The thief hurried through the thin, dark hallway, lit dimly with a half-dead flashlight. The doorway lead to an enormous room with a long strip of beautiful, well-taken-care-of red carpet set neatly above a shiny, polished, creamy white marble floor. However distracting the amazing, expensive, and famous paintings hanging on the wall were, the thief had to ignore them. Compared to what he was after, they were nothing. As he crept along the edge of the white marble wall towards the door at the other side of the room silently, his flashlight flickered. Frustrated with it, he whacked it, though careful not to make any noise. It quit flickering and stopped altogether. crap. He hurried even faster, his nearly silent footsteps quickening. He only had a few minutes until the owners of the huge mansion would be home.
He approached the large, wooden door with golden handles. It was not locked, though the thief was sure that there was a vault inside that would be difficult to unlock. After all, it was guarding one of the most precious jewels ever. Shutting the elegant door behind him, the thief looked around cautiously for traps or sensors. There didn't seem to be any cameras or motion detectors in the room, just a small, thick vault made of most likely one of the strongest materials one could find. Quickly and quietly, the thief pulled out a small gadget that stuck over the lock of the vault. It began clicking nearly inaudibly, and a few seconds later, stopped. He bent down to look at the dull screen. It showed five out of six numbers, the sixth one was blank. The man took it off and examined it to try to see why it had stopped. He looked down at the lock and messed with a few things before putting the gadget back and watching it work. Soon enough, the lock let out a quiet, but slightly louder click and the thief pulled open the small vault door. Inside was a beautiful silver bracelet, covered in small, pristine diamonds. Some were black, but the majority were clear. And if you looked closer, the bracelet was actually a panther with emerald eyes. This amazing piece of jewelry was worth 12.4 Million dollars. And how, both the thief and many people will be asking, did he get away with stealing this?
Skill. Pure skill. The thief, whose ego was a little too big, took the bracelet out of the vault with black gloved hands. Suddenly, lights started flashing around the small room and he panicked. stupid, stupid, stupid! You should've checked for pressure sensors! Of course! I thought that seemed a little too easy. With no time to think, he grasped the precious jewels and metal in his large hand and ran. He had no worried about stealth now. all he had to do was get back down to the first floor and he'd be safe. As of now, he was on the second floor, and if he didn't hurry, he'd be caught.
By the time the thief got to the first floor, police sirens were blaring in the distance. As he hurried out of the back door, the way he came, he ran as fast as he could. The broken, shut-down cameras had smashed lenses and had fallen off their perches where the man had damaged them.
I just have to get to the woods and i'm safe. As the police cars ould be heard stopping in the driveway, the thief had just gotten to the safety of the woods... Only he wasn;t quite safe yet. He had to get as far away as possible.
