Kodi sighed as he looked at Ash. He sat with his legs pulled up against his chest and his head resting on his knees. "The thing is I want to be alpha but I don't want to be alpha if I am forced to marry that girl. As well I love most of my pack so I do not want to abandon them. Running away is not as simple for an alpha heir as you think..." He explained, continuing to look at the ground. He yawned. "I haven't really slept from the stress..." he murmured.

[wolf?]

"I guess you're right, I don't know what it's like to be in a pack. My parents died in a storm while they were out hunting, I was only nine years old at the time, and I have been on the run ever since. They always told me never to trust anyone except for the ones I loved, and I've held onto those words my whole life." Ash said in a low voice, memories flooding back to him as he thought about what he once had. "But everything is a lot easier when you're on your own..." he added, pushing the memories back just as fast as they had come. He didn't want to think about all of that, not now, not ever again.

Kodi looked at him. "I am so sorry..." He spoke softly as he looked at him. "Hey, you can come and join my pack if you wish. My parents will not like it and fight me on it but I would like you to be there." He explained. "Or you can stay on your own..." He added as he stood. He noticed the sun was setting and he sighed. "I need to get going but it was nice meeting you Ash." He spoke as he shifted wolf and turned to leave.

[wolf?]

He frowned, "I'd rather not cause conflict within your family, but thank you for the offer." he said politely as Ash watched the boy get up. He too stood, looking over to Kodi and wishing that he could stay. Ash had almost forgotten what it was like having someone with him. "Wait..." he said softly, pausing for a moment to think his words through, "Please think about your options, and if you do decide to ditch the packlife, I'm your guy." he said with a huff before turning and running into the thick brush, phasing in mid-stride as he disappeared. Ash planned on following Kodi back to the territory from a distance so that he didn't get lost, he had a temporary den near there. He liked having a travelling companion, so he would stay there in until he could hopefully convince Kodi to run away with him.

Kodi nodded. "I understand. My pack would probably spend more time trying to kill you then to accept you into the pack. They do not like change much so I don't know why I suggested it." He spoke with a weak laugh. "I appreciate your offer but I think pack life is the best life for me..." He told him as he watched him run off. He started back to the pack with a light walk, just wanting some time to think to himself. Soon a rain began but he didn't quicken his pace. He continued going along slowly.

[wolf?]

Ash followed him from afar, looking up for a moment as it started to rain, his gaze quickly settled upon Kodi so that he didn't lose his way 'home'. Howls could be heard in the distance, and he had a feeling that it was Kodi's pack calling him home.

Kodi heard his packs calls but he still took his sweet time. He just needed some time to himself. Soon he arrived on the pack territory and he sighed. He went back into the pack house and the female jumped upon him asking him if he scared the rogue away. When he nodded she pulled him to sit down and began chatting once more to him. He let himself fall asleep just to get some peace from the female.

Ash stopped following him once he knew where he was, and headed to his small den to stay the night, he hoped to see Kodi again soon.

(I want to tell you this in advanced, but I will be gone from this Friday night till next Tuesday.)

Kodi continued to work that day. That night once everyone went to bed he snuck away and back to the lake. He slipped his shirt off and slipped into the lake for a nice midnight swim. He loved swimming and the water.

Ash couldn't sleep that night, so he decided to go for a midnight run to help him remember the area. He had been out for a while before stumbling upon the lake, his black fur blending nicely into the dark brush as he spotted someone in the water. He snuck around the edges of the woods and found the person's shirt and immediately recognized the scent as Kodi's. Ash shifted and smiled, "Psst! Kodi!" he whispered, not knowing if he was alone or not.
