william horatio pellew II--
that was a surprise, at least. he did not expect to be given the opportunity to dine with his crew. if it was his own ship, he would have separated the higher-ranking officers from the sailors and the rest of the crew, due to the issue of mutiny. at least, he would have if he had room on his vessel for prisoners. it would take a fool to use the opportunity for conspiracies, however, due to being sheerly outnumbered. "thank you, sir." he found himself saying, with a small nod of his head. William would not bow to this captain, no, but he did deserve a small bow.
he would have asked more questions, but the quick opening and banging on the door stopped the words in his throat. it was the quartermaster, mr. cook, with a small boy hanging from the shirt on his back. he was shaking like a leaf, knees slightly drawn up and tiny hands held to his chest. he realized that it was the cabin boy that he saw earlier. he felt pity, but his face continued to be a strict mask. even the boy's small sniffles did not perturb him.
edward kennedy--
good lad, he thought, a very small smile pricking at the edge of his lips. it almost grew when he found out that William would be dining with them. this smile, however, was killed when the door was smashed open. from the inconsistencies aboard, it didn't make him jump or even sharply turn around. calmly turning, he couldn't help but gulp at the sight of the cabin boy shaking in the arms of the quartermaster. they didn't whip boys in the Navy. . . maybe a slap to the hands if they stole, or a long time of deck cleaning if they told a lie, but he couldn't help but feel dread at the sight of the boy. with the captain's temperament, he wouldn't be surprised if the young lad was tossed overboard.
cabin boy wayne--
he let out a very loud squeak as he was hauled up, and curled himself in as instinct as the door was whipped open and he laid eyes on the enemy crew. they seemed quite scary, as stern as his captain, and he couldn't help but shake more. do they enjoy this? why were they not surprised?! he quickly glanced over and saw two boys about his age, one starting wide-eyed at him. new friends! no, they were the enemy! he then saw his captain.
he began to sniff, and he casted his eyes to the ground and stretched to place his feet on the ground, which was quite hard because of the way cook was holding him. he needed to look strong. however, he couldn't help the quiet whimper that escaped him.
