Kateliana yawned once, then got up and walked over to the bathroom. "I'm going to take a bath. I'll be back in a minute," she giggled, grabbing her bag and closing the door behind her. She thought for a moment about Elton being in the other room and thought about their future together. She wouldn't actually mind getting married to him, since she loved him already. She was just afraid of what her father would say. I've been gone for so long... I wonder what he would even think, Kateliana thought to herself as she got into the bathtub.

"All right," Elton replied. He sat down on the chair at the desk, and began to re-read the letter. What did he mean by the last part? Whoever this man was, he definitely knew who he was, also; he had included it in the post script at the end of the letter. After a few moments, he gave up on trying to find any hidden meaning. Leaning his head against the table, he sighed, wishing he was outside again. He hated not being in the fresh air, however cold it was outside. I'm not... meant for being inside. But he was sure he would get used to it, if he did marry Kateliana one day...

Having those thoughts are pointless, though; you'll never marry her. Her father would never let her, even if she asked him. If she even told the king about him, he would most likely attempt to give him the death sentence for murdering so many people. And it's within his right.

Kateliana put on one of her white nightgowns that she had originally worn at the castle. She brushed her hair real quick, then walked out of the bathroom and into the bedroom. She looked over at Elton, who was now sitting at the desk. A smile appeared on her face as she walked over to him. She walked up behind him and put her hands on his shoulders. She began to massage him, as a way to ease the stress that he seemed to be contemplating for the moment. She could imagine doing this much later in their lives, where they had kids of their own and after a hard day at whatever job he was working for. Kateliana closed her eyes at the thought, letting out a deep sigh.

Elton tensed for a moment when he felt her make contact with his shoulders, then relaxed. When he heard her sigh, he looked up. "What is it?" he asked gently. Was she worried about the letter she had received? It was frightening; he had to admit. If she had really seen a ghost, it must have been a large shock.

Kateliana looked down at him, her saphhire eyes blinking a few times. "What? Oh no, I'm fine! I was just thinking of the future... and how it would be like..." she muttered. "It was about you and me, and what it would be like to have a family. I'm going so far into the future, mi dispiace. However, I guess we should just stick to the present..." she whispered, wrapping her arms loosely around his neck and leaning down to kiss him gently on the lips. Kateliana's heart raced for a moment, and she thought to herself, Guess this day turned out better than I thought.

Elton smiled in surprise, but kissed her back for a moment before pulling away. "Yes, you should stick in the present, Amore mio," he whispered, gently giving her a kiss on the cheek. "There will be plenty of time to think about the future after we finish any business that you have in the palace." He was referring to the letter she had received.

Kateliana blushed a bright red, looking as if she wanted to giggle. She rubbed her thumb along his scar, as if she was tracing something on a piece of parchment. She liked the idea of thinking about the future after they finished whatever the letter had in store for them. "Non caspico," she started to whisper to him as she traced along his scar. "How you got this scar. Mi dispiace if I'm asking too much of you to remember, but could you tell me the story, per favore?" she asked him as she moved her hand from his face and back to his shoulders for massaging.

Elton blinked, not surprised she had asked about it. The story was an awfully bloody tale, and he had no intention of telling her the more gruesome parts. "I got it when I was captured in your palace," he said finally. "I got placed into the dungeons for torture - for all of the crimes I had committed... Before I could escape, they had hit me several times with a rusty chain..." His voice trailed off, and his gaze traveled down to the floor. "I deserved what I got; it was only by luck that I escaped at all." He had cut out the worse parts of that torture; he didn't want Kateliana to trouble herself by worrying about how painful it had been.

Kateliana paused once, looking down at him. She thought for a moment about how she had seen some of the men tortured down in the chambers of the dungeons. "I remember seeing people that were tortured down there, in front of the throne begging for forgiveness..." she whispered to him, placing her hand back up on his scar. "Mi dispiace... my father had you go through that. I refuse to let you go through that anymore," she assured him, resting her chin on top of his head.

(Lol really? At the school where my mother teaches, they have this site blocked for some reason... o.O)

"I don't blame anyone, Kateliana," Elton said quietly. "I know that I deserved that fate; I had it coming for many years." He had killed many of the king's innocent people, and he had paid the price. The only reason I am glad I escaped was for the act of meeting you, he thought, gaze still on the floor. "But I know that I have many more tortures coming; it's just... part of my life, in a form of speaking." He got torture as often as people could catch him, which wasn't often; he was quite hard to catch. It was inevitable that they would catch him one day, though; he hadn't killed anyone in a while, but he still would be tried for all of his past.
