Brendon looked up at Ryan and playfully glared, smirking a little. He flipped over a ten of clubs.

Ryan made an exasperated noise and flipped over a nine of spades. “This is dumb. You win. I’m done.” He said, shoving the cards over to Brendon. “It was a scam. You little trouble noodle, you. I should’ve known better than to let such a slithery snake as yourself shuffle the damn deck.” He shook his head, smiling and pretending to be frustrated.

Brendon was a little surprised and blinked a few times, but laughed. "What a serpent I am." He said, putting all the cards together and straightening them out.

Ryan made a spitting noise and stared down at his deck of remaining cards. “Slimy slithery sticky sick snake serpent.” He ranted. “What time you wanna have dinner?” He inquired, not quite hungry but thinking ahead about how he was going to go about the evening with Brendon.

Brendon chuckled. "Maybe get going at like, five?" He suggested, handing Ryan his cards since he wasn't sure where the box was.

Ryan nodded and hummed agreeingly since that was what he’d been thinking too. He took all the cards and straightened them out, grabbing the box out of the sand and shoving the deck in it. “It’s a very special spot in particular I’ve picked that I think you’ll like.” Ryan commented, in reference to where they were to go for dinner.

"Ooh," Brendon said excitedly. "Bet I'll love it." He tried to imagine where it could be, picturing fancy restaurants with dim lighting at first, but then realizing it was most likely something more personal.

“Only the best for my boy.” Ryan grinned, putting away the deck of cards and stretching out his legs. He grabbed another taffy out of his bag, making a mental note to only allow himself one more after this one.

Brendon smiled, looking out to the water, watching the small ripples. He chuckled a little at the sudden idea he had.

Ryan popped the taffy in his mouth, hit with the Dr Pepper flavor this time. He put his trash back in the taffy bag to throw out later. He looked over at Brendon, wondering what was on his mind.
