- Hearing the doors all lock into place, Melanie looked over and saw Cooper pass by her and begin walking towards the doors. She pushed off against the hood of the car and walked after him, catching up to him within seconds because he had waited for her at the front entrance. She peered through the glass doors into the hotel lobby and was quick to enter the spacious room. The girl didn’t do much except for waiting for Cooper. She stood by his side, but instead of looking at the woman behind the long desk, her brown eyes were roaming around the room, picking up every detail as if she’d never see anything like this again. And, for all she knew, she was right. She didn’t know when the people from the lab would find them or if they would find them. She didn’t even know if she’s they were looking for her! But, that seemed a little odd, she’d think that they’d want to find her or at least Cooper since he had cost them a patient.
Melanie snapped her gaze back towards Cooper as she heard keys jangling and she saw him holding out a room key towards her. For a second she panicked, thinking they were staying in different rooms and she began murmuring thoughts under her breath with her eyes fixed on the key, which had somehow ended up in her hand, she didn’t even remember taking them, “We can’t stay in different rooms, we can’t be serperated... what if the lab comes for me and Cooper doesn’t know that they’re here? They’ll just take me and then in the morning he’ll be alone and he won’t realize what happened. He might think I ran and abandoned him. I should have been paying attention to what he said.. I should’ve, I shoukd’ve,” she muttered as she subconsciously followed Cooper as he walked off. She cut off her murmured thoughts when she realized they had entered an elevator. Feeling the metal box begin to move upwards she looked at the number on her key. It was a six. Then, she glanced over to Cooper, trying to steal a glance at his keys, but she couldn’t see the number, so she gave up and just asked, “We’re in the same room right? Not separate ones?” she asked shakily. Trying to sound casual and not desperate and clingy.
