Eider parked his bike on the bike wrack and walked into Decatur High School for his first day of 11th grade (I decided to make him a little older in this one (16) so that their relationship could be a little further along). His backpack was stuffed full of notebooks, folders, pads of paper, and all the other school supplies he had bought. He was a little early, so he didn't have to rush to class like he usually did on a Monday morning. Looking at his schedule, he wandered the halls until he found his 1st period class, Pre-Calculus with Mrs. Paige. The room was mainly empty, except for a few other students who had arrived before the first bell rang. He recognized a few kids from his classes in previous years, and went to sit beside his friend Angus. "Hey Angus, how's it going?" he said, plopping down into the seat beside him. Angus turned and smiled at Eider, his brightly colored braces flashing. "Pretty good, Eider. I can't wait to start class! There's so much I want to learn, and so many teachers I want to meet!" Angus said with a slight lisp that he'd had since kindergarten when he fell and broke his jaw. He pushed up his glasses and looked back down at his desk, which was covered in textbooks on beginner Calculus. "Wow, you're really prepared," Eider commented, glancing over at them. Angus nodded and started to reply when the first bell rang, and kids started pouring into the classroom. Eider saw a few more people he knew, and waited to see if any of his closest friends were in the class.

Mavis was in Calculas. She walked in. She smiled, adorably at Eider. Her bag was slung over hrr shoulder. She sat down in her group of friends smiling. She was told not to sit with Eider for both their grades. Sam sat in beside her smiling. ((wb))

Eider smiled and waved at Mavis when she came in, but knew he couldn't sit with her. Mrs. Paige came in and told the class to quiet down. "Okay, class. Welcome to 11th grade! This will be a very fun year, but only if you behave and do your work. My job is to teach you how to do calculus. I do my job every day every year, and the only time I don't do it is when I'm sick. You have to do your job too, which is to complete your homework and turn it in on time. I do not take excuses unless you have a doctor's note. Now, since I've finished up my little speech, let's move on, shell we? I think for now, I need to get to know everyone's names. So let's go down the line and say our names and... how about our favorite subject? I'm Mrs. Paige, and my favorite subject is calculus." She chuckled, and turned to the person in the front of the first row. "You first," she said. "Uh, I'm Derrel, and my favorite subject is Lunch." Several kids laughed, and Mrs. Paige smiled. "Next?" They continued to go down the line until it got to Angus. "Umm hello everyone, I'm Angus Fletcher, and my favorite subject is Calculus," he said awkwardly, smiling at the teacher. Mrs. Paige smiled back. "Well Mr. Angus, I'm glad to hear we share some interests! Now, who's next?" Eider raised his hand slightly. "Hey guys, I'm Eider, and my favorite subject is Music Theory," he said, running his fingers casually through his silvery-white hair. A few people nodded in agreement, then the person behind him went. Eider just wanted to get on with class.

Mavis, well she kinda didn't have confident when it came to talking in front of people. Soon enough it was her time to speak. Her little group looked at her. They nodded their heads kinda encourngly. ''I'm Mavis and my favorite subject is PE.'' Her friends smiled as Mavis finally spoke. Eider was kinda the only person that she hung out with that wasn't her siblings or the group she was with in school. ''I'm Sam and my favorite subject is art'' Then it moved on.

After the class finally finished saying their names and Mrs. Paige had gone through and repeated them all, they were instructed to open their textbooks and begin reading the introduction to calculus. Eider already knew all the context, as he was on the academic level of a Junior in college rather than a Junior in high school, but he found it interesting to read anyways. Beside him, Angus was eagerly eating up the information and scribbling furiously in his notebook. Eider glanced over at one point and saw that he had already filled several pages with notes about calculus tips and the main points. Once he finished reading, Eider took out his music book and began jotting down random tunes and jingles that came to his mind. He had always loves music. He was aware of the teacher walking by and glancing at what he was doing, but to his relief she didn't tell him to put his book away. She just continued walking and looked at Angus with pride. Eider heard her whisper to him, "Now, that's the way to win me over. I like you, Angus." Angus grinned uncontrollably and went back to his notes.

Mavis was always confused with Calculas. Mavis contined reading it though. Sam continued trying to help Mavis but she wasn't really regiresting much. And plus, cause she had autism she had to be taken out of any class she went too. And plus. Eider wasn't near directly beside her, she was sorta nervous.

A flat, connected to 16th note C sharp... Eider ran through notes in his head while he jotted down song ideas. He had a cool idea for a song about Mavis that he might play for her at their next date if he could finish it in time. He worked on it for a little while until Mrs. Paige said, "Okay, has everyone finished reading? Please turn to page 121 in your books and complete questions 1-10. They're simple questions, and if you read the introduction carefully, you should be able to solve them quickly and with ease. You have 15 minutes." Eider glanced at the first question and wrote down the answer without even having to solve it. He felt like it was a little unfair for him to be so intelligent, but it had nothing to do with cheating or anything; he was just very smart. He thought it might have something to do with having the mind of a much older demon inside of him. He blew through the questions in the first 5 minutes and went back to his music. Angus read back though his notes and took his time answering the questions, finishing just before Mrs. Paige told them time's up. He felt good about his answers, and wasn't worried about missing any.

Liam woke to the sound of his dog barking and sat up slowly. He looked at his phone; it was 9:00. He needed to get ready. Liam tossed on some jeans and a T-shirt and brushed his teeth, then grabbed his backpack and left the room. He walked out into the hallway of his dorm and locked the door, then went down the elevator to the parking lot. He found his car and hopped in, driving off to his college. First day of his sophomore year. This was a big day.

Mavis stared at the book. Sam helped her. The teacher told her be quite. Mavis's friend, Annie shot her a glare. The teacher looked at her. The teacher realized it was Mavis.

Eider was so consumed by his music that he didn't even notice the teacher talking to Mavis. He scribbled down note after note, connecting them with ties and adding in accidentals. He poured his feelings for Mavis into the song he was writing and felt it coming together into a work of art. He thought it would be fun to sing and play the song on piano for her, or whatever instrument was her favorite. He could play pretty much any.

Liam stepped into the auditorium and sat down in the center of the large room. There were a lot of other college students in there, all whispering quietly among each other. Liam didn't know anyone else, so he sat quietly until the professor came in and called everyone to attention.
