Mr. Walker was no where in sight so Tripp assumed he'd already gone in. He slowed to a stop outside of the room, testing the puddle warily with a foot- whatever it was, it was slick and slippery. He scuffed his boot on a clean section of floor before waving his wrist at the door to open it. A wave of dark colored sludge flowed from behind the door, capturing his attention for a moment before he looked up and into the room. Tripp was greeted by the sight of what seemed at first like a dark haze in the room, but he quickly realized that something was spraying this liquid at force inside the room. Just about every surface was covered in a slick, oily mess, and in addition to the normal engine noises, there was a high pitched hissing whine as the fluid escaped a pipe towards the corner of the room. He looked around, uncertain what he should be doing- he hadn't been trained by Mr. Walker for this, but he would lend a hand once he could find the engineer.

Eric Henson
Eric hurried out of the meeting room after the others had left, running to the bridge. He needed to keep an eye on the power coming from the engines and adjust it as he assumed that it would be falling soon or quickly. Priority obviously went to life support, and as he sat down at his chair he was already disconnecting the engines from the propulsion systems and shutting nonessential systems down in an attempt to conserve energy in case they lost power for an extended period of time. They were cruising at a good clip already, but the only problem was that they would be starting to slow down to approach the Pyxis the next day. With the emergency procedures performed for an engine failure of unspecified origin, Eric pulled up the power output from the engines and engine schematics on one side of the screen, and then called up an image of the engine room on the other side. He couldn't see much- everything seemed to be covered in a brownish haze. Was it smoke? Eric felt a chill but quickly realized that it was more reminiscent of a thick fog condensing on the surfaces in the engine room, and after a few moments he was able to discern some movement. He wanted to figure out what was going on but judging by the fast movements of the person in the corner of the screen they had something more important to worry about for now. Eric leaned back in his chair, tense, and ran a hand through his hair, unable to leave his post to help.
