Wren let out a groan as he was left alone, rolling onto his side. His reply of 'I'm fine' had been about as far from the truth as it could have been - all the metaphor about computers and the illusory world had simply been a successful attempt to divert Jake's attention from the blatant lie.
When Wren's abilities of mental projection and telekinesis had first manifested, every personal assistant and trainer he had been working with had suggested he focus on his telekinesis - they insisted it would be more useful, and easier to master. However, Wren had had little interested in prioritizing his telekinesis - it was a useful ability, yes, but it was for more direct combat. This could have been a benefit, however Wren had never had much interest in being the main combatant in a battle - he preferred to remain as the backup, supporting stronger fighters from behind. With his illusions, Wren had surmised, he would be able to effectively aid those he may be fighting alongside. Although he had honed his skill in telekinesis, he avoided using it, conserving his energy for his mental projection. The difficulty of mastering his illusions hadn't deterred Wren either - the harder it became, the harder he worked, and eventually, he had achieved a magnificent ability, and built a world of unimaginable scale, all contained within his head.
