No. I'll help you first." Kyo shook her head. Her face became listless. No way she was going to show any weakness. She took the cup in both hands and sipped quietly. The nostalgic taste calmed her immediately. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the feeling of the warm cup in her hand. When she saw it earlier it was painted with cherry blossoms, just like the tree in Kakariko. She decided to focus on those to stay calm. Despite the noise of the other people, she was completely relaxed and didn't flinch at sudden noises. Finally a moment of calm... The location could be better, but she wasn't complaining.

"Alright. That's entirely up to you." Mamoru nodded. He simply turned his attention to his milkshake. It was weird being in Crown with Kyo and not Usagi or any of the senshi. It had been a long time he had come alone... Technically, it still was. He had Kyo here, which he was sure didn't make her the happiest. Wasn't 'traditional' in any sense of the word. But even with her here, it felt lonely. He felt alone. Of course, there were people he trusted that weren't senshi. Motoki of course, he was always there for him. Then there was Ittou, who looked up to Mamoru like a brother. He was a bit much, with his note taking, but he was very sweet. And for now he supposed Kyo fell into that category. Even with them easily within reach, he was alone. Mamoru hoped this feeling would end soon. He didn't like thinking about how close he was to losing his family again.

Kyo Nagano - Crown - Quiet

Kyo had to admit she was surprised Mamoru wasn't trying to start another conversation. He had become silent too. Good. She loathed it when people started conversations just for the sake of talking. She reminisced on all the tea ceremonies she had with Saori and Ren. As much as she hated the former, she didn't talk, so it was bearable. Kyo could just focus on her tea. It wasn't too different from now. She noticed someone approaching them again, and combined with the smell of her soup, she could tell it was their food, though she didn't say anything.

Mamoru Chiba ~ Crown ~ Food!

Unazuki and Motoki set down plates of food in front of Kyo and Mamoru. "Miso soup and sticky rice for the lady. And takoyaki for Chiba Mamoru." Motoki chirped before waving as he and his sister walked away from the table to help other people.

Mamoru thanked the two before they left, then started to eat. "I hope this fits your standards enough." Was all he said to Kyo before letting himself drift back into thought.

Kyo snapped herself out of her trance and eyed the food. It looked normal. She picked the soup up with both hands and took a sip. She blinked in surprise. This was pretty good. Not as good as her own, but it was passable in comparison. She started slurping it loudly. Heh. The castle nobles had a fit when she did that. They thought it was rude, which only confused her. Impa had told her it was polite, but they said it was rude. She didn't listen to them in the end. Like now. No matter how many people thought it odd or rude, she'd still do it. It was how she was raised. "This is pretty good." She continued slurping it loudly until she was done.

"Uh, glad to hear." Mamoru said, finishing his own food rather quickly. At least Kyo was fine with the food. He had to admit he was a bit nervous as to whether or not the food would be good enough for her. She seemed a bit particular about it. "I'm guessing customs in Hyrule when it comes to eating food like this, or at least with the Sheikah, are similar then...? It's kind of funny... I've been to America, and the customs there are plenty different. Thankfully I did my research before hand as to not be rude to our hosts. I wasn't sure about you though..."

"I suppose the traditional aspects of the Japanese and Sheikah are similar. There's the verbal language, dress, and food." Kyo finished her soup and moved onto the sticky rice with the chopsticks. "What was traditional society like here? So far I know the dress and food is similar. The more modern aspect seems like a more modern version of Hyrulean culture... The base architecture seems similar." She tried not to break the rice apart so much that it fell apart into single grains. That mistake was infuriating and painstakingly long. "America? Is that the equivalent of Hylian culture in this world?"

Mamoru set aside his empty dish. "I suppose so. Well, it depends on what you're looking for when you say traditional society. A lot of Japan's culture, mostly in earlier times, is due to cultural diffusion from Korea and China. Though, there was a time when Japan was isolated from the rest of the world. At that time Japan was a feudalistic nation. After that we started advancing like the rest of the world had. That's just a basic generalization. Is there anything in specific you want to know about?" He asked. "You know, it's ok to bring the bowl of rice closer to your face. It makes eating much easier. How would I know? It might be. What's Hylian culture like?"

"Kakariko was isolated at one point too. It was closed off to any people were who weren't Sheikah. What was is like before it changed to whatever this is?" Kyo held up the plate closer to her, occasionally taking a few sips of tea. She would have wondered if the Sheikah would turn out like Tokyo with modern everything, but she doubted they would even survive that long and the Sheikah would vanish before they could even advance into a new society... "Hylians, as they are now, often make buildings out of stone and the royal family lives in a white marble castle. The soldiers are called knights and they exist as a patriarchal monarchy. The title of king or queen is passed onto the children of the ruling family, with preference to male heirs. The men are the only ones trained to fight. Women are meant to stay at home and raise children and look after the home, with no military training at all." She polished off the sticky rice quickly, but took her time with the tea. "What is that like?"

"Before? As in right before? If we're going by the last period in Japanese history before our current period... Ah, yeah... I believe that would be the Shōwa Period. The first half, Japan was a fascist totalitarian state. A lot of conflicts happened then. And the second half consisted of many reformations. Japan was under foreign influence for a while and after that, the economy grew to be the second largest in the world! ...It's been a bit stagnate now, we're definitely no longer second largest. That's China. But hey! Third isn't so bad." Mamoru explained, finishing his milkshake now. Unazuki came over and took the empty plates. "Definitely not America then. Sounds more like England in the Middle Ages to me."
