Kateliana was about to say another word when suddenly she heard cannons in the distance and people screaming. She looked out from the balcony, seeing smoke rise in the air and the sunset turning a more orange and red colour than usual. "Oh no..." she whispered, running into the bathroom for a minute and coming out with her new white clothing on. She sheathed her sword, looking at Elton. "I'm going to check on Leonardo. They'll siege the gate if we don't go to help!" she nearly yelled, running downstairs and slamming a door behind her.

Kateliana raced into the workshop, seeing Leonardo peek out of his door. "Leonardo! You need to get inside and hide somewhere! We'll protect you," she told him quickly. Before Leonardo could reply, Kateliana had raced passed him and entered the streets. Buildings were being pummeled down from the cannons, and people were running amok. A black horse ran by her, and immediatly Kateliana grabbed the reins and hopped on. "Elton!" she yelled, determined not to leave him behind in the chaotic state that the city was in.

Elton was already outside, looking around with an unreadable expression. He had taken off the crown and left it in the room after hearing the noises outside; he hadn't wanted to lose it. In his hand he already held the sword Leonardo had gifted him; it glinted in the light from the sunset that was drenching the sky bright red, as if the chaos on the ground was tinting it with the blood that would be spilled today. He didn't seem alarmed by the confusion around him; it was a normal atmosphere for him.

What was happening, though? He was over next to the horse in a heartbeat. "I think it's your father's army," he hissed, figuring it out slowly. "We have to get you out of here, Kateliana." But how? What if the gates were surrounded?

"No," Kateliana told him quickly. "If he wants me, then he's going to have to fight me." She smacked the reins of the horse, making it rear up with it's front legs, then racing off into the city towards the front gate. She held her body close to the horse, being careful to avoid the crashing buildings.

Kateliana suddenly stopped her horse as she noticed a large army outside. She knew who the men were as well. Fortuna's army... she thought to herself. Her face marked the expression of horror, but she knew that there was only one way to have them get away from the city. Kateliana raced through the gate and stopped right in front of it, staring at the men.

One of the men held up his hand screaming, "Cease fire!" The men stopped their cannons and other weapons they were using to break the city's barrier. Kateliana recognized the man. He was the main generl of the army, and had been for at least 15 years. "Gregory Mali... I thought you would be here," she yelled to him, smoke covering herself and the horse from the men seeing her voice.

Gregory looked at her for a moment and a small grin appeared on his face. "Ah, Principessa Kateliana de'Borgia... what a pleasant surprise. You've had this army on quite a run looking for you. Your father is worried sick, and I was too. He was going to appoint me king once he passed, and I was to be your husband."

Kateliana froze. She stared at him for what seemed like an eternity. She had remembered how the general had always wanted the throne, but she never expected marriage. Kateliana regained the track of time and glared at him with fierce in her eyes. "Like that would ever happen," she spat. "Oh don't be that dear. Your father wants you to come back alive..." he soothed, however the only thing he seemed to want was power.

"Well I guess he'll be bringing back a corpse," Kateliana sighed. She was determined to fight the general to keep him from ever going back to Fortuna. He was only going to be more of a threat than her father.

Elton opened his mouth to reply, then closed it as she ran off. "Where are you going?" he muttered, following her tracks. She can't expect to win a fight against a whole army... She would need his help; it would be easy for him to defeat them. He knew the army of Fortuna; they were strong, yet easy to throw off balance. He knew this from experience.

He arrived at the scene shortly after she did, and narrowed his eyes as he heard the man declare that she would be his wife. Over my dead body, he thought angrily. He knew she didn't like the man, by the way she spoke and looked at him, and it gave him a twinge of satisfaction.

Kateliana looked down towards Elton, then back up at the general. "So you've sided with the murderer Kateliana? That must mean that you are no longer a part of Fortuna!" he yelled, then was about to wave his hand at the sign of attack when Kateliana heard footsteps behind her. She looked behind to see mercenaries from the city. Their clothing had simple metal plating and their weapons were outdated compared to Fortuna's army; however they looked ready to fight no matter what the cost. They had the will to fight for their city in their eyes.

Kateliana looked back down to Elton, a small smile appearing on her face. She looked ready to fight the army, no matter what the cost. She nodded her head once, pulling out her sword and raising it up in the air. "With an army behind us," she whispered, apparently thinking out loud, but also to Elton.

[Cloudsong]

Elton ran to Kateliana's side, and held his sword out threateningly in front of him. He inwardly smirked as he saw some of the army flinch at the sight of him, as if dreading the fight. "An easy battle to win," he replied, in a voice quiet enough so that only she could hear. He smiled at her, attempting to reassure her, though she didn't seem uneasy about fighting her old people.

When they charged, Elton's sword met a man much older than him with a clang that echoed around in the air. He thrust him backwards, watching as the man barreled into his fellow soldier. They crashed to the floor, and Elton moved on to the next soldier, beating him easily too.

Kateliana raced towards the army, her eyes fixed on General Mali. She had no other intentions to kill the other people. She only wanted him to perish so that he would not spread his lust for power anywhere else in Italy. The general swung his sword at the horses legs, making the horse immediatly fall over and Kateliana with it. She hit the ground hard, but lifted her sword just in time to counter his attack that he aimed for. Kateliana stood up quickly, swinging at all sides and trying to break the man's grasp on his sword.

Suddenly Kateliana was caught off-balance when Mali swung his sword under her feet. She stumbled to try and get up, but Mali had already slashed at her, cutting a deep wound in her torso. Kateliana gasped and fell to one knee, holding her balance by her sword in the ground. Mali walked up beside her and kneeled down next to her, a smirk imprinted on his face. "Want to come back to Fortuna now?" he hissed in her ear. He jerked her hand from her bloody wound, holding it on his chest. "See that Kateliana? It's the feel of victory." Kateliana could feel his heartbeat under her hand, however she was more intent on the pain from the wound. The blade, a voice suddenly echoed in Kateliana's head. Kateliana lifted her head swiftly and flicked her wrist, piercing the general's heart. His eyes widened at Kateliana as one last breath emitted from his mouth. Kateliana sheathed the blade and watched as his lifeless body fell to the ground.

Kateliana coughed and gasped once more, placing her arm around the wound. She fell back against the dirt, cluching onto her stomach. Her breathing was coming out in shallow gasps, and her eyesight was turning foggy. "E-Elton..." she coughed out, her face stricken with pain.

Elton met one last person in battle, knocking him out by banging his sword against the side of his head. The man fell to the ground, unconscious. He was breathing heavily, having a few wounds of his own as he watched the battle thin out as the soldiers ran towards the gates, afraid without their general. It all happened so fast.

He was instantly at her side as soon as she had called him, dropping his sword as he bent over her, eyes wide. "Kateliana," he whispered, seeing the deep wound cut into her stomach. His thoughts were coming to him as if in slow-motion; the moment was too much to bear... "No... You can't leave me..." He would die without her. The man that had done this was dead, and he felt angry that he himself couldn't have taken his life with his own hands.

He looked up as a woman from the village came running up, bandages and a first-aid kit in hand. She needs treatment, he thought brokenly; what if she didn't survive? He reluctantly moved away to let her see how bad the wound was. "Please save her," he whispered, his voice barely audible and hoarse as he refused to shed the tears that were threatening to pool in his eyes.

Kateliana winced in pain at the wound again, her eyes squincing and her teeth clenched together. She lay on the ground breathing heavily, her white clothing now stained red. "I should have..." Kateliana tried to choke out the words, but it was like her voice wouldn't let her. She coughed once more, leaning her head against the ground. She closed her eyes peacefully, letting out a single, deep breath.

She felt her head becoming fuzzy and it hurt with the pain of thinking. She could only lie there and focus on her breathing, even if they were shallow. She opened her eyes slightly and lifted her bloody hand, as if to find something; however it fell back down with the lack of strength. She was beginning to feel like she wasn't a part of her body anymore since the pain was becoming numb.

(Ahh, sorry I haven't been posting in the last half hour or so D: I had insane writer's block..)

Elton watched, breathing soft as he watched the woman stitch up the wound, putting disinfectant on the corners to keep it clean. She finished by putting a layer of bandages around it, though he noted that she had a solemn expression on her face. "Will she be all right?" he blurted out as she stood up.

"It is in the hands of god," she murmured, backing up as she kissed the rosary that hung around her neck.

Elton hesitated; he had never been religious. He knelt down beside her again, putting his hand under her head so that it wouldn't be in contact with the hard stone ground. "Kateliana?" he whispered, his voice scared as he waited for her to answer. But what if she didn't answer? That won't happen, he thought fiercely.
