(Hey- it's a great start! My first job was working at a day camp with little kids, and since then I've worked as a secretary, research assistant, and for my state :) just keep going and building up experience! As for the show, I think it's a bit hokey at times-I'm on season 6 and it isn't quite as good, there's some jumping around with plot stuff but I hear it gets better in a season or two)

Eric nodded, glancing over the engine compartment once again. "How many miles ago was that?" He asked, curious. While he would have liked to take the engine apart, he knew he lacked the tools to do a good job or take it apart completely, as well as it being bad manners to force Nicholas to stay over at their place while he went to town on his car. He straightened up, sighing, and wiped his hands on the back of his jeans. "Please tell me you know how to change a tire." He said, grinning at the other man.

"Uhh... a lot, probably. I've been driving all over the country for about the last year or so. My income doesn't get stale if I move around to new places." He explained, keeping his cover with a well practiced lie and a hint of innocent charm. Even if it wasn't rehearsed, Nicholas had woven it so tightly into his life that it almost was the truth, and it was believable. "I dunno, ballpark of.. more than three thousand? I haven't looked." Nick felt more confident when Eric asked if he could change a tire. "Of course I can," The hunter answered, jokingly faking an appaled expression that the other would doubt him in that. "Since I drive so much, flats are a pretty common thing. I try to always keep a spare tire."

(That sounds interesting. I was a little late getting into the workforce, but at least I have the option to work during my senior year since mine isn't seasonal. If I can handle work and school at the same time though, I'm definitely wanting to get an on campus job or something in college. Yeah, I watched the first episode of season 6 and was just like "how? why? what?" And I haven't watched any more since. I have heard it gets better though)

(Getting a campus job is always great- they're usually pretty flexible around students' schedules. I'd advise holding off the first year until you get settled in and figure out your schedule/classes/study habits/ect. It's a lot to get used to, and I'm glad I waited a little longer to start working during the semester. I just started season 7, this should be interesting)

Eric settled back, leaning against the mustang's front. "Well since you know how to change a tire and you got everything fixed up recently, I think the oil will be enough for this evening." He said, walking into the barn to retrieve the necessary tools and some spare oil from the barn. He wormed his way underneath the car, beckoning with a hand to Nicholas after he didn't immediately join him.

(would you like to skip ahead? I feel like I'm running out of car things, but if you'd like a close moment underneath the car we could pull that :) )

"That sounds fine, I want to try and keep him in good shape." It took a few moments to realize what Eric was wanting when he wiggled his way under the car. Nick breathed a quiet 'oh' before joining him in the tight space. "It's rather stuffy under here." Eric seemed to know what he was doing, so they were in and out within ten minutes. With everything finished with the car, Nicholas helped the younger man put up all the tools they'd used and the pair headed inside, the sun having sunk below the horizon and sleep beginning to overtake the town's residents. Nick turned in for the night when Eric did, heading into his room and waiting rather than sleeping. Once everything was settled, he'd head out to Mr... Nicholas couldn't even remember his name now. Mr. Whoever's barn to investigate the fire for anything supernatural about the event. With any luck, he'd find some clues. While the hunter waited, he dug around in his belongings for what he would need to take. Salt was a must; every hunter needed salt. He also tucked a silver knife into his belt and took some holy water just in case. He had the nagging feeling that he was forgetting something, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He reread through his journal for the next hour, making some notes on a fresh page about this particular case. As he wrote, his thoughts continuously led him to think of Eric and his rather ordinary life. Nick's own life hadn't ever been ordinary; it was a mess the instant he was born. He'd always wanted to be normal, living a normal life, but after a while he'd grown to accept that it couldn't ever happen. The dark haired man closed the book and glanced at the clock. It was half past midnight, so everyone ought to be sleeping by now. Tentatively, Nicholas gathered what he planned to bring and fixed the items in various pockets in his coat and headed out, moving carefully to avoid especially creaky bits of floor. He breathed a sigh of relief once he'd made it outside. "And then there's the car," The mustang was traditionally rather loud, especially when he turned it on. He trotted to the door and fished out his keys, plopping in the driver's seat. He mouthed a prayer before turning on the engine. His prayers were answered, as the engine purred softly instead of roaring. "Must've been the oil change," he decided. "Or luck." Either way, he put the vehicle in drive and pulled slowly out onto the road, heading for Mr. Jenk's property, which he luckily picked up during his time at the bar.

    (Ick.
    Ickickickickick.
I know I know you've been waiting, I'm so sorry for not having anything up sooner. Work has killed my muse and I'm just starting to find it again, so I'm replying to all the stuff I've neglected >.<
I went ahead and skipped forward, since this felt like it was dragging on a bit as cute as that suggestion was though ^~^)

(No worries- I understand completely, and maybe there will be another opportune time to smush the two together haha would you like to have Eric follow? Sorry I didn't have much of a response-should we do a bit of planning?)

After the two finished up with the car, they split off into their two separate rooms- Eric wanted to take a shower and crash after the relatively long day of work and the excitement of a new face in the house. He had settled into bed, but dozed, not quite falling asleep but not fully aware of what was going on. His mind turned over the events of the day, thinking of the strange man in the bedroom down the hall. His thoughts drifted, focusing on cars again, and he blinked- did he hear an engine start up? Eric rolled over, blinking sleepily as he tried to figure if he should go investigate the source of the sound or just return to his thoughts.

Nicholas Storm
"A dirt driveway next to a lumber pile..." The man rehearsed, finding it odd how no one here used road names. Then again, most of the streets in this backwater town didn't have names. Finding Mr. Jenks' property proved more difficult than he thought, as there were many dirt driveways or driveways with lumber piles next to them. As he explored the rather unorganized residential part of the community, Nicholas noticed a few other barns that looked a little crispy. "That's a lot more fires than I felt were implied..." At least half the barns he came across were blackened shells, but whatever the culprit was, he'd have a better chance of finding out from the most recent fire. Feeling determined, he continued his search for the Jenks property.

(We can plan if you'd like--I'm sure to be very responsive in PMs, and I'm slowly starting to find my muse again. I have alot more to do academic wise this year, but writing is helping me kind of chill some. I was thinking Eric would follow)

(Going along with your recommendation to skip ahead)

Eric wasn't sure if he had heard a car start up or not- it could have been a dream. Not wanting to open his eyes, he rolled back over in bed and tried to get back to sleep, but dozed on and off again until early morning. Per usual, he was up with the sunrise, rolling out of bed. His feet met the pleasantly cool wooden floor, and he remained there for a moment, enjoying the feeling against the bottom of his feet before standing. He rummaged through his drawers, finding a pair of shorts and a shirt that both didn't have any extra holes in them, and put them on before heading downstairs to help his mother with breakfast. Already, he could smell that his mother was cooking buttermilk pancakes and turkey bacon. The stairs creaked underfoot as he went down them, not knowing if Nic was awake, and if not, he didn't want to wake him.

Nicholas Storm
The sun had just begun to rise when Nicholas pulled back into the driveway and shut off the engine. Making haste, he clamored out of the driver’s seat and up to the door. Just before he headed inside, he smelled the beginnings of breakfast and panicked. He distanced himself from the door and looked up, spotting the window to his guest room. Oh man, that’s really high... He puffed out his cheeks, not seeing another alternative. He glanced around, searching for a path upwards. He quickly scaled the side of the building not agile in the slightest but very quiet about it, though he lost his footing twice and nearly plummeted the eight feet down to the ground before he finally reached the window, opening it and rolling inside like a ninja. Except he ended up nearly giving himself a concussion. Mumbling explicits in his native tongue, Nicholas stumbled to his feet and put on a fresh pair of clothes, his adrenaline quickly wearing off. Tonight was not the night to pull an all nighter, especially since he’d learned almost nothing. Stashing away his supplies and returning the journal to his nightstand, the hunter trudged downstairs to join his hosts for a meal.

Eric spoke to his mother as they prepared breakfast- a healthy combination of fresh squeezed orange juice, sizzling turkey bacon, steaming scrambled and hard boiled eggs from the chickens out back, a hearty cut of bread with some jam and marmalade set aside, and a large bowl of grits. A kettle of hot water on the stove started to whistle, and Eric's mother hurriedly turned the heat down, not wanting to wake their guest, but Eric shook his head as the floor creaked above them. "It's okay, he's already off the bed." He said, having a wealth of knowledge about the sounds of the creaks of the house. Having grown up in the old farmhouse, he was able to tell where people were in it, based off of the differing creaking sounds that each room produced. Eric turned away from the stove, and finished setting the table, and started to put the warm plates and bowls full of food on the table. When he heard the creaks on the lower stairs, he turned to see a somewhat tired looking Nicholas. "Good morning, did you sleep well?" He asked, immediately mentally kicking himself- it was obvious that the other man hadn't. "What would you like to drink? We have tea, coffee, milk, OJ, water, sodas..." He said, trailing off as he tried to remember what else he had in their cupboards.

Nicholas Storm
His hosts greeted him much earlier than he would have liked, Eric asking him how he slept the night prior. "Like a kitten," He answered with a smile, putting on the facade of a well rested night. The food smelled delicious, though Nicholas' poor appetite was soon ruined at the sight of the eggs. He couldn't bring himself to do it, not again. It took Nick a second to realize Eric had asked him a question. "What? Oh!" He eagerly tore his gaze away from the sinful sight of the slain unborn and met the other's gaze. "Water would be fine for me. And breakfast looks... lovely." It still made him feel sick to his stomach, but what could he do? He would just have to avoid the eggs as best he could and pray it didn't insult his hosts' hospitality. I probably could just make up some kind of excuse, Nicholas thought to himself as he took a seat. I know people around here take their religion very seriously, so I'd rather avoid that bit. Maybe I could say it gives me health problems? I don't know how believable that is. Ah yes, decisions decisions. So many choices to be made before the meal would begin, and this alone was beginning to kick up the hunter's anxiety.
