(Oh no- I'm familiar with that feeling unfortunately, so frustrating! I have four RPs going on right now and two haven't replied since the second to last week of May x.x Good to hear that you're all set with school for the summer! Do you have any plans?)

Eric worked on the dishes while his mom put together the leftovers and placed them in the fridge- leftovers for tomorrow. He washed and dried them, taking care to make them squeaky clean- he didn't know what kind of bugs Nicholas was bringing into the house, and he didn't want to get sick if he could avoid it. With the dishes done, he walked into the living room and turned on the radio, flopping down on the sofa to wait for Nicholas to come back downstairs.

Nicholas Storm
He wasn't sure how long he sat in there, but eventually he forced himself to his feet and collected his thoughts, putting on a brave, entirely nonchalant face to cover how dead he felt inside. Nick clamored down the stairs and rejoined Eric in the living room, where the other lay on the couch. "I return. Did you miss me?" Nicholas remembered a time when he was incredibly quiet and afraid to talk to people, and he even cringed at the memory. Though he had an introverted personality, he loved getting to know people, even if he constantly stumbled over his words in some instances. It needed some work. "You ready to go, then?" He asked.

(Thankfully most of them started back up again so I'm happily playing the haiku hitman lol. My plans right now are get a job--finally got my permit to do so *fist pump*--and start applying for scholarships so I don't have to pay much for school. I still need to tour the other school I'm looking at, but otherwise I'm set. One more year, man.)

(Apologies for the delay- I started up a second job and I likely will not post Monday-Thursday of next week. That's great that you got your permit, best of luck applying for scholarships, they help a ton! I have two at my college that are saving me some serious money. Almost there! Have you thought about what major(s) you want to pursue? Or are you still undecided? :) )

Eric nodded, sitting up and getting to his feet slowly from the couch, doing a bit of an exaggerated stretch. "Alrighty, let's head out then." He said, making sure to tuck his rag securely into his back pocket from his front- his mother hated when he got oil and grease all over the sofa cushions. Eric led the way down the porch steps and out to the barn, picking up an oil pan, oil, and a few tools that would help them get the oil out of Nicholas' car. "First things first, we want to check the oil in the engine- it's possible that we may not need to change everything out. Mind popping the hood?" He asked, walking around to the front of the car and leaning on the edge where his hands wouldn't get in the way.

Nicholas Storm
It wasn't until they headed out the door did Nicholas realize he'd forgotten to change. Well, he didn't mind too much if he got this outfit dirty; it was dark too, so any oil hopefully wouldn't show. The hunter followed Eric out the door and waited by his car for the other to retrieve what he needed from the barn. While he waited, he took a full look at his mustang. Nick almost felt like he didn't deserve the car, with so many other people who appreciate more than he did. It was just a car to him, albeit a very nice one. He was brought out of his thoughts when Eric asked him to pop the hood. "Er, yeah. Of course." Nicholas obliged, opening the front door and popping the hood for the man, whom was much more car savvy than he. "Need anything else?" Nick stood to the side and left Eric to do his thing, whatever said thing was.

(Ayy, no problem dude, take your time. I know I'll get one from whatever college for grades, and another that my state offers, but I really need to start applying for several more. I know what I want to do for my profession, but it'll be a lot of school so I think I'll major in biology and work in an environmental science field until I get everything else I need for biomedical engineering)

(That sounds like a great plan! I studied a bit of bio for my requirements, but I've mostly stayed with animal sciences. Have you made any progress with applications this week? The sooner you get them out, the better! What were you thinking of tackling with biomedical engineering?)

As the hood moved up a half inch or so, it stopped with a click. Eric felt around the grill to release the catch that held the hood down, before using a hand to prop it up while he found the stand to keep it that way. "Alrighty, come work your way around here." He said, gesturing for Nicholas to come over. After he did so, Eric pointed out a dully colored twist cap that had the faint word 'oil' on it. "See that right there? That's a dipstick, you use it to check the oil." He said, using his thumbs to twist it off, and pulled the thin, flexible metal rod out of the engine. He pulled the rag that was stuck in his back pocket and wiped it off before sticking it back in the engine, and then removed it again. "Make sure you clean it off before taking a look at it-otherwise you'll get an inaccurate read of the oil." He said.

Nicholas Storm
Nick shimmied around to join him at the front, looking blankly into the engine. He spotted the oil cap when Eric pointed it out, and he watched as the younger one twisted off the cap and talked about the dipstick, wiping it clean. "Alright, so you see how high it goes up on the dipstick to see how much oil is in there," He said, guessing at what it was used for. It made a lot of sense, considering you had to be mindful of your oil so the engine stayed in good shape. "What level does it need to be at though?" The hunter squinted at the dipstick in the other's hand, seeing where the oil level was at but not knowing much more than that. He was an awful car owner and he knew it, though in his defense he'd only had this one for about a year.

(That I have! I turned in a second application and am waiting for a call, and I'll have to call the other one Monday to see if everything else I needed went though. As for what I'm looking into, I'd like to primarily do prosthetic work, and stem cells with applications in the same field.)

(Wonderful! Did everything go well/is everything going well so far? The stuff with the stem cells sounds great- it would be very cool if you were able to figure out how to not only grow nerve cells, but to get them to chemically interact with an electrical/mechanical component as well! I think the tricky part would be trying to get the mechanical components to respond to the chemical signals that the nerves use)

Eric pointed out a couple of notches on the dipstick. "Somewhere between these two lines is good. Right now you're on the low end. We also take a look at the color- see how this is all dark?" He asked, holding the dipstick up towards the setting sun, trying to get the fading light to accent the point he was making. "Good oil should look like...give me a sec, here, hold this." He said, giving the dipstick to Nicholas before running off into the barn and returning with a grey bottle of oil. He twisted off the cap and poured some of the light golden liquid into it. "You ideally want to have your oil somewhere in the yellow to red color, but when it starts getting dark red or brown, then it's time to change it out. On older engines it's every 3 to 4 thousand miles, with some of the newer stuff you can get away with 5."

Nicholas nodded and looked where Eric pointed, noting the notches on the dipstick. He thought it looked fine before the color was pointed out; brown was not a healthy color. He found the dipstick soon pushed into his grasp, staining his grey t-shirt. He wiped the excess oil off his hands onto the now stained shirt and held on patiently to the dipstick, awaiting Eric's return. "Why did it have to be an older car?" He wondered quietly to himself. "You could've picked '06, '07 mustang, but no, it had to be a '69 because it looks cool. You never frickin' drove it!" The hunter quieted himself once he spotted Eric exit the barn, standing in the same spot as when he left to snag a bottle of oil. The liquid inside looked much cleaner than what clung to the dipstick. "Huh, I haven't even checked the miles on this yet. It can't be a whole lot, since I'm the only one that's ever driven it."

(*intense screaming* I'm so sorry I didn't get back to you! I'm getting so awful with replies it's not even funny, I'm so sorry... On another note though, I officially have a job now! It eats up like half my day and I come home smelling like chicken, but you know, that's okay. And y'see, that's what I'm wanting to figure out. Nerves already function with electrical impulses--like how memories are just neurons firing off in a specific sequence--so you wouldn't think it would be so hard. Man, I just want to be able to build fully functioning automail for people. Also, I'm kinda putting this right after the end of season 2 where the demon gate was opened, since that's where you said you've seen to--though you've certainly seen more now--and I feel like that's a good starting place for these two's stories to start. I didn't realize how old the show was, wow.)

(No worries! I understand there's a lot going on right now- especially with myself haha. What is your new job? I'd think the tricky part would be linking the correct neurons to the correct movements- I believe that technology today reads muscle movements or something- I'm not 110% sure on that though, I haven't looked into it too much. Sounds good for the plan- I'm into season 5 or 6 now, I forget xD)

Eric glanced up at Nicholas' mention of being the only driver. "Dang, that sure is impressive, must have cost you a pretty penny to pick up a set of wheels like this. How many miles have you put on it since you bought it? Have you had it serviced?" He asked, trying to gage how well, if at all, Nicholas had taken care of the mustang. The older cars needed more frequent maintenance and things tended to get run down quicker- they were old after all. Modern cars needed checks every five thousand miles or so, but the older ones needed more frequent checks every two to three thousand miles, depending on what shape they were in.

"Probably would have if I'd bought it. This was my dad's car, like your Chevelle. He's had it for as long as I could remember, but he never drove it so I guess giving it to me was his way of trying to put it to good use." There was probably more to it than that, but Nicholas couldn't guess a larger purpose. "So all the miles on there are mine, save for an extra fifty or so when I was younger." He took a moment to recall the last time he took it in to be serviced. "I wanna say... seven months ago?" Nick sounded ratger unsure. "I had new tires put on and they did a run down on the engine and everything. He runs just fin, I've never had a problem before."

(I can proudly say I work at KFC XD It's really not bad though, I enjoy it. I'm sure I'll learn a ton more about that once I get into college, but for now I'm just over here guessing. Lol, I stopped after season 5. They ended it so well and I couldn't bring myself to watch more, but I'm trying to get into watching Season 6 when I have time)
