Layla happily went behind him glad that he was here. "It's not like that. I just wanted someone to hang out with." He said. The man looked at him and staggered off. Layla looked at Jake. "Thanks. Are you okay? Your eyes are all red..." She said looking at him. She was still not sure about him but at least he had helped her. "I guess I should get going so I get home before dark." Layla said to him. "Thanks again I will see you around I guess." She said and started away.

"One of those nights the only threat was you. Tonight, I could have gotten away once I got a plan. I really appreciate your help in saving me but I don't like the idea of someone who I barely know knowing where I live. I am sorry but that makes me pretty freaked out. So if you don't mind, I would rather continue on my own." She said and stopped walking looking at him. "I will be fine. Why do you care so much? You barely know me." She said looking at him.

"Right. But I don't believe that you actually like me. I am not that interesting so that is out as well." Layla said. "I don't get it. What do you find so interesting about me." She asked him. "If you are really interested in dating someone, Sarah my friend is available but I am okay being alone right now." She said to him. "I guess if you want to walk with me, I can't stop you. But I will let you know, I don't trust you at all. You may say that you would have done it already, but I am not sure that I believe you. I guess it was the smirk you gave me all last night." She said and turned around. She started to walk away. She had a lot of walls up. She rarely put them down for people because of her past. She was not good at it and was okay being alone. She looked at him. "But seriously, what do you see in me?" She asked him. "Why do you want to be around me all the time? What did I do?" She asked.

Layla rolled her eyes. "You are rediculus. I say you have to take the blame because I walk alone a lot. I don't keep many friends because I simply don't want to." She said looking at him. "I also can tell when people lie to me for the most part. I get that you find me attractive, but how is my attitude appealing? I am going to have to work on that to make me less appealing for you." She said coldly. She ignored the blood comment but thought that was strange as well. She looked at him. "Well, you know enough about me, tell me about you." She said to him.

Jake shrugged simply. "I don't need to explain myself to someone who doesn't appreciate being fancied. As for things about me.. well I used to work for a very strong and powerful vampire. I was a sort of body guard. But I left and moved here in hopes of new things. I now simply spend my time home or hunting. I've been attempting to educate myself in some human culture as well. It's nice to learn about what you're eating, ya know?"
He glanced at her, hoping the last part would strike a chord at all. He then realized how truly boring his life has become. He spends most time alone reading or watching stupid human TV shows. He has no need to work, seeing as he own half of his father's business and he has no true hobbies.

"Great. So you are going to study me and then eat me. That makes me feel so great." She said sarcastically. "No I don't want to be fancied by anyone. I like to keep to myself as much as possible until I get to know a person. It would be interesting to be a body guard. Not that I ever could be. I am not very strong or anything. But still interesting." She said. "If you really want to learn about our culture, go to the lantern festival tomorrow night. Just try not to hurt anyone while you are there." Layla said looking at him. "You seem like you have a lot of free time." She said to him and nodded. "I do too." She added. "What do you do when you are alone? Other than hunting." She said to him.
