"No, I think we're good for now." Ikgrir chuckled, catching on that it was simply a joke. He put one half back into his satchel, and broke the other half into two more pieces. Walking over to Eris, he handed her one part while he began eating his part. It was much better than the rice they had for breakfast, but probably because it was simply bread, he didn't think it was as good as the pastries he had made. He wished he was able to bring those back too, but even just this was fine with him.

"Thank you," I say, taking my piece of bread, but not taking my eyes off the window. I was staring out the window as if that would help us get back to our normal lives. It was my fault really, if I hadn't snuck into his castle, he wouldn't have had to lie to his family and we wouldn't be in this mess.

Ikgrir couldn't help but wonder what he might be doing right now if none of this had happened. The sun was setting, so he guessed he might be having to get ready for dinner, maybe he'd even sneak into the kitchen to watch the chefs cook. It'd be ironic if that was what he'd do instead. But now he wouldn't be watching and eating what they made, rather he'd be making it himself. It had been a tiring day, and after he finished his bread, he walked to the bed. It creaked quietly under his weight as he lied down.

I knew it probably looked odd to Ikgrir that I hadn't even taken a bite of my bread yet, but I was too focused on thoughts of my family. Hearing him lay down on the bed, I bite my bottom lip nervously. I wasn't one to admit I was wrong easily, but in my softest voice, I tell him, "I'm sorry." I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't hear me, but in the silence of the room, and his good hearing, he more likely did hear the two words that came out of my mouth. I'm sorry for ruining our lives just because I wanted to be in the war, I think, slowly taking a bite of the piece of bread in my hand.

Ikgrir had curled up into a ball, and was contemplating falling asleep, or staying up for just a while longer. He was pretty tired, but the sun was still disappearing along the horizon as he stared out the window from where he was. Or rather, he saw as he stared at Eris. His thoughts were interrupted as he heard her apology, and he raised his head, surprised at her remark. She hadn't seemed to be the kind of person to apologize, not about anything. It was true, the root of their entire situation was that she decided to come to his castle in the middle of the night, but if he had just turned her over, none of this would have happened, but Eris could have been killed. Thinking about everything, though, he was actually happy that they were able to meet, "I'm glad for what you did." He replied softly, lowering his head back onto the bed.

At first, I think he's asleep, we did have a tiring day after all. However, when I hear his response, I take my eyes off the window and turn to look at him. He was already curled up on the bed, ready to fall asleep, and I was keeping him up. With the day slowly turning into night, I knew my flow was already becoming more visible, another thing that would probably keep Ikgrir awake. I argue with myself about saying something more to him, but not knowing what to say, I simply keep quiet, looking at him for a few more moments before turning back to the window.

Ikgrir waited for Eris to say more, looking right back at her. As the room slowly dimmed, her glow became more prominent, but he didn't mind it too much. As long as she didn't make too much noise, he was fine with whatever she might do if he were to try and fall asleep. But as she turned back around, he felt the need to speak, "I know I'd regret it if I had turned you in." he responded.

I'm surprised to hear him say more, and I know I need to say something. "Ikgrir," I say to the window, "our families think we're traitors, and we're barely able to afford living here. Are you really sure that if you could go back and turn me in knowing all this, that you wouldn't have changed your mind? It's okay if you would."

Ikgrir wasn't sure how to answer. Sure, if he had turned Eris in, they wouldn't be in such terrible conditions, but would he really be happy knowing he sent someone to the death sentence? But they were on the run now, fearing for their lives that if even a single person recognizes them, they could be thrown in jail. "I don't know." He responded.

I slowly nod, at least he was honest. After finishing the piece of bread, I shrink down to my pixie size and fly over to the pillow on the floor. "It's okay. I'm glad I met you too, dragon," I tell him softly, laying down on the pillow and closing my eyes. "Goodnight Ikgrir."
